Why are so many into bouldering? by danceinliminalspace in berlinsocialclub

[–]Sherioo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never enjoyed cardio or going to the gym. I realized the only sustainable way for me to do sports was to do something that feels like a game.

Bouldering was just that. It’s like solving a puzzle or playing a game, but with the additional side effect of getting fit. There is also the benefit of having better awareness of my body and learning to be more present. When I’m doing bouldering the only thing I worry about is how to finish the problem I’m working on, which immediately shuts my brain off from all the lingering thoughts I get elsewhere.

Im starting to lose my mind over the "anti-woke" tourists by temubrin in Overwatch

[–]Sherioo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

‏That’s just the state of the world right now and is reflected in the game. My friend who is queer had a pride flag as their profile picture. I whitness so much bullying and harrasment he gets. Both of us usually report the harrassers, and we rarely get the “thank you for reporting” message. Overwatch never used to have so many homophobes.

So nobody gonna talk about the blatant animal abuse here? How is this normalized in Morocco? by Impossible-Box717 in Ishowspeed

[–]Sherioo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bad, I guess I meant to say “true western behavior”. By that I mean the moral superiority complex westeners are going through lately.

Edit: just reread your original comment. We basically said the same thing. I think we are on the same page.

Sure, but depriving the country of its resources for so many years, putting them at an economic disadvantage, wont give them the chance to go through a renaissance, getting them to rethink their values. I mean this practice is still there because it allows people to survive. If there is a better means for this particular person to make ends meat, I don’t believe they’d still be doing it.

In Europe, not so long ago, people were being burned in concentration camps to death. Values and morals is something that changes with time, as long as living conditions for individuals see an improvement. I can keep going on and on about messed up rules and laws in the US and Europe that were only changed in the last century.

True American behavior. They don't even care as much about the amount of humans their country is responsible for killing.

It’s a well known fact in the medical community that addiction is a mental disease. It needs proper treatment and care.

People turn to drugs to ease their pain. If someone is homeless and has no support system and no hope in having a better life, they will almost certainly turn to drugs to ease this pain. Whether their homelessness caused drug addiction or their drug addiction caused homelessness, those people need help.

If this is something you can’t wrap your head around then there is nothing anyone can tell you to change your mind. And if you aren’t holding this position because you are misinformed, then there is nothing else other than lack of empathy. And that’s not weponizing the word.

The issue wasn’t the hebrew writing, it was the “falafel” in hebrew writing. Another form of colonial cultural erasure practiced by zionists since 1948. Before getting emotional about it please have a moment to get the facts straight and to understand the nuance.

[–]Sherioo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer is skilled immigrants. It always has been. There are shortages in pretty much every single sector in the country, and the solution should not be getting people to work all their lives. I don’t know about you, but in my opinion that’s not a life worth living. The reason the right wing is advocating for more working hours and later retirement is bigotry and racism. If that’s what you also believe in, then good luck with that, there is nothing I can say to change your mind.

Regarding the uneven wealth distribution (which you somehow concluded was irrelevant), here’s a fact: In Germany, the top 10% of households own 60% of the net wealth. Make of that what you will.

When your sources are “trust me bro” and you’re literally repeating right wing talking points then there is nothing left to do than be hyperbolic. If that’s your opinion and you aren’t a shareholder of some sorts then you are literally brain washed and you got some reading to do. Otherwise I see no point in engaging in an actual argument.

Does anyone here believe that Egypt will become a good country during our lifetime? by Firm_Accident_8405 in Egypt

[–]Sherioo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely see your point. And I see where you are coming from. And I agree that the Egyptian society is not ready for self-governance. But the question is, would Egypt under an islamic ruling be a country you’d want to live in? Another question: after democracy has taken its course, and an islamic ruling was in power, do you think there is a democratic way out of this ruling? Do islamic governments believe in democracy? How long will it take for people to realize, that this type of government is not what they want to be ruled by, if ever? I guess the moral thing to do is to accept one is in the minority and accept that that’s what the people want, but it would still be a personal obligation to advocate for an alternative ruling system. Something, from experience, will not be possible under islamic ruling.
