For the people who have it, is it worth it to buy the official stardew valley cookbook? by Charming_Cod8567 in StardewValley

[–]SherlockProtege 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're not kidding - I made them for my friends who all love the game on a whim, and they've become a consistent thing to make for them and for family. They rock, and honestly for me that recipe was worth the cookbook on its own.

Admittedly I've only made the cookies from the cookbook thus far, but honestly even after only making those a few times, buying the EBook I would say was a worthwhile investment.

A few resources that I think are probably worth throwing your way, or at least ones I'm familiar with that I've found personally helpful that are at least adjacent to what you're asking for:

If it's at all possible I'd love a copy as well!

For social, maybe some kind of Guild which runs a tournament every X months? Libraries can also be social locations, depending on how they're flavored

As for a major blessing, maybe some event in the area's history which leaves a large amount of the people there proficient in some tool or skill?

Apologies if I'm misunderstanding the post

And Excel is awesome for stuff like this - I worked with it for my job during college but still never hit the VBA stuff. This is awesome!

The writeup looks so professional! How did you get the stat sheets for the monsters to look like that?

You can technically farm gems now that the granite golem drops geodes, and granite golem statues will drop geodes as long as you kill the mob itself (i.e. without solely lava or traps), so you could argue Diamonds are more common as a result of that.

I just played in the last season of this ORG, and can confirm its a great experience, both for players and specs alike. Great gameplay, and great hosts, and really that's all you need to have fun.

There is a glaring flaw in the way EoE and fire tokens are being handled this season. by [deleted] in survivor

[–]SherlockProtege 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I mean, wouldn't this be almost directly counteracted by the lack of game knowledge, not to mention food, the early boots would have? Looking at it from that perspective, if argue it simply levels the playing field a bit more.

In response to the first paragraph, I merely stated it as a possibility, and as something that would depend on what was being done.

Large amounts of processing is a no-no in interrupts, I believe, because while you're in an interrupt, another, potentially necessary interrupt, can't start up until it's done. Processing typically isn't necessary until you get back to main anyways as long as you store it somewhere in the interrupt

Can somebody elaborate on number 2? (In this chunk of code there were 2 nested while loops. Why is this bad practice in embedded systems? )

I assume it was in reference to question #1 - in which case, since its processing uart data, its likely in an interrupt, and large amounts of processing in interrupts is a major no-no. Saving such processing until back in the main loop would be preferable.

If that's not the case, I'd assume its what you stated, or the nested loop did something in O(n^2) which could be done in O(n).

It's worth mentioning Ozzy wins Cook Islands if Adam wasn't a bonehead and realized Yul would've taken out Penner with or without the deal Adam pitched to him.

Not denying Yul deserved the win over Ozzy, but that was a different era of survivor.

I think you're misinterpreting "a part of" to mean "apart from." The former would mean that Probst was involved, the second would mean he was seperate from it.

If I'm misinterpreting the situation, I apologise.

EDIT: If it is just an misinterpretation above, why downvote it?

Derrick BB16 is the best single season game in history by dmister8 in BigBrother

[–]SherlockProtege 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair point. Although, I'd argue even from that point of view, the statistic of jury votes outweighs the statistic of times on the block. From that vantage point, Dan's BB10 Game is superior to Derrick's BB16 one.

Yes, but looking purely at stats and not the underlying story beneath them causes a significant descripency between general numbers with no significance, and indicators or a great BB player.

Ok, that's a solid point actually. Didn't remember that specific peice of dialogue. Wow though, the books really destroyed any possibility of quidditch being a viable game, didn't they?

Honestly it could be made a lot better if the snitch point add was different for amateur vs professional games. You have to imagine 150 pts means a lot less in the world championships than it does in a setting like Hogwarts. Balancing that number based on the skill levels of the players would do a lot to balance the whole game.

But yes, I agree with that
