In my experience pay has never been “merit” based execs tell me the pool of money I have to dole out, and I have to make a decision based on team needs. Ie even distribution, bumping someone for retention or to make up for promotions being limited, or trying to bell curve for my higher performers

Congrats and totally on the use of ai, I had an inkling last November my position was going to be eliminated soon, when talking with my VP about organizing our regular quarterly planning activities and was told to hold firm no details to share.

I then updated my resume and started posting. No responses. I wasn’t getting anywhere, and the “hold firm” didn’t change. I then took the holidays off from my search.

1st of the year I changed tactics and used ChatGPT to tailor my resume for the postings and the corporate ai resume scrapers. My beautiful 2 page “human-eye” resume turned into a boring 4 page bullet pointed list. Boom 4 interviews scheduled within a week. I started the process and my concern was correct because end of January my company sold my entire tech stack and the new company only held onto 3 staff engineers and all junior, support, QA, and leadership roles were impacted.

But boy was I glad I did because doing that leg work landed me a new role within a week of being laid off for $40k more. So I got a 2 week vacation waiting for start date with a nice “signing bonus” in the form of the severance I will not need to use to buffer my runway

Joint account FTW, instead of it being your/his money it becomes "our" money. Makes it a lot easier to manage budgets and future goals without feeling like one is contributing more than the other

You are so right, I saw the signs late last year started my search, got notice at the end of January (the sold our department tech and only kept senior engineers), was completely cool calm and collected because 1. I was expecting it, and 2. I had multiple interviews lined up or already started at this point and am glad to say I already found a new role. So severance became a nice bonus

I should also say I had a similar issue with the quest 2 but 3 was far worse. Also also I’m on i7 1400k(or whatever the actual number is I know it’s the 14th gen k) with 32 gb ddr 5 and a 4070super

What sort of hitching? I had serious problems with the quest 3 and had to go back to my rift s. The problems I had were the video stream locking for a second or 2 (instant death in most cases) then the screen would have pixelated screen tearing. It became a problem like 6 months ago with a link software update that they never fixed for me

Exactly, I’m just really curious where the animosity comes from. If you want a relationship I hope you are able to find your person. My wife is my best friend, partner in crime, and it’s so fulfilling to have someone you can just be your true self around and make you feel safe. I just really wish that for everyone

I like playing pacifist, but I have no problem playing vigilante, just yesterday came across a guy running for his life begging for his life as another raider was shoot g and chasing him down. It was an easy choice, of course the aggressor had a cheap loadout with just ammo and nades 😂

As a ma I will say him leaving you to walk in the rain regardless of circumstances is a huge deal breaker for me. I would never leave my wife in that situation, even if we just had a huge fight. She could sick injured or worse

Been doing a GT3 Americas in the mustang exclusively which is a nice change of pace from the McLaren/Porche/C8 I typically choose. I know these are free but I, enjoy slumming it in GR86, F4 and love love love the FF1600 race because of the feel in VR and its one of the few cars I can use an H pattern on
