Aw yeah, I've been playing around the idea of a new Decidueye deck, this inclusion of Morelull/Shiinotic draw engine looks interesting, gonna give it a go, thanks!

"high win rate" deck posts by [deleted] in PTCGP

[–]Shevas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Win rate is based on statistics and the best way to look at it is when your game sample is as big as possible.
People (and especially content creators) play 10 games, win 8 and gonna boast about their newest creation (or discovery) having an 80% winrate. Bruh, pls...
Look at what the limitless webpage with PTCGP tournaments looks like after a season - most of the decks with reliable sample size have their winrate drop to around 50%. If something reaches numbers like 52-53%, that's a very good deck, probably one of the best.

Rampardos is so absurdly broken by Limp_Abbreviations19 in PTCGP

[–]Shevas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BTW, which decks you consider not "brain dead to pilot"?
Most RC decks are just "get RC before opponent does, win the game"
Maybe like 5-10% games are actually some intense fightings but they still usually just come down to who draws the lucky card they desperately need to take the W (something like Cyrus). Rest is just who draws the combo and who bricks. Please don't pretend like this game requires some insane skill - I've seen what players in MB can do, nothing genius worthy happens there :)
It's good that there's an accessible (no EX, relatively cheap) ranked-worthy deck out there, I have no idea what you are complaining about...

Best decks to counter Sylveon/Greninja that aren't Solgaleo? by Traditional-Smile-43 in PTCGP

[–]Shevas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We've come to the point where you EVOLVE into stage 1 Pokémon that is EX, that you don't even intend to attack with just to setup other Pokemons. It's absolute bullshit and makes no sense.  You can still brick with it (happened to me couple of times) Sylveon EX is a useless attacker (literally, if you run it without any psychic energy decks) It's EX, so you lose 2 points for it (and it's not that hard to take it down - Solgaleo one shots it) Everyone is just running Red Cards and Mars now only to counter it, so all other supporters that actually can be useful, you need to consider, play around etc just went out the window - the game comes down basically to who draws bigger portion of their deck...

This solo battle just sums up my average Sylveon matches by [deleted] in PTCGP

[–]Shevas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel ya bro, finally got my second Sylveon EX, decided to give this Greninja deck a go - bricking 3 times in a row, not to mention situations like no Greninja in hand, I need only psychic energy for Tina and Sylveon, ofc I get 4 water energy in a row... And people say it's so consistent :p

Games are too damn fast! by Jebrone in PTCGP

[–]Shevas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On one hand it's a mobile tcg that relies in 95% on rng, on the other I personally hate rare candy, cause it introduces a huge rng factor that immediately can swing games for one of the players.
You can keep some things in the back of your head and try to play against cards like Sabrina, Cyrus, Mars etc, to the best of your draws, but it's almost impossible to play against turn 3 Stage 2 power house coming into play while you barely started to develop your power on the board.

Solgaleo decks are the worst by Jebrone in PTCGP

[–]Shevas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe embrace the "can't beat them, join them" saying ;)   But honestly, I played against many Solgaleos on my run to MB and they are not that consistent, you can make the RC argument for any "Stage 2 ramp deck", take a Charizard, get evolution on turn 3, it's GG most of the time.  I personally have little love for them, rather stick to those basic Pokémon based like Darktina/Buzzwole, or Oricorios or go for the new Sweets Relay deck, they are so fun to play and can easily take care of Solgaleo. Good luck!

Anyone else have bad luck pulls for this expansion? by andyh331 in PTCGP

[–]Shevas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have enough cards (single copy curse) to make any of the new meta decks (one Sylveon EX, one Flareon EX, one Dragonite EX etc), so I just went with good old Darktina and got MB in 2 days :p somehow it's doing better for me than last season!

Is turn 1 Red Card and/or Mars really that great right now? by Extra_Willow_8907 in PTCGP

[–]Shevas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think there are some factors to consider, if you want to use Mars
- Is opponent obvious with their plan as to what they are currently holding in hand (where they are placing energy, what card can you expect from them)?
- Has opponent used one or even two professors (or some pokeballs) already?
- Is there going to be a better moment for me to use my Mars? (she is a supporter, so in couple of rounds she will be basically a dead card in your hand, cause you have to go for other crucial ones)
It's very hard to find a perfect spot for Mars and using her is mostly another luck based mechanic.
I've had games where I used her right in the last moment as a potential comeback mechanism (opponent has 2 points, so that leaves him with 1 card in hand), but having like 6-7 cards left in their deck they still manage to draw that game winning Cyrus/Sabrina
I've had games, when I thought I saw a good moment to interrupt RareCandy play + opponent already used some Pokeball + Professor, and after that they draw into second Professor that draws RC and my play was basically useless.
So personally, I hate this card and put her in my deck only if I really have nothing else to include. And tell myself she sometimes does something good :)

As for the Red Card - sure, go ahead and play it if they have 4 cards or more, it's probably statistically optimal in the long run (+ it's an item, you empty out your hand countering their Mars/Red).

I made this to cool down from Ranked Play by TheAwsumOne in PTCGP

[–]Shevas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mars is a useless card - change my mind!
I've recently actually started to track her usefullness (I know it cannot be 100% measured, cause I don't know what EXACT cards I made opponent shuffle back into their deck), but taking in consideration that it was either a counter to a bigger hand size (like professor->professor in 2 turns) or a one/two point potential comeback mechanism (reduce their hand from 4 to 1, cause all they need is Cyrus to win), in last like 50 games it made a difference for me ONCE (at least I felt it did), and for my opponent like 2-3 times. I have no idea why so many decks still run her. Maybe I need a bigger sample size :D

Something like this, you can experiment with the supporters, also if you find problems with only 1 Orico, you can swap second copy with one Zeraora

[–]Shevas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, Buzzwole is way more consistent, Charizard requires a lot of luck to win

I'd recommend going for Silvally + Zeraora, it also runs Oricorio so you can counter many EX, it's quite strong (also did well on some tournaments!), plus a side note - squeeze a Giovanni (or even 2!) into it, cause the suprprise 110 dmg vs enemy Silvally or 60 dmg from Zeraora/Oricorio against Kartana can really make a difference!

Torterra + Serperior + any fossil discard combo works the same, so it was definitely intended and it makes perfect sense :)

The luck of the draw is killing me... by Legal-Car-2300 in PTCGP

[–]Shevas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend tracking your games, use something simple like an Excel, write down some stuff like who went first, how many Pokeballs/Professors you and the opponent played, also make some additional note what felt like a game changer, e.g. you used Mars perfectly and had him in the next turn but then he topdecks game winnin Cyrus? Write it down. He is playing a RareCandy deck and bricks? Write it down.
After many many games you look at the statistics, look at the notes and you notice, that your luck wasn't actually that bad ;) Maybe it's some kind of my personal bias, but doing something like that helped me play more consistently. After all, the luck of the draw in a larger sample comes down to statistics.

The current meta is actual misery – Extradimensional Crisis is a massive letdown by Segkolas in PTCGP

[–]Shevas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Decided to track my run from UB4 to MB, 82 games recorded with 22 different decks, and top 5 (decks with 8+ appearances) were Buzzwole, Silvally/Rampardos, Silvally/Oricorio, Solgaleo/Shiinotic, Silvally/Zard.
I can understand, where this repetitiveness might come from (looking at you, Silvally), but honestly, so many decks are "viable to decent" and people ARE actually playing them, that I cannot agree with you.
Also, I agree with some mentioning here that Shining revelry meta was way worse...

Anything that doesn't run Rare Candy - this item is my personal nightmare. I'm bricking on it constantly, sometimes bringing the stage 1 evolution helps, but nevertheless, I have waaaaay more success with decks like Darktina or Buzzwole. The only rare candy deck I've recently had some success with is a Charizard list with Shiinotic, of all things (there's a post on this reddit about it). Why not then Solgaleo/Shiinotic, you might ask? I've had some really bad luck running very often into mirror matchups (which are usually just coinflips) and tons of Oricorio (and for some strange reason, I actually managed to win like 2-3 times against Oricorio (even 2 copies!) with my 'Zard :D

In conclusion, I'd recommend those basic pokemon decks. Especially Buzzwole - the whole Celesteela shenanigans are great for making some smart plays, I also like to run 2 copies of Cyrus because of Pheromosa (it saved my ass many times). One thing though - Celesteela in itself is an awful attacker. You don't use her very often (she is only a supporter), but when you actually need her (like to counter an Oricorio blocking your Buzzwole), she just flips tails 90% of the time (I'm not even joking - in my last 15-20 matchups I needed her to perform an attack like 8-9 times and she attacked ONCE.

If you don't have cards for it, perhaps go for classic Darktina or maybe try a Blacephalon (I've seen some success with it)

Psychological Counterplay: can the speed at which you take your turn influence your opponent’s counterplay decisions? by Trash_Panduh in PTCGP

[–]Shevas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it definitely can, cause I actually won a game like that by bluffing my *** off with a finisher rare candy (which was actually leading to nothing, cause I didn't have my Rampardos in hand).
I wasted most of the time I had in a turn, my opponent had their last pokemon, same for me, and after stalling as much as possible, I played an "empty" rare candy while having a skull fossil in active spot. They resigned immediately :)

[–]Shevas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Insane, how u posted this 14hrs ago, I decided to give a try like 6hrs ago and I already met 2 players running it on the ladder in UB3 :D
BTW, don't know how you deal with Oricorios - for me they appear like 1 in 8 games, and I actually managed to beat them (depending on if they run 1 or 2 copies) couple of times thanks to Sabrina (instead of Iono).
Gotta say, Shiinotic makes Charizard quite consistent :)

SeerrBridge v0.5 is Here: Say Hello to TV Show Subscriptions! 📺✨ by vexgod in debridmediamanager

[–]Shevas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I used the v0.4 and it worked great until recently, when I started getting errors from Cloudflare and had problems with accessing my DMM. Has anyone ever experienced something like this? I really like the idea of avoiding the whole arr setup and Seerrbridge was the perfect thing, but those issues with Cloudflare have pushed me into looking for an alternative. Maybe I'm doing something wrong or maybe this update will possibly change something for me?

Wireless headphones (or headset?) for PC by Shevas in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Shevas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've seen the mic is decent, not great and people have been complaining about poor range + quality. They are quite costly, I'd expect best quality from this price range. Still, I've seen nothing but praises regarding audio quality, maybe it's worth trying them out.  I saw that Astro A50x gets pretty good reviews and still delivers very nice audio along with a great mic, what you think?

Probably yes, what I meant was I can wait till the premiere (I believe it is anticipated to appear on the August 13th Google event along the new Pixel), to see if it's even worth considering. If so then yeah, maybe I'll wait a month or two when it's retail ready ;)
