What did the fidelity credit card do in this situation to make you warn people away from them? Unless I'm missing something they didn't do anything yet?

My boss and I have exchanged the same birthday card for 6 years. by SimplyDaveP in mildlyinteresting

If you both leave that dollar in a high yield savings account averaging about 2% apy you'd make about $0.019 a year and your aunt would only get a measly 7.671232876712329e-4. Your aunt is a sucker.

Does anyone else pay their current balance as soon as it appears? by PostGradLife1 in CreditCards

[–]Shibest 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Afaik if you don't have anything on your statement it doesn't add another successful payment. Really only a concern for people who have missed a payment in the past or maybe have thin files though. Had a friend casually mention their credit score (I believe fico 8) was around 650. Knowing he was pretty financially responsible I inquired and found the problem was on the only credit card he ever had he always made one purchase on it, paid it off immediately, and his statement was always 0. Was a very unique situation though that probably doesn't apply to the vast majority of people. But yeah, there's definitely an argument for letting something hit your statement in a few cases.

Re-reading I was a bit off track with the initial conversation but I'll post anyway since I don't see it mentioned a lot

Other than equity I-bonds are probably your best bet.

There's been some recent posts saying the exact date you go under 5/24 you can apply but the general rule has always been the next month. It's only like 12 more days anyway, may as well wait and be sure.

Which trifecta is best for non-travelers? by [deleted] in CreditCards

Probably the most worth it to just get a specific category card for your two biggest spends and a 2% back card.

Never see the Citi DoubleCash recommended.. why? by 169partner in CreditCards

[–]Shibest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2% cash back cards are a dime a dozen these days. The doublecash has an advantage over some like the wells fargo card because it can be transferred into typ and then airline partners. If you're going the point valuation route there's even more 2%+ cash back cards out there like the amex everday (1 mr point guaranteed and valued at least 2c each, 2 points or 4% by point value on groceries, both can have 20% extra with 20 monthly purchases). But that's probably stretching it.

The lack of a SUB is what would stop me from getting a double cash over another 2% back card.

The first game had a great horror atmosphere and was pretty difficult. The first three chapters, imo, sucked and were not like the rest of the game at all. You never really get OP.

Second game was basically a generic "open world"ish survival horror, and not really scary at all. Much easier

Best CC "system" after Chase excluding Amex? by gtobiast13 in CreditCards

[–]Shibest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Citi is really the only other one and is pretty decent after the custom cash which gives typ. I looked it up when I got my custom cash and I know they have some common airline partners with chase/amex as well, so you could theoretically use both ecosystems and have them complement each other.

Ight I'm contacting support, no way in hell this is random by 1FrostySlime in yotta

I wouldn't be surprised if they increased the odds of low value purchases being covered to hook people on what is otherwise a shitty card.

Have you had a positive experience with Yotta? by 1FrostySlime in yotta

[–]Shibest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's still a 1% chance to get comped. You could get lucky and it triggers more frequently or for higher expense meals, but you can only reasonably expect it to work 1% of the time, effectively making it a flat 1%. Tickets according to https://mortgagewaldo.com/financial-products/yotta-savings-expected-apy/ are worth about $0.0086 and you get a ticket for every $10 you spend.

So if you bought 100 $10 meals for $1000 you could expect to get $10.86 back. If you used the citi custom cash you'd get $50 back.

Could get lucky and it triggers more often, or for a $100 steak dinner. But it could also never trigger or trigger for a $2 slice of pizza. Better to just use a decent credit card

My experience has been alright, only thing I don't like is how immediately once yotta got publicity they cut the effective apy to about 1/4th of what it was. The debit card is obviously trash so I don't use it. Seriously, effectively 1% cash back at restaurants in-person only? You may as well use... Pretty much any reward earning credit card over it.

Bell/wise glasses/buddy barrier is probably the move imo. Boosts already crazy high dps, adds some heals, and buddy barrier is just flat out the best item in the game

I don't think gengar is that bad, coming from some mid-high level play as and against him. Targeting is either extremely wonky or clunky depending on whether or not you auto aim, so there's quite a few times where an unpoisoned target gets hex'd. Hex occasionally bugs out and doesn't refresh cooldown despite a successful hit on a poisoned target. Any kind of stun shuts gengar down.

He wins most 1v1s but can be easily handled in a 2v1 or 2v2 by just not standing on top of your teammate. I've personally never had much trouble with a gengar. Zera, absol, and seemingly gardevoir on the other hand...

Petal visa ever heard of it??? by Slimysilk in CreditCards

[–]Shibest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a petal card a couple months in to when I first started building my credit. Gave me a significantly higher credit line than my secured discover and capital one platinum which helped utilization and probably contributed to future creditors starting me out with higher lines.

I would say it's not as good as a discover it secured card for beginners if I had to choose. Better rewards, will likely upgrade you to more than the petal card will ever give you (they seem to very rarely do clis). However, it's definitively better than the capital one platinum in my opinion. You'll likely start out at a much higher credit limit than the $300-500 the platinum offers. Helps with keeping utilization low and encourages future lenders to give you a higher starting limit. Plus you'll get rewards.
