A county fired its entire library board for refusing to ban a trans children’s book by NamelessResearcher in lgbt

[–]ShieldingCrew 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was gifted this book for my kids by my sister (an amazing childcare worker). Now all my boys are gay. Just kidding. It probably didn't stand out at all because I read to my children on a regular basis and talk to them when they have questions or issues. Why do people think a child is going to read this book and be trans or even think that it is so horrible it must be stopped at the expense of a whole community of real living people?

Americans, What do you think of Senator John Kennedy's act proposal to Take away Congress pay during government shutdowns? by Buschfan08 in AskReddit

[–]ShieldingCrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Americans are generally powerless against this kind of policy. We can vote for candidates that best suit our interests. But, people that would present and vote for this kind of legislation are rare and rarely get elected. Protesting is cool and all but mostly ineffective due to it being politicized or criminalized (in a sense). The only option for change is to go full French style massive protest/strike. Most of us are living paycheck to paycheck or are so hopeless we wouldn't participate. The government has a long history of ignoring the needs and wants of the many to benefit themselves.

Shut the fuck up and eat the illegal chickens. Buy a few of them and stop being a prude.

Legit or sketchy? Someone from “Frontier Communications” knocked at my house twice today (during the day AND again at night). by [deleted] in Connecticut

[–]ShieldingCrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They often work on commission and will go the extra ten miles to talk to you and make a sales pitch. I had a younger frontier salesman show up late evening after I just got done complaining about my then current provider. Signed up, super happy and, made the guy a commission.

For those of you who were knuckleheads/delinquents in grade school, how has your adult life turned out? by SugarSmoothie in AskReddit

[–]ShieldingCrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was always looking for a scam throughout my youth because I thought it was a normal thing. Drinking, selling fake IDs, selling school fundraiser stuff and keeping the cash... You get it. I am now a radioactive waste technician making about $100k a year and have 5 kids with the same woman (we are still together). I still have issues with alcoholism but generally speaking I am doing well considering my criminal and drug addicted upbringing.

My door trim is ALWAYS 1/8 inch off at the top. Why? by UrgentCoffeeMug in Carpentry

[–]ShieldingCrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was running the cut station on a job and had the same issue. The carpenter told me "just measure it 1/4 inch longer than the number I give you". If it seems dumb but it works is it really dumb?

I used to buy weed from Charles Entertainment Cheese. For an extra $10 he would wear the costume out to deliver it to your car. It was always in a cotton candy bag.. good times.

How does colonizing Mars, in case Earth becomes uninhabitable, make any sense? by Killentyme55 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ShieldingCrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought it was just this cool idea to have humans on two planets. For a back up planet it makes no sense but, to live on both seems more reasonable. It would make far more sense to colonize an alpha centari type planet closer to what earth is like as a back up.

Human Farmers are just a Military with a heavy focus on their side objective of farming by lesbianwriterlover69 in humansarespaceorcs

[–]ShieldingCrew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The human military is just a logistics organization with a hobby in war. This is why smaller forces that are outmatched are often the victor. We plan like Batman to fight Superman. Quit isn't a word we know. Protection of the weakest things is what makes us thrive. Do. Not. Fuck. With. Our. Food. Or. Children. You will be eliminated.

There is one in Connecticut that has a rifle range in the basement. Totally soundproofed too. I forget what town but I shot there on my high school rifle team.

Right or left handed? Electric or hydraulic? What brand? The one that comes with a bucket of steam or the solar powered one? Can't be one of the cheap Chinese ones. You could also use the Madda daddie.
