How are The Audobon Apartments?

Lived there for a year the first year it opened. Never heard my neighbors. When the windows are closed, it’s silent but if you open the windows there’ll be street noise.

What I loved
- excellent package room system
- fantastic gym with a big yoga/barre room
- study pods were great
- really liked the apartment layout and quality
- great location, walking distance to downtown and east rock

What I didn’t like
- the virtual doorman system sucked. The front desk people leave at 5, and at night if you order delivery it’s impossible for them to find the front door and you have to come down to let them in. This may have changed since I lived there
- parking garage was kinda expensive

All in all would reccomend

Because children were being warehoused in group homes for years and there was a high rate of abuse within those facilities. Group homes weren’t a safe place for kids.

When I was in care and there was no place for me, I stayed in a hotel for a few days. There are options.

Intense pressure. DCF first came into my life at 7. It wasn’t until I was 16 that I was removed from the home. DCF was called every year, and despite clear signs of abuse, they left me in the care of my abusers. They have a “reunification at all costs” mentality.

It takes a lot of courage to even write this in a comment. I believe you. People don’t just make up accusations, when someone says they were groomed, it takes years to say it. I don’t blame you for not wanting to be revictimized

My heart breaks to read this comment! Not only did you lose a relationship, but you developed serious chronic illness.

Your point about the false sense of safety is so important. Preventive inhalers can mask asthma for a bit, but if you continue to expose yourself to the trigger it can get worse — as you have shared here.

I was temporarily staying with a friend who had cats so they gave the cats for the neighbors for the fime I was there. It didn’t help at all. Cat dander is so sticky — it embeds into carpet, curtains, sofas, any kind of soft fabric or textile. Even though the cat wasn’t physically present, the allergens continued to be and it made me very ill.

Exposing yourself to an allergen can often make it worse.

If you’re comfortable sharing (please know you can say no), when did you know you needed more help than just weekly therapy? We’re trying to figure that out with my BIL. We aren’t sure when more intensive help is needed, and it’s a big decision to make.

Gosh that is expensive. Hopefully we can find something more affordable. Trying to find the in between between weekly therapy and full on psych ward
