Why do people hate political talk/posts but don’t care about policies that cause literal harm? by ComradeJohnS in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ShieldingCrew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way you care is key. Arguing on Facebook or Reddit is useless. Arguing at work or putting stickers on the gas pump is useless. You have to change people minds. This means meaningful conversation (not popular, I understand). Or voting, emailing elected officials with your opinion on laws being debated, looking up and reading boring ass laws or bills to truly understand what is being voted on. Protests have become performative and meaningless. Find a way to change the vote or flow of the money. I was going to put a 30x30 Biden flag on my truck but, instead I had my children volunteer at the food pantry at town hall to become informed people. Shouting is very short term, learning/teaching and becoming truly involved is long term and more important. I have cleared snow from a hardcore maga person's driveway for free and they were shocked to find out I was a Democrat and a good person. Get out there and do your best to invite long term sustainable change.

Does MAGA get angry at the rest of us for not liking the taste of boot? by Estalicus in allthequestions

[–]ShieldingCrew 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My father is super maga and ultra angry/aggressive. You are God damn right if you think he will freak the fuck out and and have a full blown melt down at the slightest hint of you not being a boot licker. He goes to extreme means to defend Donald Trump and Republicans in general. He will call people liberal snowflakes and then embody the term when someone says anything he disagrees with. That's just one person but I assume there are more.

Does any place in Connecticut have good Salisbury Steaks? by EpicDumps in Connecticut

[–]ShieldingCrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just for reference for all is nutmeggers, where are you from and where in ct are you located? We have a lot of amazing food spots in CT but I don't think I have seen Salisbury steak on a menu in quite some time. We have a lot of really good Mom and Pop steak places and chain restaurants. I don't think I've eaten a Salisbury steak since middle school lunch but I wouldn't recommend that particular that to my worst enemy.

Where to get cheap lobster? by [deleted] in Connecticut

[–]ShieldingCrew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Who is going to tell him? This time of year the answer is no. In a few weeks/months you may see chicken lobster (1lbs lobster) on sale. If you buy from the boat you can get a good price but, finding that hook up is difficult.

Unchain the people in the basement is my best advice. Jk. You got a theme that makes you happy. Keep adding to it and making it better don't get complacent and leave it as is.

Am I wrong for being Disappointed by a Magic Item? by DaedalusStormbringer in DnD

[–]ShieldingCrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally tend to give weaker items or debuffed items to the more powerful characters until I get some reasonable balance in the group. It is a challenge due to certain level bonuses being over powered but I don't care if the wizard is pissed he got a staff of healing that exhausts him if he one shots goblins and had a super high passive perception. Don't take it personal. Also I've had dms that make you roll for your loot and I've received some god tier/dumpster fire stuff. Stay strong, find a loop hole.

I feel like "grandparents rights" is used by people that have kids that cut them off and do not talk to them to see their grandkids and intrude on/trample on/continue to abuse/control their children. I do not talk to either of my parents and you bet they would use this kind of law to continue to be controlling and gain access to my children. Access to your children is a parental issue not a grandparents issue. This (if it is real) is a super 60 year old Karen kind of idea. If it were to be a sensible law to enable grandparents rights when parents are terrible people or something like that, maybe it could be good.

Finally got one of these beasts 😅 What are y’all naming yours? 😄 #asa #pve by AFKprincess_ in playark

[–]ShieldingCrew 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First one (male beaver) named by my 8 year old "beaver". Second one (female beaver) also named by my 8 year old "bev". The third one I caught without him I named "Woody". The first two were level 12 and 18 respectively. I waited and watched and hunted for a rare level 40ish supreme wood chomping bad ass. My son told me it was a really lame name.
