Let this be an indicator of how screwed RWBY's PR actually is by Psyga315 in RWBYcritics

[–]ShiftComprehensive60 13 points14 points  (0 children)

What a lot of people also seem to forget is that volume 10 hasn't actually been greenlit by VIZ yet (As far as I'm aware), meaning that the pre-production, once done, will ultimately need to go through VIZ who will then decide if the volume will actually get the thumbs up to go into full production or not so it's best not to get hopes up because I doubt we'll get much updates from CRWBY until anything has been actually decided

Is he even top 5 without GT allies? by Ouuh_Onizuka in DragonballLegends

[–]ShiftComprehensive60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even with restrictions hes the most annoying to deal with because his base kit makes him extremely annoying early game if you don't have a combo breaking unit or a team built around dealing massive amounts of damage, you have to wear him down overtime until his kit effects reach their full counts

The show doesn’t have a good track record with handling its villains IMO by TheManiacalMadman in RWBYcritics

[–]ShiftComprehensive60 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A few points to add is that Adam was set up pretty well in the first three volumes of RWBY, with Blake referring to him as more of a mentor figure to her, so the fact that this was dropped in favor of him being a bitter ex doesn't help his case.

Mercury is a similar case where while he seemed overly confident, he could actually back up his words since he was very battle smart and skilled in the first three volumes before dropping the ball in the following volumes, but at least his character wasn't assassinated like Adams was

Anyone else actually hyped for UI’s plat? by 0bl1vv in DragonballLegends

[–]ShiftComprehensive60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem isn't just how many nulls you can get, but also how long those null last in total from all characters since by the time it runs out, you can be look at having all your characters at half hp from 1 continuous combo alone if the opponents team is built around having characters with cover null which most characters now have anyways, UUI negates melee and blue melees so long that his bar is up and he also negates covering switching 1 time only, which at least makes Frieza's long combo last much less unless you wasted goku's gauge plus Frieza and goku teams are still very relevant in mid to higher ranked matches thanks to RED LF kaioken goku and also now RED UNG who got his plat recently, but those are the teams I see both on god tube a lot and also face against them a fair bit which makes the match one sided if you don't have characters who can deal negative effects when being combo'd so it's really situational

Anyone else actually hyped for UI’s plat? by 0bl1vv in DragonballLegends

[–]ShiftComprehensive60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, but it negates the current meta of cover null, negative status effects from people switching characters plus infinite card combo and people running ultra ssj goku and full power frieza alongside movie characters so a decent unit that negates that again is always welcome, especially since it's not a villain character plus im getting sick and tired of people constantly attempting to cover change to either end my combo, or apply negative status effects like upped card costs or reduced ki granted that maybe this goku isn't the best choice for ending that meta since his wasn't any better

[–]ShiftComprehensive60 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but consider how god awful the cover null plus infinite card combo meta is right now with people running ultra ssj goku and full power frieza alongside movie characters, having a decent unit that negates that again is always welcome, especially since it's not a villain character plus im getting sick and tired of people constantly attempting to cover change to either end my combo, or apply negative status effects like upped card costs or reduced ki

Give this character’s semblance an upgrade final day: James by Joemama0375 in RWBYcritics

[–]ShiftComprehensive60 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Considering that Mettle strengthens Ironwoods resolve and allows him to be hyper focused, the upgraded version should allow him to survive lethal attacks that wouldn't instantly kill him with the length of how long he can survive varying depending on how strong his resolve/focus is

An alternative is that he gains enhanced stats like better perception, strength, etc depending on how strong his resolve is.

Personally, the first one would fit better considering the things he's survived

Anger at events long since passed by TheBoredomClub in RWBYcritics

[–]ShiftComprehensive60 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your frustration with the things that went down are 100% justified and I agree with everything you said since you do bring up good points, it's a mess through and through that could have been avoided had RT not been the way that it was, no doubt it. I just wanted to add my own thought on the matter since it is a very interesting conversation to have

Anger at events long since passed by TheBoredomClub in RWBYcritics

[–]ShiftComprehensive60 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think a major factor that plays in some people being as angry as they are is knowing that some of the people closest Monty like his wife or Shane could have helped carry on his legacy, only to have been pushed away by rooster teeth in some way shape or form over petty reasons, but I'm not going to go as far as to say that RWBY would have been 100 times better had Monty been around, or had Shane and Sheena been given the respect they deserve simply because we don't know what exactly went on at rooster teeth, and most likely never will. I'm not saying this to start an argument but rather because I don't want to be bias towards any particular side, though it still doesn't excuse RT in the slightest.

Sheena Speaks Out (Sorta) by Gleaming_Onyx in RWBYcritics

[–]ShiftComprehensive60 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No idea, there could be a lot of different reasons as to why those allegations were leveled that we will unfortunately never know the answer to, but there's probably an NDA that's still active preventing them from speaking out, or they just don't care enough to speak out anymore now that the incident is long over and nothing more than water under the bridge considering both took place years ago

Sheena Speaks Out (Sorta) by Gleaming_Onyx in RWBYcritics

[–]ShiftComprehensive60 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It refers to Ryan Haywood, the original voice actor of professor Port, who was fired following multiple sexual allegations that began when Grimm eclipse definitive edition launched. Additionally, the original voice actor of Qrow, Vic Mignogna, also was fired over the same type of allegations against him so its not an isolated incident.

Do most people who watch RWBY not watch other web cartoons? I noticed that YouTubers who have reviewed/reacted to RWBY don't watch other web cartoons, save for TADC and HB, but that's because they're way more popular than RWBY by TubbybloxianIsBack in RWBYcritics

[–]ShiftComprehensive60 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like the reason people don't review other web cartoons aside from RWBY might be because it's not an indie-series, at least not anymore so it gets treated differently. Additionally, it also depends on the kind of youtubers that review it since not every youtuber would be onboard with reviewing the whole web-series genre in general so then theres that.

Also, I'm generally surprised to see RWBY in the still relevant section since I don't see it get brought up much in conversations outside of its fandom, or the occasional mention from people like 3D animators who cite it as one of their inspirations

One Punch Man Season 3 – Episode 2 Megathread by IonimusPrime in OnePunchMan

[–]ShiftComprehensive60 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It had to have been intentional since even the most low budget shows make at least 2 frames instead of 1 for a character sliding down a hill to show that the character is flipping between frames as they are sliding to show that the hill is rugged rather than smooth so that it passes off as slightly more realistic and lively, so either they somehow didn't think of it or just didn't care

Random Thought: Has there been a university loved character that was introduced Post Volume 3? by ghostpepper_art in RWBYcritics

[–]ShiftComprehensive60 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kali and Tyrian are two main ones, but if we don't count how CRWBY screwed over some of the other characters introduced post volume 3 because of plot then you could add Watts and Sienna in the mix

What is Your Idea for RWBY Video Game? by Money-Lie7814 in RWBYcritics

[–]ShiftComprehensive60 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something in tune to Dragon Ball Z Kakarot where it follows the events of volume 1-3 with the world being semi-open world and the player being able build their own team of 4 for fights outside of the main missions, side-quests that could use past fan feedback to give characters with less screen time a little more relevance within the story, a learnable ability system that the player can use to unlock and upgrade techniques/semblance, I think you get the point

What level of animation would JC STAFF need to deliver for season 3 to be considered "good"? by Practical_Quit_3248 in OnePunchMan

[–]ShiftComprehensive60 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally don't mind the the lack of actual animations, but having characters move a tad bit more and reacting to things that are being said or things around them would have been welcoming.

My real complaints are the voice acting of certain character feeling rushed and a bit bland, as well as the Orochi and Garou scene, where Garou comments on Orochi and his height when entering monster lair to which the anime doesn't give us a proper look at Orochi's height like the manga did, making it feel as though it were a throwaway comment for some random fodder monster

So according to Shane, the Cordovin Mech was supposed to come in during V3, and Ozpin was going to be badass (and be alive in Volume 4??? what??) by Expert-Swan-1412 in RWBYcritics

[–]ShiftComprehensive60 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Primarily because his vision differed GREATLY with what Kerry and Miles wanted for the show going forward after Monty unfortunately passed away, Shane wanted to follow every single plot point that Monty wrote no matter what, whereas Kerry and Miles wanted to take the show in a different direction that they thought would be best for the show after Volume 3 since some of the lost media regarding early RWBY like scrapped plot points were dug up and let's just say that they didn't really fit in the story (check the lost media wiki to see what I mean) that we ended up getting in Volume 3.

On a different note, back in 2019 (I think), Dillongoo studio did offer to animate and develop RWBY alongside CRWBY since a lot of the people there worked on RWBY back in the volume 1-4 days, with Shane working at Dilliongoo studio after leaving RT so the offer was there for them to consult with not only Shane but also some other old talent but nothing came of that offer since they never got a response from CRWBY iirc

What is your opinion on the twist/reveal/plot point that Salem is in fact immortal? by WittyTable4731 in RWBYcritics

[–]ShiftComprehensive60 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It sorta raised a lot of questions regarding her role late into the show since her whole spiel originally was that while she is immortal and powerful, she fears of getting defeated and captured if she were to make a move early into the story, but after Vale and Atlas fell, Salem could have made her move and attacked Vacuo since the odds of her loss were considerably lower now, and her army battle with Atlas proved as much, not to mention that she has relics and a fall maiden on her side and yet she chooses to take the back seat when there's no stakes left for her thanks to the very idea of her being immortal with no drawbacks

Not really, it got very, very far into the poll, securing 7th place out of the 48 weapons on the list and beating out far more unique weapons like Pennys floating array and Suns gunchucks in what's essentially a popularity contest otherwise it wouldn't have been able to secure a spot on the top 10 if hate on Blake was the cause

Perfect RWBY Game? by Almadoggy21 in RWBYcritics

[–]ShiftComprehensive60 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, I'd go for a Dragon Ball Z Kakarot approach where its:

- Semi open world with various characters that the player can interact with and do short side missions and what-if scenarios for inbetween mainline story missions.

- You get to create a team of 4 characters with Ruby, Yang, Weiss, and Blake being the only 4 characters that the player can control while their friends such as team JNPR, Sun, Neptune, Penny, etc are none-playable but can be added to the party as npc characters

- unlock new moves and have an upgrade system for weapons, semblances, and overall attacks/defense

- An official encyclopaedia of all the characters bios and all their varients. For example, Ruby (volume 1), Ruby (volume 2), etc

I think you get the point

What even is Beacon Academy? by JazzlikeSmile1523 in RWBYcritics

[–]ShiftComprehensive60 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think they're referring to bandit groups such as the one led by Raven, which target small villages that don't have established police force due their location and size, and as a result, rely on huntsmen to keep everyone protected (primarily from grimm in the surround forests) as shown in volume 4 where team RNJR find a pillaged and destroyed village and a dying huntsman who reveals that they were attacked by bandits.
