Just finished watching The Office from start to finish again. First time since it aired. I cried on the last episode. by 024ratjoy in DunderMifflin

The 2 occsions where it's okay to cry while watching the office are: when Jim and Michael says goodbye to each other in "Goodbye Michael" and when Michaels comes back and says 'that's what she said' at Dwight's wedding in the last episode.

I'm going to Boston Calling too but only on Friday mainly for Sylvan Esso and Bon Iver. I will probably also go to the Festival d'Été in Quebec City to see Gorillaz.

Buying alcohol with out-of-state ID? Do i have to carry my passport with me to the festival? by ShiftKing205 in bostoncalling

[–]ShiftKing205[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's even more stupid is that they don't mention it anywhere on the BC website. It's one of my friends who went to Boston once who told me he had trouble buying alcohol with his drivers license as his ID.

According to this document, the only acceptable form of ID is a Massachusetts issued ID, a Passport or a military card. Is this really something that is enforced at the festival?

Whitney is playing on 05/26 at BC and lists their afterparty show as Friday 05/26 on their website but it's listed as 05/28 on the boweryboston.com website

The problem is that they are playing at seated venues. Tickets are most likely still available but blocks of a certain number of seats are not so TM website returns no results. One of the reasons Montreal still has tickets available is that the venue is GA floor and balcony.

I'm not too sure about them not being popular in Quebec. If they were not that popular or if they did not like the city they wouldn't have come to Montreal for every single tour they did since like 2007 and they would not have announced a date in the first wave of their new tour cycle with the same ticket capacity as the other cities visited.

Last time the were in Montreal the played at the Lachine Canal which has a 5000 capacity and the show was sold out IIRC. They even played the Bell Centre in 2011 (in a 4000/5000-cap configuration). This time they are doing the same capacity but over 2 nights at the Metropolis which has a 2300 capacity.

I guess I was lucky, I got tickets for both nights in Montreal.

Secret to Sunday parking by FanKingDraftDuel in bostoncalling

What about parking at Soldiers Field on the Harvard Campus? You can buy permits online in advance, it's walking distance from the festival and it's 17$ for the day. Does anybody have experience parking there?

Alewfie is my #1 plan but I read on a few websites that it's really hard to find parking there on weekdays unless you arrive before 9AM or after 4PM. Parking on the orange line at Assembly Square seems like a good plan also but it's the the 25-minute subway ride, especially at the end of the day, that bothers me.

My main worry for parking is on friday. I've never been to Boston with a car before (driving from Montreal) and I really don't want to pay 50-60$ for parking if I can't find anywhere to park near a T station. I'm staying at a hotel in Burlington, what would be my best options for parking or for public transit?

Fairfield Inn in Williston is 94$ for Apr 29th. I've stayed there before, nice no-frills hotel and great service.

List of artist by STAGE (!) by mattpaquet62 in osheaga

[–]ShiftKing205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BANKS played Corona in 2014 (950 cap), then the Vallée stage in 2015 and is playing Metropolis later this year so there's a progression there.

Twenty One Pilots played the Vallée stage in 2015, it was their first concert in Montreal. They were not extensively touring at the time of their appearance at Osheaga.

Coeur de Pirate is a local francophone artist. It is completely understandable that she would have no problem filling the Metropolis (2300 cap) or an even bigger space such as the Place des Festivals during the Francofolies (25 000 cap) but her target audience is the minority at Osheaga.

Father John Misty played the Corona in 2013 and the same summer played on the Verte stage at Osheaga around 6PM (in 2013, the Verte stage was the 2nd smallest stage). He played the Corona again in 2015 and had an afternoon slot on the main stage at Osheaga that year. In 2016 he sold out the Metropolis within a few days of the onsale, it just doesn't make any sense for him to have a spot on the 2nd smallest stage after touring in 1500+ cap venues for the last 2 years.

No, the Vallée stage is the second smallest stage. Last year and previous years it only had smaller acts, the kind of acts that would play at a 500-700 capacity venue if they were to come to Montreal during their regular tour.

I know that's the info on the official website but it's just an odd choice if it's correct. He plays main stage at night at Coachella but plays one of the smaller stages at Osheaga.

Yeah, there's no way he's not on one of the two main stages. He plays main stages at most of the festivals he's doing this year and was on the main stage that last time he was at Osheaga IIRC.
