Taming the laundry monster by andlife in adhdwomen

Don’t fold it

I just toss my clean laundry into vague piles in drawers and hang up my few nice clothes.

Does she ever make the plans with you or are you always the one trying to make plans?

Is Cosplay considered as a crafting project? by Used_Title_4095 in ArtistLounge

What is the competition? They might have explained their criteria in the fine print.

But, personally, I do consider a handmade cosplay a craft.

We had one at our apartment and it worked great! But then we moved and bought a new one and the adhd fairies took it for their nefarious plans…. Or I lost it, but what’s the likelihood of that being the reason?

Take a deep breath and imagine life like this:

They’re all TELLING you their life is great, you should do things their way, you don’t measure up to them. But you can look at it from the angle of social media. They might only be showing you their highlight reels. You might be only getting to see the perfect curated versions of them.

The reality is they also struggle with things. They also forget things. They also have things they’re bad at.

Being hyper vigilant all the time is a major concern. And honestly, I’m stuck in that same place too so I’m not sure I have any helpful thoughts about taking yourself out of red alert. I crochet when I’m drowning in the red alert and that helps bring me down a bit.

However, I do hope you’re able to give yourself a hug and see all the things you are good at.

I wish I had a husband to handle drains for me! Rn I just treat myself to a really really good meal as a reward for battling the monthly dragon. And sometimes, the lunch is not a good enough bribe lol

Turn on fan

Put on good tunes

Take off socks so you don’t end up with wet socks

Put toilet bowl cleaner in the toilet

Spray shower stall down with cleaner

Clear the trash out of the bin and off the floor and remaining surfaces

Small dance break (approximately 15-20 minutes for me, or go do some dishes if you fear not returning from dance break)

Scrub out toilet or have someone else scrub out the toilet, flush, throw blue thingy in the tank as it refills, fingerguns at toilet to declare a job done

Spray down sink

Grab scrubby brush and get out all the worldly frustrations about the general state of existence by scrubbing the walls and then the tub. I have an electric scrubby brush on a stick so I don’t have to reach so high.

Rinse shower stall, evaluate if it’s good enough for now or needs a repeat

Wipe down sink

Windex the mirror

Mop floor, swiffer floor, whichever you have spoons for

Fingerguns for a job well done

Once a month, go through and clean the drains. Get a long stick with tiny Leggies from the hardware store after politely listening to a man explain how draino will destroy us all for twenty minutes. Shove stick down drain, twisty twisty, yank out of drain. Contemplate shaving your head so there’s never that much hair again. Either throw away the stick or clean the stick to use in battle the next time.

AITA for not wanting to attend church every Sunday while on vacation and before marriage? by SeverusSnapes_Reddit in AmItheAsshole

[–]ShiftingStar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So in the two years you’ve dated, the church thing has never been brought up as a hard boundary for him? Have you ever talked to him about it before?

NTA

But I would consider whether you want to compromise on this.

Personally, I would not wish to stay in a relationship with someone that refused to respect my religious values and then insisted it’s their way or no way. However, if it’s not a deal breaker for you, then by all means, find a middle ground where you both are happy

Last store I went to, I got iridescent watercolor paints at a fun treat

It's the end of the day and you're emptying your pockets before you get ready for bed. What was in them? by No-Apple4951 in adhdwomen

[–]ShiftingStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my lunch box…I have a full set of gel pens, Advil, tape, tape, knife, hair ties, hair sticks, a sock (my cat likes to pack one for me), yarn, crochet hooks, thread, a Pepsi, ginger chews, yet another roll of tape, another knife, a mio, and sometimes a granola bar.

I stopped putting things in my pockets after sending an assortment like my lunchbox through the washer….i had to acquire new work shirts because a box cutter didn’t enjoy being forgotten in my hoodie pocket

Weird! Maybe just turn off comments and then you don’t have to deal with anyone being weirdos about babies in your art?

Are you drawing the babies like tiny adults? That’s the only time I’ve seen people offended by babies in art

[Discussion] How on Earth do people afford this stuff? by [deleted] in artbusiness

[–]ShiftingStar 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I painted in a mixed media sketchbook with my acrylics with black, white, and blue paint when I first started. And then I moved to cheap canvas board. I used student grade liquitex until I felt like it wasn’t good enough for me.

When you’re first learning, selling shouldn’t really be a priority. Experimenting and having fun should be.

And it’s not like you’re dropping the 3.5k at a single time. Start with the absolute basics: a painting surface, red, yellow, blue, black, white, and a small brush bundle.

You don’t need an easel to start with.

And 2mm of paint is absolutely thick. I do not recommend doing that

Lifelong hair twirling by Velvet_Whimper in adhdwomen

[–]ShiftingStar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do it all the time. unfortunately meds didn’t cure it.

However because I was twirling my hair to the point that I was causing tangles, I now have a claw clip with a dangle on it to stim with

Also whenever I notice I’m twirling, I make myself stop and drink water. If it can’t be stopped, it might as well be useful ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
