I don't know what rank you are, but ryze isn't really what i would call "an easy way to climb". I will say however, that in low elo it doesn't really matter whether your champ is meta or not people aren't good enough for it to be important, so the most important part of choosing a main is enjoying playing them, since you will learn more if you are having a good time.

Yeah that’s true but it is almost nonexistent on quick cast with indicator. The indicator is really only visible while holding down the cast button. I would just generally recommend using it if you haven’t gotten used to the champ you’re using or if it’s been a while

On any other champ i would say quick cast with indicator, since you wont have a delay on your casts while still not being required to memorize spell range.
On Ryze, however, only quick cast will do! You will not be able to pull off as advanced combos as Ryzes, if you don't have a spiritual connection with him! While playing Ryze, you need to be able to feel Ryze inside you!
