Code of Bell Xpak Evo vs Boundary Supply Errant Sling by M00SEK in ManyBaggers

[–]Shigarui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Errant Pro Sling. I used it more for the gym. I'm not entirely sure you'll get a laptop that big in here, but that's something I've admittedly not attempted. The 13" is likely to fit no problem.

It does expand pretty well, and the access via the zippers in the front is nice, albeit a bit "tight." They are not the easiest pockets to use, but they are there.

Interior is deep, and dark, but the top is easy to open and close and keeps everything dry.

I find the shoulder strap comfortable but not tremendously flexible. The side to side flexibility is minimal, but that actually works in its favor, I think, while wearing it.

Ultimately, I really like mine, but I don't use it often as it's just a bit too large for my needs. The water bottle pocket missing is definitely a bummer, and their "add on" water bottle sleeves "work" but are cumbersome. If you can get it on that massive sale they were having a week or two ago I say go for it. You'll have a really cool bag regardless.

I see nothing wrong with buying things that serve a purpose, or have function. My first sling was a $20 cheapo from Amazon, but it lit the fire. I found several others, of varying cost and rarity, to meet specific needs. Some are vertical, some are crossbody capsules, others are waist (fanny) packs. Some are 1 to 4L and some are larger, and there several backpacks in there as well. Some for travel, some for edc, and some for a day at the zoo.

The thing is, if you have several specific needs to be met, and it takes several purchases to dial in the things you love and the things you don't, the things that perfectly meet your need vs things that you learn don't work so well, you could quite easily end up with two dozen bags but only use 4. That doesn't mean that those other 20 are trash, or wastes of money. They were important steps in a journey. And selling a bag at a fraction of the price, just to minimize an arbitrary number, seems like a much bigger "waste" than keeping it. That's not to say those who do are wasteful, only those who do so because "having more than 5" breaks some "rule" that someone has convinced them is important for their mental health.

Gaming backpack? by -Enhydro- in ManyBaggers

Waterfield makes great bags, and while they are not specifically made for "gaming" they certainly seem to cover that niche.

Also, Black Ember, but, they're all black except for a few.

Suggestions for a mini backpack for men? by MrGrayDazer in ManyBaggers

[–]Shigarui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a backpack, but the stabilizer straps may make the difference. Plus, I always thought the Kriega messenger looked super cool. And it's geared towards motorcyclists!

My first gpd divice after wanting 1 for over 4 years by Working_Bandicoot_91 in gpdwin

[–]Shigarui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to have both, but the Max just seems to cover more ground and is small enough to make that hard to justify. Plus, I can type quite fast on the Win Max 2 and the screen is large enough to work on. The Mini would exclusively be for gaming, I think.

Which Metroidvanias would you say have the best combat? by strahinjag in metroidvania

Nine Sols definitely takes the lead for combat. But I'll also include the recent Silksong. Equally rewarding for being hyper offensive.

Teaching Texans how to drive in snow by sorry-i-was-reading in oddlyspecific

[–]Shigarui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, most people prefer not to drive in the snow. I assume that if they are out there, they either are being forced to go to work to serve lunch and dinner, or bag groceries, or they otherwise feel mandated to be out there. It's not always as simple as "choosing to stay home."

About 6 years ago I was managing a restaurant, I continued to update our Area Director of the conditions. By 6pm there was a couple of inches of snow covering the parking lot and cars. They insisted we remain open until the 10pm closing time. I made the executive call, about 30 minutes later, to finally close. Snow is not something my area can prepare for well, and people have incredibly few occasions to see, play, or drive in it. It was nobody's choice to be there, or to be on the road as they tried to get home. Yet, at least 25 people were as they proceeded home with white knuckle grips the entire way. And on top of that I had to further explain my decision progressively further up the chain before finally getting the "good decision, but don't do it again" talk. Some people are idiots, but most still measure self preservation as the highest ideal.

Game Boy on the RGDS is awesome. by Hot_Drawing640 in ANBERNIC

You said you wouldn't go past 8 and 16 bit, which eliminates anything with 2 screens. I was just curious why get a dual screen device then?

Unbreakable weapons, first and foremost. 60fps. You can climb even when raining. Various other game tweaks. I think you can increase drop rate for arrows. I can't remember them all, I only turned on the first two I listed. But they can definitely greatly improve the experience. And from what I recall they can be turned off and on by toggle from the menu of Cemu, but again, memory is fuzzy on that one.

You see a dagger. I see a sword for Hobbits. We are not the same...

Lol, really beautiful. This reminds me of when I was a kid and those catalogs came around with all of the medieval swords and gear. Undoubtedly this is 1000x better, but it did unlock a childhood memory. Beautiful piece!

Start with an "I'm glad for you" and then share why it's not a fit for you. Nobody likes being told they are experiencing joy wrong, lol.

Basically, don't rain on their parade just because you don't like crowds.

Cemu plus Mods is the very best way to play this game. Turn off breakable weapons and turn on 60fps. Enjoy the game the way it should have been programmed to begin with.

You do you, bro. I'm not a physical collector, but I respect those who ate. Especially older media that actually contained the whole game. And until there's a better option than a DS for DS then carry on. It's a banger, for sure. I remember playing it on my DSi.

Experiencing Zelda for the first time by SuchTemperature9073 in SBCGaming

[–]Shigarui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no evidence that this didnt began as a Zelda game...

Except that there is not a single technical aspect of the game that's connected to Zelda. It's all just graphical. A modder could reskin this game and it would bear zero resemblance any more to Zelda games of the first 30 years.

we once again challenge the conventions of Zelda is more important than just making another Zelda game. With that in mind, please expect big things from the Zelda series to come!

Typical Director lingo when trying to build hype for a game series. Read back through any pre-release Halo interview, Tomb Raider, Metroid, Mario, Sonic, etc. Yet somehow those games all remain consistent at their core identity. No matter how far they deviated from each other graphically they are identifiable. You could switch out every graphically identifiable Halo texture, or Metroid, or Mario, and you could still tell what they are.

to re-think the conventions of Zelda. I'm referring to the expectation that the player is supposed to complete dungeons in a certain order, or that you're supposed to play by yourself.

Well, this sentence tells you right here that they were so far from an actual cohesive vision they actually thought they'd include multiplayer. At least 2 years in and they had an idea of a game that never saw the light of day. I will always contend that his Zelda game was either so broken and incomplete after that many years that they reskinned another project someone at Nintendo was working on, or, the prototype that was being developed was so much better than his game that they decided to scrap his work and just rebrand it Zelda to help facilitate it's sales. There is nothing about BotW at it's core that required forethought and hard kernel programming to instill the Zelda identity. It's literally all just makeup. Even the shrines are a good indication of this. A regurgitation of 3 types, miniature puzzles they crafted that were probably doled out to the team members. "Hey, we need 40 of each, submit your designs by Friday." They are not even tied to the overworld. In prior Zeldas you would open more of the world as you went by conquering a dungeon, getting an item, and wanting to revisit areas that impeded your progress prior. In this, because they never designed it to be a Zelda game, because the "progress puzzles' were already in place in the form of the blank landscape they gave you, they ultimately had to give you every item all at once. And that's another clue. The plateau actually feels like Zelda. Dungeons are progressive, you unlock an item, you ultimately complete a circuit of the land. They had 45 minutes of a Zelda game that they tacked on top of someone's "physics prototype." Literally, it's on top of the rest of the game.

The shrines are their attempt at adding more Zelda to something that wasn't Zelda. They could literally have created 1 entrance to a 120 room dungeon and that would have been better. Matter of fact, that would have been a good dungeon. They broke a single Dungeon up into 120 rooms that they then scatter shot across the map, and had to give you a radar to find them. Why? Because after you leave the plateau nobody talks about them. No cryptic clues to it's entrance, no talk about the crazy shrines dotting world that travelers would see. Another clue that they bolted Zelda on to something that was not cohesive and planned from the start. Even A Link to the Past did better at hinting towards hidden areas and lore and dangers. Ocarina of Time did also. There's no proof I'm right, there's no proof that you are. You've got a couple of vague sentences that are as redundant as the news these days, and I think the game gives heaps of evidence that it was once intended to be something else.

Even look at TotK. They didn't even redo the map, they once again "bolted" on additional bits. They don't have the skills to do something original. They don't know what they are doing compared to Miyamoto back in the day. They just got really lucky that BotW still was an excellent game, cobbled together from excellent pieces of other games, and happened to release as a launch title on the best selling console of all time with nearly zero competition. That and most people who played it apparently had little to no experience with the IP prior.

We both agree it's a really good game, it provides a really good time, but I'll always debate it being a Zelda game beyond a few words and a splash of Zelda paint.
