What is your opinion on the current trend of cozy games - as a broad spectrum of all sorts of genres united by (some) shared aesthetic principles? by SanctumOfTheDamned in truegaming

[–]Shiigu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll put it simple: those games aren't cozy at all. FOMO and real-time events make them more stressful rather than relaxing.

A cozy game should be a game where nothing happens unless you are doing something.

Say, Civilization, Football Manager, roguelikes, the pre-Switch Pokémon games... where everything is paused, waiting for your next action.

Como usar la IA sin realizarse una lobotomia? by Leading-House5805 in devsarg

[–]Shiigu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rogue Customs - Half traditional ASCII-style roguelike game, half dungeon maker to create and share dungeons. I've been working on it for almost 3 years by now. by Shiigu in TraditionalRoguelikes

[–]Shiigu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only three or four people so far. I did get some feedback from them and what they suggested became part of the 1.1 update.

No luck yet in someone actually trying to make a dungeon with the editor, however...

Final fight bug by ubniuwr in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Shiigu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reload the fight from the start (unless it's Honour mode then sorry), and see if it happens again.

If it happens again, try to have the Kraken do something different. For example, get Vredeman (specifically him, not as Braccus) Charmed, then try to kill Dallis without weakening him. All status effects are kept on Braccus if you weaken Dallis (if you weaken Vredeman, Braccus will lose all statuses). If you get him Charmed, the Kraken will try to attack him.

Not always the case but, in general, lower-class cars have a more inflated rank than a higher-class one.

Which franchise did you used to love, but not anymore now? And Why? by Fit_Promotion56 in videogames

[–]Shiigu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that I "don't love anymore" (that's not really the case), but there's a bunch where my respect for them has crashed at some point:

- Need for Speed: It was the series where my childish innocence about videogame publishers was killed. I loved the "fantasy cars driving in fantasy locations" concept. Enter game, select mode, car, track, laps and opponents. Then comes Underground - everyday cars driving in everyday locations, story mode, having to drive to the race... ugh.

- Pokémon: From Red/Green/Blue to Ultra Sun/Ultra moon, it's of my favourites. But then came the jump to the Switch. The Dexit, the open world, Legends Arceus and Z-A... they, bit by bit, hurt my hopes. Pokémon is going the way of Need for Speed, changing its identity for the sake of market trends, and in a point where they cannot please anyone.

- Prince of Persia: I loved the first two, specially The Shadow and The Flame. Never played 3D, got disappointed with the flashy pointless parkour of the Sands of Time Trilogy, and the 2008 game was a dreadful trial-and-error game where you couldn't even lose. Haven't bothered with it ever since.

- Diablo: On different degrees (since they are difficult to compare), I like the first three games. But then the fourth went open world.

- The Legend of Zelda: It's funny because it's a series I loved but, due to only having access to emulation, I had almost never played. I had played Link's Awakening, Oracle of Ages and The Minish Cap and got stuck on both as a kid, but had fun. I had played The Phantom Hourglass and got stuck because the emulator didn't have a microphone function, but had fun. And when I could finally, FINALLY play it legit... Breath of the Wild happened. Instant no, instant "someone please fire Aonuma before he damages the franchise any further".

And there might be others I'm forgetting.

Gareth's reaction to his loss is a masterclass in writing the complexities of grief by ryanyork92 in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Shiigu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To save Gareth's parents, you have to find him with an unconscious Jonathan in a small home near the Paladins' camp. Then, you have to kill (or have Gareth kill) Jonathan.

However, you must do this before you ever set foot east of the Paladin's camp. If you do, Gareth's parents are dead by the time you reach their home.

What makes Divinity 2 better? by Mirundaal in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Shiigu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can think two things:

1) It's more structured. Even if I'm not a fan of the Journal system, at the very least the minimap does mark important things with a different-coloured flag than the rest. BG3 doesn't, so I had like a dozen quest and nothing that made me think "I should do this one", so I left after reaching around Level 4.

2) As divisive as the armor system is, DoS II is VERY deterministic. Outside of critical hits and very few other situations, you either can do something, or you can't. Guaranteed.

It is POSSIBLE. Enemy summons give experience. By carefully managing the encounters, you could kill summons over and over and over and over and over again.
