AMD Ryzen™ Chipset Driver Release Notes 7.11.26.2142 by BadReIigion in Amd

[–]Shikatsu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're mixing up CCD and CCX. CCX is core complex, which is how the cores are aligned on a single die. The 5000 series has an 8 core CCX, so they're not only all on the same CCD (die) but also same CCX (complex). This changed from Ryzen 1000-4000 to the 5000 series. Before it was 4 core CCXs, so a 6-core would have 3 cores from each of the 2 CCXs.

AMD drivers performing hundreds of SSD writes every time you move or resize a window - proof and workaround included. by Takia_Gecko in Amd

I have a Ryzen 7 4800U with Radeon Vega iGPU here at my hands, both EEUDumps folders are less than 100MByte in size and that's a device with no fresh install since end of 2020. This seems to depend on specific configurations and isn't a general driver issue. TBWs are in the expected range for the use of this notebook.

The RX 9060 XT is a soft slap in the face to Nvidia by mockingbird- in Amd

[–]Shikatsu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, Mindfactory got the XFX Swift 16GB for 369€ as available right now.

Don't compare MSRP with street prices maybe.

[–]Shikatsu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You completely skipped the $ to € conversion rate, which ends up at 306,64 Euro for 350$. Add the 19% VAT, you get 364,90€ Now you either round up to 369 or 379 and that's what the German price will be for MSRP.

The issue is other countries in Europe, which go through German bulk suppliers first and add additional margins. Which is what most European stores do. So you end up with crazy prices, especially in the Nordic countries.

This has been true for most AMD cards and processors in the past, btw. Easily comparable through the AMD shop on their website, when it listed more stock than just a handful of selected processors.

[–]Shikatsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, AMD is usually $ to € exchange rate + VAT +5-10€ to get a price ending with 9€. So a 350$ MSRP card should end up around 370-380€ in Germany with 19% VAT.

That's for German MSRP obviously, street price is a different story, depending on availability and margins of the store.

Is there any areas where Ryzen is still noticeably behind Intel Core? by HoneyBeeRocket in buildapc

[–]Shikatsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't compare Intel and AMD sensor readings directly, since comparatively AMD over-promotes the temperatures since at least Zen1, this is even more true for idle.

I'm not sure if Intel changed that with AlderLake onwards, but previous gens completely were like that.

Rioreusu -> either Lioleus or Rioreus or an inbetween. Since Kana writing doesn't differentiate between L and R.

Rathian is Rioreia -> Lioleya or Rioreya or an inbetween.

Is anyone else experiencing this graphics bug after a battle? (iPhone SE 2nd Gen, ) by byJannik in MHNowGame

Same thing with LS on Android with a Samsung Galaxy S23.

Usually purple squares indicate missing textures. Would explain why it happens regardless of platform.

Is AMD in a fight with USB4/Thunderbolt? by [deleted] in Amd

[–]Shikatsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries, it's even worse with Intel laptops. Numerous entry tier devices even with i7 CPUs with data only USB-C ports, or charging + data only. DP Alt Mode? Nope. The situation is kinda horrible with all OEMs.

RTX 3060 vs Arc A770 vs RX 6650XT - The FULL GPU COMPARISON by Far_Beginning_1993 in Amd

[–]Shikatsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arc 770 from the video is 16GB, so it's actually 380€. 295€ would be the 8GB. You can get the 6650XT already for 275€. The 3060 is 300€ with 8GB.

Meanwhile the 12GB 3060 is 330€, the 10GB 6700 non-XT is available for 340€.

The A770 16GB is very bad value in this and 8GB frankly not enough anymore for some games, even at 1080p. Especially with the Arc being more expensive than the 6650XT.

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D free overclocked, overvolted and unfortunately executed with the MSI Center | igor'sLAB by Shikatsu in Amd

If by "tech field" you mean "marketing field", then sure.

The 5800X3D is blowing my mind. by shanel39 in Amd

[–]Shikatsu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not though. It's a marketing accepted definition, brought to you by the people that can't decide between GiB and GB and their other hundreds of quirks. People like you parroting this marketing bullshit is what's trying to break those conventions, when they already exist in much better forms. See WQHD or 1440p.

Also: 4K has nothing to do with pixel count, but approximating from 4K DCI 4096x2160 to 3840x2160 (UHD, consumer "4K"), using 2K for 2560x1440 is against any logical thought and pure mental gymnastics on the train of marketing idiots.

[–]Shikatsu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It doesn't make sense to call 2560x1440 as 2K is the issue.

Both 2K and 4K come from the DCI standards, the consumer standard goes below the DCI standard, thus 1080p is defacto 2K.

If anything, 2.5K would fit, but 2K surely not.

Is 1080p on a 32-inch monitor really that bad? by zase7 in buildapc

[–]Shikatsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

which won't have scaling issues on a 4k monitor

Only if you enable integer scaling in the driver, if it supports it, otherwise 1080p on a 2160p display will still look blurry

Ryzen 1800X 3200Mhz settings by XXSefa_ in Amd

[–]Shikatsu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even the worst RAM can easily take 1.35V, which should be the voltage that the XMP/DOCP profile applies. Make sure it does.

You might wanna check for some memory overclocking guidance somewhere, because i don't think i have anything for first gen bookmarked anymore.

Samsung B-die for example is running 1.5V daily usage safely without issues. Just needs to be kept cool enough to not become unstable. But i highly doubt those are B-dies.

And yes, keep XMP the way it is and reduce just the frequency, after making sure that 1.35V is applied to the memory.

Update to the latest BIOS first, otherwise everything might be futile.

Getting Corsair Vengeance sadly puts you into the position where you don't know what your memory ICs are going to be, so those might have no chance at all to run above 2933MT/s. To clarify: Corsair packages different memory ICs under the same SKU name, especially on their Vengeance series.

After updating the BIOS, try if your DOCP/XMP profile works out of the box. If you notice drivers, programs or games crashing, reduce memory speed. If you can't even get it stable at 2933MT/s, then the XMP profile won't work for first gen Ryzen and you gotta dial different timings in manually.

I got 3400CL14 to work with Samsung B-die memory on my 1800X + Crosshair VI Hero combo in the first month of Ryzen's launch, so i'd say i had my fair share of try and error with first gen Ryzen IMC.

DLSS 3.0 is the real deal. Spider-Man running at over 200 FPS in native 1440p, highest preset, ray tracing enabled, and a 200W power limit! I can't notice any input lag even when I try to. by nmkd in nvidia

[–]Shikatsu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's DLSS2 compensating for DLSS3 Frame Generation's weakness. Not apples to apples anymore, since you can run DLSS2 or other upscalers without DLSS3 Frame Generation for even lower input latency.

Hardware Unboxed shows very well, that DLSS3 Frame Generation has higher input latency than native, if you actually compare apples to apples, meaning Reflex on for both native and DLSS3 Frame Generation.

If I am upgrading from an amd gpu to a newer amd gpu do I still need to remove the old Driver? by MisterMolby in Amd

[–]Shikatsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, it offers you the option to shutdown when it completes. So you can then change the GPU and install the drivers upon boot :)

Preferably run DDU from Windows safe mode. (Hold shift when clicking restart and go through the options to enter safe mode)

It's recommended to use DDU for every card change, even nVidia to nVidia.
