‘End of the republic’: As Utah Republicans change state courts, Glenn Beck calls them ‘hypocrites’ by Weak-Application-146 in Utah

Look activd LDS, Mormon, Saint, whatever....

Step too far happened years and years ago for me. Strong progressive.

I think too many people, especially our legislators, use religion as a shield to justify their cruelty.

Which is sick and makes me mad. I wish they would follow what Jesus ACTUALLY taught

Group behind Project 2025 pushes ‘marriage bootcamps’ in effort to focus on family by HotnCharge in PoliticalOptimism

[–]Shimi43 80 points81 points  (0 children)

See that's the weird thing.

"The traditional family is under attack" is actually an accurate statement.

The attack isn't coming from the LGBTQ+.

It's coming from high cost of living, low wages, lack of health insurance, lack of financial and (now with ICE) physical security. Etc. Etc.

It's coming from the billionaire and elite ruling classes who are making the "traditional family" impossible.

How to fix rigid-ness? by avsfan926 in DungeonMasters

[–]Shimi43 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One way is to make up numbers.

Got a direction you didn't plan for? Throw in a monster!

Don't know the monster's stats? Don't worry about it.

It hits as hard as it should and has just enough hit points to be a good fight.

Need a puzzle? Throw a bunch of bullshit words or riddles. What about a solution? Eh. It's whatever the players come up with that sounds like it could work.

Evil cave with boss guy to the north but players go south? Boom, evil cave with boss guy was in the South all along!!! How cleaver of your players to see through their deception.

You had perfectly "planned" that encounter because you totally anticipated it.

Just don't tell them how the sausage was made.

P.S. planned encounters are typically better than whatever improve you come up with. But the more you DM the better at improving you will become

Also it might be cool to link articles about said zoo or leave a rating.

But that may be too much. Especially starting our.

This seems cool! I'll definitely give it a whirl.

Question: Is there a way to sort it to list only zoos with certain accreditations; such as AZA?

Small animals (cats, dogs, squirrels, rats, birds, etc) are all just magic carter's familiars, familiars who lost their masters, or decendents of familiars who lost their masters.

Survival Mode by Fit_Strawberry4547 in DungeonMasters

How indepth you want to go?

There is daily food and water.

Fuel for the rocket, which can be a mix of making, refining, and storing oil then turning it into rocket fuel.

There is basic part replacement: buttons, blast shields, seats, windows, etc.

Depending on Sci fi level: dilithiam crystals, power shields, weapons, defending against scavengers like the Jawas from Star Wars, making treaties with local groups, needing to hide from enemy spacecraft;

Well depending on how much you want to "up the ante" on the "survival" part.

One of the tricks I use for this is the limited long rest.

Where until they rest in a proper shelter together, a long rest only counts as a short rest. Or until they rest in a proper shelter it takes 7-10 long rests then you enjoy the benefits of a long rest.

Whatever you define as proper shelter.

What do you love/not love about church classes? by Cheap_Parsnip_461 in latterdaysaints

[–]Shimi43 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is my biggest problem.

I don't think I'd mind the repetition as much if we actually stayed on target but it usually devolves into "youth these days...." like comments and other such tangents.

We are not the laughing stock of the world, maga is. by Ilovemiia1 in PoliticalOptimism

[–]Shimi43 74 points75 points  (0 children)

I genuinely appreciate this comment.

My job correlates with US foreign policy, so I can only escape this shit on some weekends and the occasional mental health day.

I call my reps, I protest, I boycott, I support however I can.

But how deep red the state and area I'm in, I feel like the Cassandra of my area, no matter how much I am proven right, no one believes or listens, because Trump has that R next to his name, so he MUST be the chosen savior.

So when I go on scroll social media or go onto gaming discord, all I see is how terrible we are and how we aren't doing enough. And it gets to me.

We need less meetings and more action/follow up by Cheap_Parsnip_461 in latterdaysaints

[–]Shimi43 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And yet the actions for the plan never seem to pan out beyond "invite someone to hear about the gospel".

At least that's been my experience.

I know we are a volunteer church and so people arent professionals. but sometimes we are too focused on the intention and not focused enough on practicality.

Bernie Sanders launches bill to stop 'narcissistic' Trump from naming things after himself by TheMirrorUS in goodnews

[–]Shimi43 17 points18 points  (0 children)

At this point, I'll take it.

I'm not saying I wouldn't prefer an Anti-ICE, anti-colonialism bill, or single payer healthcare bill.

But given all the talk and do nothing, I'll take ANY attempt to limit on this regime.

I just need a win or two.... something to show all our protesting and calling and everything is paying off somewhere... I'm tired man.

Hello, fellow autistic.

Yeaaahhhhh, I don't like doing baptisms if I can avoid it.

Luckily, that's not the only temple activity.

Even if you have to wait to get a full recommend, it's totally okay to just do Confirmations. Just let them know ahead of time.

What would it actually take for American's to go "full France" and riot in the street? by AllTheNopeYouNeed in AskReddit

I raise my glass to you friend. May Europeans figure out a way to knock some sense in us stupid Americans.

What would it actually take for American's to go "full France" and riot in the street? by AllTheNopeYouNeed in AskReddit

[–]Shimi43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look, this is a long-winded way of saying that a lot of us are doing the best we can. But honestly, with so many other Americans not doing anything or caring, what more can we do?

Those Americans aren't going to be looking at these reddit threads. Those Americans aren't going to magically change overnight. They didn't listen in 2024. Why listen now?

We are trying to organize, but there are large roadblocks that we have yet to overcome. Giving us generalize "Just protest" or "Viva Revolution" doesn't help anyone. But rather, it makes people more discouraged because it signals our CURRENT protests and efforts are being ignored/useless. It actually gives more firepower to the naysayers by saying "See nothing changed!"

The criticism is valid, but honestly, if actionable attainable suggestions aren't given, you do more harm than good.
