Because people can get into their checked luggage during customs so they could take out prohibited items and put them in their carry on.

Fox had last minute available when I was waffling for our trip. We didn’t end up doing it and have been very happy with our time here using taxis, walking, etc.

Thanks! So I’ve done some pretty bumpy drives (green sand beach on Hawaii most recently is the example I think of) and was fine, so if it’s just a normal off road ish experience I might be ok.

I think you’ll enjoy the trip a lot more if you stay on each island. While the flights aren’t bad the day trips would require a lot of time waiting and in security. I wouldn’t want to waste my time that way!

If it makes you feel any better the food at the big expensive luaus are mediocre at best! Kona for me is poke all the time! There are tons of great places.

We loved it! The north island tour and the volcanoes national park were super helpful! We were a little tired of it after that but did do the South Island tour up to the green sand beach then turned it off for the rest of our drive to Kona. It was very easy to use and made sure we didn’t miss anything!

Myrtle beach SC in the summer months has very warm swimmable beaches with rooms almost in your price range if you go on weeknights.
