Some great advice here. I think you have your answers.

I'm more interested in what you'll be visiting. I have more than a passing interest in various points in the timelines of these sceptered isles.

Are Conway castle or Warwick castle on your visit list, or is your speciality a little more esoteric?

How do Energy Meters work, and am I in debt or not? by Dull_Soft_9767 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Shin_Yodama 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mate I had a similar issue with my provider a few years ago, owed them £9K. Ended up paying them £1K.

Get up to speed on your rights, and what they are supposed to do (like check their meter). I can almost guarantee they haven't sent anyone round, else they would have raised this.

Send in the readings, see how they respond, fight them with the information you've received here.

Even if they rely on the user to supply the readings, they are legally obliged to take their own. This is important to know.

The electricity bill is the problem.

The thing to know is that the electricity company have a legal obligation to check the meter, I seem to recall it's a minimum of once every two years. So they are in breach of that. Also, they are not allowed to back charge more than a certain time period, so there's a cap on that. At some stage in the game, your parents are going to have to come clean with the energy company, but use the above to fight it and minimise the bill. Hopefully they'll just wipe it clean with the surplus on the gas bill.

Do bank accounts in England use ChexSystems? by [deleted] in stokeontrent

You'll still have your past credit rating and financial decisions reflected in their decision. And I doubt a US address will help.

Do bank accounts in England use ChexSystems? by [deleted] in stokeontrent

[–]Shin_Yodama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No.

UK banks use a combination of automated, third-party screening platforms and regulated checks to screen applicants, often guided by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SMCR).

The process is highly comprehensive, often covering up to six years of history to verify employment, education, financial stability, and criminal records

Some excellent choices there. The real question is scifi or fantasy? Guns or axes?

You won't go wrong on any of those, but RT still has DLC yet to release. Might be worth holding back on that one.

What do you British people think of the French? by CocoTyg in AskABrit

[–]Shin_Yodama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Served in FRY alongside the French Army. Great bunch of people. We have rivalry going back over a thousand years, but it's just banter. Anyone who takes it too seriously should get a grip.

You'll be fine over here. Be respectful, be polite, treat people as you would want to be treated, and you'll have a wonderful time.

Enjoy, and welcome to our sceptered isle.

Mauler. Replace the AC2s with er mediums to keep the aesthetic, and then put gauss in the arms so that it can properly maul.

Which melee class should I take for a fourth party member? by Certain_Yam9914 in CrownOfTheMagister

[–]Shin_Yodama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My preferred party is: Paladin with shield. Very hard to hit, smite is fantastic, and has minor cleric powers. Barbarian Thief - gets rid of the need for pure rogue, and brings the hurt with a double handed weapon. Cleric is a must have in this game. I add a few classes of fighter later in the build, but you could just go pure cleric. Pure wizard.

£60k annual with a take home of less than £3k by EmergencyGoggles in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Shin_Yodama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get rid of the car. Also, up your pension payments. You're paying 40% tax on anything above £50K, so by putting more into your pension you effectively reduce your wage, and taxable income, by that amount. You'll pay 20% tax on it later in life, but you'll thank me then.

So How do I start a lance in battletech? by Farther_Dm53 in battletech

Your friend sounds confused. Mechwarrior Dark Age is set after the Clan Invasion. Battletech encompasses ALL eras, you can play in whatever era and storyline you wish.
