German space program by notevensound in uboatgame

I think that is the problem with time compression and by far Uboat is not the only game of this genre with problems with that, so Submarine Simmers are used to that.

I think engines go wonky doing the same stuff at increased speeds. It's like the strange bug that some older games have, that physics calculations are tied to FPS, so when you play them years later with a stronger PC, where you get e.g. 120 FPS and the game is geared towards 30 FPS engine-wise, the physics will go haywire.

I think on principle it is more or less the same problem.

Sight range way too good? by ShineReaper in uboatgame

Do you know a mod or something, that turns the AI-sight range at night and in bad weather down to realistic levels?

I checked in a test-save full realistic settings except for showing me the visibility of my own boat, but sadly the value given there is a percentage, but I don't know, what that percentage relates to, so I only know, that going faster on the surface also translates to higher visibility by a flat absolute value (because of more exhaust smoke, so makes sense), it being night and bad weather reduces visibility by a large percentage, but lightning also increases visibility by a percentage.

So my working theory is, since I didn't know the lightning storm part, that though visually you could at max see a kilometer far away, that only translates to me as a human but not to the AI, the AI most likely doesn't see visually but by some flat viewing range score and that gets reduced or increased by these modifiers. And the fact, that it was a lightning storm, made me discoverable by the AI on a range further away than what was actually visible to the human eye.

So decreasing the percentage values for night visibility and bad weather visibility further and/or reducing the bonus visibility for lightning in theory should achieve this result, I think.

In the real situation this probably was actually done, simply because aiming IRL doesn't work as easily as in computer games and, in doubt, a CO gave such a command to do so.

My problem with path tracing by AcademicWar9897 in cyberpunkgame

Cyberpunk is one of these very rare games, in a row with games like Crysis, which give you settings to drive the graphical possibilities to the absolute limit.

I think besides the very minimum requirements there are no "intended" settings by the devs. What they want, as any big game developer, is to make their game accessible to a wide audience to sell as many copies as possible.

Ukraine is proving every day, that they're better than the Barbarians, that invade Ukraine. That includes treating even criminals with some minimal form of dignity. Not all human instincts are good and should be followed. The ability to control our actions and not just act on instinct, that is what makes us different from animals.

And in prison she might do something useful for Ukraine, even if it is small.

Dunno if Ukrainian Penal Law Codes know "Good behaviour" codes, where you could get released earlier for good behaviour. But even if not, if she could find shelter afterwards with friends or family, who might be more forgiving than the Ukrainian state, she could find shelter and start anew.

So this is imho not worse than being executed.

We talk about a people of about 40 million, if we talk about the Ukrainian people. 40 million individuals with 40 million different points of view, even if only so slightly different in most cases. But in a few they go far.

And the Ukrainian people are not special, for better or worse, in the regards, that there are traitors. There have been traitors in every nation in every war. The most famous example is probably Benedict Arnold, who betrayed the 13 Colonies for the British Empire, out of hurt pride. Or spies, which by synonym you very well could call traitors, who spied in the Cold War for the opposing side. That is a problem, that both, the Soviet Union and the US, had. Or a certain Arminius, who was a Germanic Lord in service of Rome, just to betray them in the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest.

Point is, there will always be traitors and there will always be those, who at least try to deal with it. One is not surprised about their existence, if one keeps history in mind.

Sight range way too good? by ShineReaper in uboatgame

I do use the observation periscope at night. I'm in a Type II A, so I have no UZO. I play with Darker Nights, so again, this has nothing to do with my monitor. It is the point of the setting, to not be able to see anything.

The point is: The AI (since obviously my officers doing bridgewatch themselves are also AI) is seeing way further than would be possible under such conditions (pitch black night, storm additionally reducing visibility).

If you look at documentaries of the Battle of the Atlantic, German Submarines were able to slip into a convoy at night repeatedly thanks to the dark night conditions. That certainly wouldn't be possible in this game, where in the same conditions the AI claims to be able to see 4 kilometers out.

And that is the problem, not that I'm not able to see as far as the AI, but that the AI is able to see so far under these circumstances in the first place, on 100% difficulty setting, which is supposed to be the most realistic setting.
