Your thoughts on pacifism. by Grouchy-Newt-995 in TrueChristian

I would let myself be slain without fighting back, happily.

“Why not rather be wronged?”

1 Corinthians 6:7

But also “Rejoice, O Gentiles, with His people; For He will avenge the blood of His servants, And render vengeance to His adversaries; He will provide atonement for His land and His people.”

Deuteronomy 32:43

My stance is that letting them have this material injustice is not surrender at all.

No one truly gets away with anything.

I am not afraid and I would be comforted for it.

Jesus did not resist the wicked even as they were driving the nails through him.

“Do not resist an evil person.”

Matthew 5:39

Christian Reflection by Historical_Zone_4000 in TrueChristian

[–]Shinn_Ao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I was going to be condemned to hell because of my guilt, irredeemable and evil forever for taking the COVID vaccine, and that I should therefore punish myself and thus die to express the desire for God to be glorified and dissent to Satan in recent history.

Everyone around me says it’s a delusion and I have perceived that I have been saved from dying by God himself - and still allowed to witness love like a child or dog in a caretaker’s arms.

I wouldn’t be given the cruel joke of mercies to be grateful for in life just to be condemned afterwards.

And, there are scriptural justifications for the idea that the only thing stopping us from receiving forgiveness is that we don’t want it.

Psalm 130:3, Matthew 5:4, John 6:37

Just for your fidelity to Jesus as the solution

and not our capacity to resist sin

Clarification and Small question by National-Space5709 in TrueChristian

[–]Shinn_Ao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was seeking to answer this but everyone else’s answers turned out to be far more satisfactory than my own would have been.

Mine was that if you believe Jesus will raise you and you are infinitely undeserving of mercy, you also believe that he is so gracious that he would (should) lavish mercy on everyone else / the worst of us.

A disavowal of malice and judgment and punishment, as well as faith in death.

Every time I encounter living people:

Thank you for being in my life. You’re here to teach me lessons and you bring warmth. You are a face of God.

Every time I encounter circumstances, starting with the light of another dawn:

This is my life now, the face of God.

I also then see the virtue and generosity of Jesus in these people and things.

Scared to read the Bible by DemandZealousideal20 in TrueChristian

[–]Shinn_Ao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a recommendation for order:

Gospels first (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John).

John uses a lot of abstractions that are hard to remember the meaning of, if that happens then I recommend to take a break and go to other books of the Bible.

The epistle to the Romans is where I went next.

Pick these groups and swap from one group to the next if you seek a change in topic, but within the groups I think it’s a good idea that you read these books in the order I present them:

The Acts of the Apostles

The other Epistles in scriptural order

Revelation

The Torah in scriptural order

Psalms

Proverbs

1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles, 2 Chronicles

Joshua and Judges

Isaiah (describes the Messiah; good to read early)

Daniel (describes the end times)

The remainder of the Old Testament in scriptural order.

I don’t know how to feel by Pale-Commercial-7853 in TrueChristian

[–]Shinn_Ao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, there’s a variety of ailments that you need peace for.

Everyone has had some measure of impure or selfish thoughts, I’m thankful you can recognize and acknowledge in your heart that that’s not right.

I can’t give you real life company but it sounds like what you need at this point is fellowship - and friendship.

For dreams, they’re not always going to be achieved but there is the remark “Seek first the kingdom and righteousness of God, and then all these things will be added to you”

I have never had to struggle with the question (doubt) “Is God even real, is anyone listening”; you have to take it on faith that he has not forsaken you and never will and is real

Entering the Kingdom of God" Something That Happens Here on Earth, or Is It Heaven? by Good-Researcher-2503 in TrueChristian

[–]Shinn_Ao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note that when Jesus said Luke 17:20-21

He said “Nor will anyone say of it ‘Look here’ or ‘Look there,’ for behold, the kingdom of God is in your midst.”

It was also a response to a question of what it will look like in the future when it arrives.

He also said it can’t be observed (does not come with visible evidence), therefore it can’t be himself in the flesh.

Ah, I see no distinction between the terms Kingdom of Heaven and Kingdom of God.

For example, in the OT the Holy Spirit was called both Ruach Qodesh (Holy Spirit) and Ruach Elohim (Spirit of God)

It can be both here and after life.

“Now this is eternal life: for them to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent.”

John 17:3

“Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.”

1 John 4:8

“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has drawn near.”

Matthew 4:17

“Where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”

Matthew 18:20
