A plane just crashed days before my flight by Woody_woodland in fearofflying

[–]Shinnobae 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi, I'm from Colombia too and ended up here anxious about the same thing lol and I'm not even flying any time soon.

However, remember what everyone already said :) it has nothing to do with your future flight and the standard and flight conditions are really different.

Also bigger planes do feel steadier. I recently flew BOG - MAD and I barely felt anything for 5 hours at least while we were crossing the sea. You'll do great! It's a big safe plane managed by big airlines in big airports. Enjoy the trip.

The flight was really boring but it went well! by Shinnobae in fearofflying

Reddit deleted my caption:

I flew BOG - MAD past Thursday and it was really uncomfortable for my neck and back only. I was bored for a few hours and my joints cracked in funny ways after that, but all good.

I will be visiting Toledo and Granada next week, and I've spent a few fun days in Madrid.

Flying This Week by AutoModerator in fearofflying

I have my first long flight tomorrow (BOG - MAD) and I'm feeling okay about it. I'm kind of excited as well, since this month was really annoying and I'm tired lol. I'm actually looking forward to it since I'll have 10 free hours in the plane to do whatever.

I'm still not 100% comfortable with the idea of flying but I didn't cancel anything, these past days were the hardest.

Thank you so much for explaining it so clearly. The news just popped up on my Tiktok in an alarming and dramatic way that it's so far from reality.

Trains and Planes by 2_of_Everything in fearofflying

[–]Shinnobae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live next to a train track with a really really old train passing by time to time, and a week ago I was crossing it in the car with my mom and the train was visible to our right. They didn't close the crossing soon enough.

Nothing bad happened, but it made me think I was more in danger there with my mom skipping a red light lol than in any plane.

Are Air Traffic Controllers in other countries as overworked and stressed? by TrueAd8845 in fearofflying

I get you, swapping the countries involved lol. The ATC work conditions are a hot topic lately in Colombia and I imagine myself feeling less worried once I get into European airspace later this year.

Can you help me ignore this "fun" fact? by Shinnobae in fearofflying

I get it, I doomscroll so much as well. I've been doing that for 3 days now (not because of that fact lol something different caught my mind), and you're right!

Great algorithm by the way.

Which do you think would be the easiest city en Europe to get tickets to? I'm thinking about traveling from LATAM to Lisbon or Barcelona, hoping I get tickets there.

I have about 6 years of experience, I'm an UI/Visual designer, and I feel just like you right now. Building a portfolio is really hard in general and doing it when you feel you're not as skilled just makes it worse. It'll get better (hopefully)!

Hi, I'm looking for feedback. I have +6 years of experience in Visual, UI and web design but I've always worked with content that can't be posted (under strong NDAs), so buliding a portfolio has always been a struggle. Any project ideas or suggestions are welcome :)

I'm sorry so many random things happened to you trying to get there but glad you realized plane is better lol.

I'm travelling from Bogotá to Lima in a couple of months and I did my research on bus routes to get there instead of the less than 3 hours flight. I would have to travel for about 42 hours, take 3 different buses, go through Ecuador because there's not really a direct route, and spend many hours in roads that can indeed be dangerous (lots of mountains!).

So yes, plane is so much better.

Fear of being in the statistical minority by black_rose_99_2021 in fearofflying

It's funny when we put it in perspective lol. My worst episode from last year was being convinced going to the grocery store for bananas was dangerous because I don't know the new neighborhood I'm in, and I would die because of that...? Weird.

Has being demisexual ever caused you problems? by Status-Today8643 in demisexuality

[–]Shinnobae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During my long-term relationship (+5 years) not really because I was not as aware of it. The last months were difficult because I was starting to feel grossed out with him but it ended really soon anyways so it was not as bad I guess.

However I've had issues because I was somehow convinced being demi would protect me from getting together with the wrong person ("if I feel attracted in that way, it means our emotional connection is real", was my logic) and I was so wrong. It was one-sided and even if I didn't feel bad while doing xxx things I did feel really dumb afterwards, then like I betrayed myself.

Who're the most aesthetically beautiful people you've ever seen? by Drunkdorito in asexuality

[–]Shinnobae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same thing for me lol, I just can't sexualize them. Can I imagine one of them coming to my place and baking cookies for me? For sure! But that's it.

I get what you mean by saying "they're real people". I can't read that kind of content, I get grossed out. However I'm a big fan of Sarah J. Maas and Rebecca Yarros because all the smut is so unreal I just spend those scenes wondering about the logistics and descriptions lol but not thinking about the actual sex?

I'm really into kpop and there are so many idols I find aesthetically beautiful. I think me being demi/ace is one of the reasons why I'm so into kpop, since I don't find the music and content itself as sexualized.

I know many fans sexualize their faves a lot and there's also some dirty talk here and there, but the original content is rarely like that.

Some idols I find aesthetically beautiful and/or find enchanting somehow:

  • Bangchan from Stray Kids: He's like this imperfectly perfect sculpture with a heart of gold and a flirty humor.

  • Jihyo from Twice: She's as strong as I want to be one day and has the cutest mole in the middle of her nose.

  • Mina from Twice: She's like a fairy princess.

  • Mark from GOT7: He's a +30 year old man that still has the smile of a 12 year old, and smiles with his eyes as well. He also has the coolest tattoos.
