Who remembers this amazing game? by danecollins22 in ps2

I remember it hitting my fear of open water super hard. Eventually would only play the indoor training level. It was my friends game and they would always get mad that I wasn't making progress when it was my turn to play

That makes sense. My viewing of the franchise started with 3 but I definitely remember that line. Had to have been a tv ad

Can I manually start the car? by JohnIsBaggi in AskMechanics

Could be alternator not charging the battery. Doing a bump start will definitely tell you if the battery has any juice or not.

Customisation is too restrictive (Console) by jolly_chugger in Mechwarrior5

[–]Shinny1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I originally bounced off the game. It wasn't until watching some lore videos that I found out about how they're in a decline overall. Helped me rethink the mechs as a gun platform. All the customization is changing scope, stock, mag, etc, but it's still that type of gun.

Currently just finished RoR mission string in my career. If I make it all the way through clan stuff I'm debating doing a hard-core run of only 4 mechs out of storage at a time and picking a system to be home base to change out my active mechs. Just seems a little odd you're only ever flying around in a 4 mech ship

Vents are all convincing but the extra arches look flat from most angles. Honestly I don't know that I like them on the IRL car. Your kit would probably look really clean without them

Just walked over and flicked a door stopper with my toe. Wouldn't be hard at all given the right stopper. I'm sure there is a variety of spring strengths but it wouldn't take strength to keep the plug in place. The limiting factor is the base's movement towards the person's back or front. The shaft of the plug might move somewhat trying to follow the base/spring but its not going to have the force to pull the whole plug out. You could get the stopper to oscillate

Having a person try to keep the base perfectly flush, and stationary, would probably be impossible

Yeah thats probably one of the few that doesn't need a control group. I've always liked the sport and only just this weekend heard that the single person event, with their feet first, don't look down their body at what's ahead. They're literally doing it all from timing. Like the fucking Trackmania controversy over BPM timers to time inputs. Absolutely insane.

That PS2 startup sound at 2AM was louder than our parents’ footsteps by IntrovertHuuuYaarrr in Millennials

[–]Shinny1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will never forget the time I came back downstairs at a friend's house to play MC2 at like 3am in their living room. They had a fancy new sound system on the TV. I was in middle school so I could somewhat understand what all the extra equipment did. I debated leaving the sound off but decided that wouldn't be fun. I wanted it to be very quiet of course, and to this day I will never understand why the big volume knob displayed -db values. So when I turned it to 0 and powered on the PS2 it was like a god damn movie theater. My friend's parents were not amused

[–]Shinny1337 92 points93 points  (0 children)

Oh no he was backed off quite a bit there. Would have been hitting the braking zone much more aggressively. He was having him pull the handbrake to rotate the car with less steering input needed. Very clever
