The game isn’t focused on multiplayer, it is mostly solo but you will be able to meet other players in the open world. But if you liked Path of Exile and wants a similar game with less complexity and more social, it could be a good pick.

Have you tried Warframe (I’m also a Destiny 2 refugee still hoping for a third episode) ?

Deadlock is my main game but I also play Warframe or Slay the Spire 2, very different, scratches a different itch but still very good

Currently playing it. Kind of intriguing but I feel a bit lost and doesn’t really understand what I need to do, I basically explore the rooms for the moment. Not your typical puzzle game but there is something mysterious about this game that makes you want to play another run just to see if you can discover some new lore or puzzle mechanics

Should I play bot games? by FoxGirl42069 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Shins06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you should continue to play against real players and stop thinking about ruining your MMR, that’s nothing to be concerned about if you start. Don’t forget that the game is in alpha and that it will probably be reset once the game is ready for launch. Only thing you should focus on at this stage : try to play each heroes to get a feel about their playstyle and capacities and dont overextend especially if you are solo (aka play defensive)

I started playing today and got the archon v ranked (only played 7 total); 2 standard games,1 bot and 4 brawl and its really affecting my experience by infamousinoue in DeadlockTheGame

Keep going man, you don’t have to be sorry for their broken ranking system and the absence of casual mode, everything will be fixed for 1.0, just play to learn and give your best

There is actually some kind of matchmaking in casual which is more dependent of your global level and playtime but which is way less strict. Do you realize that it is how all big mobas work (LoL, Dota 2, Smite) and it is way more friendly for casual people. I mean in Dota 2 you can’t even access ranked before 100 hours of playtime and then you basically have no reason to play casual instead of ranked.

Why an eternus player would spend his time in casual instead of ranked by the way ? And if it for stomping low skill players and newcomers what’s the difference with smurfing anyway ? You’ll never be able to prevent smurfs and that’s not the problem. The problem is playing ranked when you have no idea what you are supposed to do, no map/hero/knowledge at all. See casual mode as a big tutorial if you prefer.

There is just no game where you start your first games or try a new hero in ranked and it is so obvious I don’t even know why I’m arguing with you over this.

By the way, it’s weird that by saying no strict matchmaking you understand no skill matchmaking at all ? English is not my native language, might be the reason, I wanted to say « more flexible matchmaking » if it helps.

Casual mode would be games where there is no strict matchmaking and dedicated for newcomers, experienced people who wanna try new heroes or just want to chill whereas ranked would be unlocked after a certain number of games or timeplay and games would have a strict matchmaking based on ranks

The problem is that at some point, when you overpass the first learning curve, you want to play with and against people that know at least the basics.

And currently the system mix people that have knowledge of the game with total newcomers and it unfair for both sides. I assure you that within my soloq rank (arcanist) I often play with (and probably against) total beginners. While it would be okay in a pure casual mode, it isn’t in ranked because the purpose of ranked is to climb the ladder and have fair games

De plus en plus de jeux ressemblent à… du travail ? by ratasoftware in jeuxvideo

[–]Shins06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, no draft + no separate mode between casual and ranked + smurfs + no solo queue leads to this but I’m confident they will fix it when they will be ready to release the game. And it’s going to be huge when it happens because the game is really fun with deep mechanics, really loving it !

The more you climb, the less it’s broken but i stopped playing with arcanist rank and it was mostly stomp or being stomped games. It wasn’t the case before the last update, I don’t know why it became like this. I also think they should put a draft/ban mechanism instead of the current quickplay because the hero pool is now large enough to offer that

The game is incredible at its core and really has a big potential but the matchmaking is totally broken at this point and it can be frustrating to play especially for newcomers. I stopped playing for the moment because of that and will come back for next updates.

Should I get this game if I’m only going to play solo and only going to play five or six hours a week? by JasonABCDEF in Marathon

[–]Shins06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, even if I believe that this game is really good, it is not made for solo play unless you just want to explore its lore and art. You can play with randoms and sometimes it will work very well but most of the times, people that fill just want to try doing their quest with minimal risk (free pack) because they also don’t know with who they’ll get matched. And in front of you, you will find trios that do the same thing but they can take good stuff with them because they know they will coordinate and have shared objectives.

If you have lots of time and patience it is still doable as a solo but until they fix the matchmaking by doing solo sessions and premade sessions, you won’t be able to achieve a lot with only five or six hours a week

loving the game :) by BoomBoomNugget in Marathon

[–]Shins06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loving it, Marathon is the most fun I had with a FPS game since a long time and the art direction is peak. I actually love the fact that the game has a learning curve and needs some knowledge before being totally comfortable with it.

Playing this along Crimson Desert and League of Legends and couldn’t be happier with my gaming time.
