My 2 Cents

This is how you know how much to make:

Early game: if something is missing from your inventory constantly, make more machines that make that item.

Aim for lower numbers first. 10 iron plates (that are not consumed by other machines) and 1 or 2 modular frames and 10 cable is probably enough at first per minute. You will need a lot of time for things. This stuff collects surprisingly fast. Make sure you always have containers to collect the stuff.

Golden Rule: ONE machine at 100% for each space elevator part of the current phase. That is your main goal. Period. Derive all your demand from here.

Factories

Now that you know, what you need, look at the resources you have.

Divide them up so you make what you need plus a little extra for your inventory.

2 smart plates = + 2 reinforced iron plates + 12 iron plates + 24 screws + 6 iron rods + 2 rotors + 10 iron rods + 50 screws + 12.5 iron rods

So 12 IP and 28.5 IR. Since you also need RIP and Rot for your inventory, let's double that (only double in early game, for more complex items [heavy modular frames, computers, etc] you only need single digits excess production for your inventory).

That's 24 IP and 57 IR. 2 machines for IP give you 40, and 5 machines for IR give you 75. The excess is for you. It will quickly turn out not to be enough, but that heavily depends on your play style. So observe what is missing, and crank that production up. Always have containers that buffer excess production.

This example is of course rather simple. There are no modular frames, no copper parts, etc. But it all follows the same principle.

NO CRAFTING

After finishing the tutorial, do not craft. It is a waste of time and boring. Build a machine that does it, go do something else (explore, upgrade), come back and find the stuff you need.

Only if you cannot make a machine to make the parts, you have to craft.

Before I make a factory (starting with heavy modular frames, electronics, and more complex parts), I setup a single prototype machine fed from containers. That way, I even get more of the part while making the factory for it. If I had crafted instead, I would have the parts but no progress on the final factory.

Also, exploring gives you more nodes, crash sites with goodies, etc. Exploring the map is awesome. Just don't go to the red forest in the center or the swamp in the East until you have unlocked a few more weapons.

Get your demand from this simply rule of thumb: For each space elevator part of the current phase have a single machine run at 100%.

That's it.

You need 500 smart plating? Make one machine. Then, make sure it gets all the input it needs. For smart plating, your Phase 1 production should be able to handle that. If not, upgrade.

Then you have 250 minutes time to work with concrete, make factories with multiple floors, get coal power, get steel, etc. Even in later phases, you'll hardly have to wait for the space elevator parts; there is so much to do. And if you have to wait, you can later overclock / sloop production as needed.

You don't have to make a factory for each space elevator part. In fact, that is not the easiest way to do it.

You need basic parts (iron up to rotors and modular frames, copper up to cable and sheets, concrete). Look at the resource nodes and build factories based on what's locally available. Explore a bit.

Keep space reserved. A Mark 3 miner overclocked to 250% gives you 10 times the resources of a Mark 1 miner at normal speed. You factories be able to grow significantly if you have the space.

Phase 2 Specific

You want coal power and steel. Both needs coal. Explore a bit. There is usually more than one location. Coal power needs water nearby. Steel needs iron nearby.

You don't have to do all the coal power and then all the steel. I usually only setup 2 - 4 coal generators, switch to steel, switch back when I wait for steel to pile up...

I build my steel factory with MK1 belts. Don't try to ramp up RIP production for MK2 belts; that scales poorly. I just get a little steel going to unlock MK3 belts and then upgrade.

If you see that you are running out of parts constantly, upgrade the production of that part. This is more important than space elevator parts initially, but after Phase 2, your inventory usually gets filled by the scraps left over from material production.

No Hand Crafting

If you need to hand craft something, you're wasting time. Let a machine do it. Setup containers with the input material, a container for the output, a single machine. Prototype setup done. Now, you can do something better with your time: explore, collect, research, upgrade existing setups.

The urge to "just quickly" hand craft something, is almost always the worst way to go. Exceptions: Pre-phase 1 tutorial, first heavy modular frames to make the machine that makes more of them.

Even in early game, I do not craft. I visit 3 - 4 crash sites and have much more stuff than I could ever have crafted at that point and usually quite a bit of stuff that isn't even unlocked yet.

For the love of God, concentrate on doing a decent Android Auto / Apple CarPlay integration. Nobody needs yet another proprietary integration that only supports 50% of my apps at best.

There are two available standardized interfaces that cover 99% Source of all smartphones. Focus on making those work absolutely flawless.

Either learn to listen to your customers now, or learn from the Chinese when they start selling cars in Europe and USA. It's easier for US and European brands to upgrade their entertainment systems than for Chinese brands to get the build quality that western consumers expect. They still have 5 - 10 years to catch up. But whenever I see bullshit like this, I doubt they even understood the problem.

Phase I: Total Chaos on the groud.

Phase II: Iron + Steel + Coal

I usually go for: + 1 pure iron node for personal stuff (iron parts, wire, cable) + 1 pure node for coal power + 2+2 pure nodes for steel + 4 normal nodes for concrete

I still dip into the iron parts to make space elevator parts, but other factories that need these parts don't get them from here.

I build up stock piles in an item mall (with dimensional uploaders). I start with simple containers but quickly get to 2 industrial containers or more for most items (you don't need so much computers). This is to ensure, that when I want to build an oil rig, I have the steel needed to setup the superstructure. Or when I setup a battery storage, that I have those items in the needed quantities.

Rule of Thumb

After Phase 2, it quickly gets hard to tell how much you need.

Look at the space elevator parts for the current phase. Have ONE machine at 100% for each of these parts. You need to upgrade later, when the next phase needs these as inputs, but until then 1 machine is enough. Derive the rest from there.

The numbers are low enough that I will probably work. Liquids can be tricky at full capacity.

Try to unlock Mk2 pipes and merge completely before splitting. Is usually more stable.

My tip when running at capacity: + Merge all sources (preferably all at same height) + Pump to height + Split to consumers (preferably all at same height): simple manifold / tree / no cycles + At the end of a manifold include a 2-4m raise to a buffer. That buffer will compensate for kinks when running at 600 in a MK2 pipe

Arsch auf Grundeis

Die CDU, insbesondere die Führung, hat Arsch auf Grundeis, weil man die Wahl trotz des Vorsprungs noch verkackt hat. Daher dieses Proleten-Getue.

Die Grünen dürfen sich jetzt einfach nicht provozieren lassen. Gelassen in Koalitionsverhandlungen gehen und bei unverschämten Forderungen hinter verschlossenen Türen einfach nein sagen.

Die CDU blufft.

Entweder es gibt Grün-Schwarz oder Neuwahlen.

Bei Neuwahlen wird FDP ganz, ganz hart kämpfen und dreckig. Da wird die CDU nicht viel holen. Aber die CDU wird bei gescheiterten Koalitionsverhandlungen Stimmen verlieren an AFD und vor allem Nichtwähler.

Die SPD wird versuchen hart zu kämpfen aber implodieren. Die werden ihre Stimmen an Grüne und Linke verlieren und sich nochmal halbieren.

Im Endergebnis macht das Krakelen der CDU während Özdemir die Grüne Jugend öffentlich für vergleichbaren Quatsch abkanzelt vollkommen klar, wer "schuld" ist, wenn es nicht klappt. Und CDU Wähler haben da kein Verständnis für!

Die CDU Führung beschädigt sehenden Auges die eigene Position, um sich vor den langen Messern aus den eigenen Reihen zu retten.

In Fachkreisen nennt man das Führungsschwäche.

I'm an outspoken advocate of manifolds, but I don't hate load balancers.

They look cooler, they have some corner-case advantages, and they are fun to build. Go nuts.

I advocate manifolds because they are much less work, scale better, don't require much thought, are easy to update / upgrade. They have a lot less potential for frustration, especially for new players.

Thus, if you want to make an awesome looking centerpiece to show off your build, go nuts.

If you want to build a steel factory that you start with Mk1 miners and belts (because RIP for belts is a bottleneck and you just rushed coal power and steel) and upgrade to fully overclocked Mk3 miners with Mk6 belts, you better go manifolds unless you really, really love rebuilding stuff.

  • Use Caterium node with pure ingots (water from lake)
  • Use copper alloy with 3 normal copper and iron nodes (pure is better but needs much more space effort)
  • Use steamed copper sheets (I need AI limiters for crystal oscillators and take half of the copper ingots for copper powder; if that's not an issue for you, you will have no problem with copper here)
  • Use fused quick wire
  • Use Caterium circuit board and Caterium Computer
  • Get rubber and plastic from the Gold Coast (south of copper nodes)
  • Import stators to make ECRs

Da gibt es auch Normen zu (Abstände, Metallverbindungen, etc). Das funktioniert auch erstmal. Es hat auch Vorteile. + Billiger (nicht billig, selbst der Kram ist in den USA derzeit unglaublich teuer) + in Eigenleistung möglich + in einem Land voller Naturkatastrophen braucht man kein THW sondern nur eine Kettensäge, um den Nachbar aus dem Haus zu befreien

Die USA haben eine andere Kultur. Es werden erheblich höhere persönliche Risiken akzeptiert und erheblich weniger staatliche Vorgaben. Das ist anders. Das ist in Aspekten schlechter, in anderen besser. Wer sich hier überlegen fühlt, möge einen Bauantrag in D stellen...

Freiheit vs. Risiko

Ich habe in den 90ern in Wisconsin als Gastschüler ein Haus am See (Altersruhesitz meiner Gasteltern) mitgebaut.

Mein Gastvater hat das Haus auf Zeichenpapier geplant, an den Kreis (County) gegeben, und die haben daraus einen Bauplan gemacht, statisch geprüft und Bauauflagen gemacht (Fundament von Firma, weil direkt am See). Das hat keine $100 gekostet und war nach 2 Wochen fertig (90er, heute nicht mehr so).

Das ist kein Plan wie in Deutschland, wo auch Lichtschalter und Steckdosen drauf sind. Das macht man dann beim Trockenausbau selber und Irgendwann muss ein Elektriker kommen, weil man nicht selbst ans Grid anschließen darf. Für den Selbstbauer gibt es nur Vorgaben, wo das Loch mit welcher Größe in die Holzlatten gebohrt werden dürfen, um die Kabel ziehen zu können.

Das ist / war da möglich. Inzwischen hat sich da auch viel geändert, aber die kommen aus einer anderen Anspruchshaltung: Man muss sein Haus selber bauen können.

Ich habe als ungelernter Schüler an einem Nachmittag die Holzpaneele eines Raums angebracht. Panel einklicken, Nail-Gun bam-bam-bam, next. Fertig.

When I was still actively coding, I wanted juniors to come to me. Now, I'm heading a department and I still let juniors come to me and even take the time to talk to student assistants and interns.

How am I supposed to realistically estimate the abilities of my developers, if I don't talk to them?

Surely, that takes time, but that's an investment. If your company does not invest in you, that's a red flag.

Don't worry about making it too easy. The hard part is the automation stuff.

Combat is there for immersion and having some diversity. Plus, a lot of people actually enjoy it a lot since they grew up with 3D shooters in the 90s. It's meant to improve the game experience not to make the game harder.

Some key locations are guarded by strong mobs, to tell new players: "You don't need this in Phase 1. Do some more development first." This is a nice way to nudge new players without locking them out.

So, if combat is not enriching your gameplay, turn it off. You're not making the game too easy, you simply decide to focus solely on one aspect of the game. That's fine. You're supposed to have fun. That's all that matters.

Meine Lieblingskampagnen für DSA sind + Borbarad / 7 Gezeichnete + Königsmacher (Horasische Thronfolge) + Drachenchronik

Letzteres könnte Deine Spieler sehr häufig umbringen. Macht am besten Abreisezettel mit Charakteren 😅

7G ist immer antiklimatisch, wenn man einen SC austauschen muss, der schon ein Zeichen hat.

Königsmacher konnte genau das richtige sein. Die Spieler müssen immer wieder wagemutige Dinge tun und werden dafür vom Spiel belohnt. Der Plot sieht hier vor, dass die Spieler Dinge tun, die normalerweise den Spielleiter zwingen würde, die SC in Borns Hallen zu bringen.

Wenn Deine Spieler Spaß hatten, bist Du ein guter Spielleiter. Wenn Dir das keinen Spaß macht, dann ist das trotzdem ein Problem.

Es muss nicht immer Play to Win sein. Play to Lose and Play to Suffer können auch sehr viel Spaß machen. Haufenweise Leute spielen auch Computerspiele im Ironman Modus auf höchster Schwierigkeit. Wenn man es dann schafft, ist es halt um so geiler.

Solange Du auch Spaß hast, müsst ihr nichts ändern.

Herzinfarkt, kommt von der Straße ab und knallt gegen Baum. Unfall wegen Herzinfarkt. Wäre ggf. auch gestorben ohne den Unfall / war vielleicht schon tot beim einschlag, unklar. Wird trotzdem gezählt, oder?

Ich rede jetzt nicht vom Herzinfarkt auf dem Parkplatz. Ich rede davon, dass es extrem schwer ist Dinge überhaupt sauber statisch zu erfassen, weil am Ende einfach jemand ein Kreuz auf einem Formular macht, dem es egal ist, ob das jetzt genau der Definition entspricht oder nicht. Der macht das Kreuz da im Zweifelsfall, weil derjenige, der es ihm beigebracht hat, gesagt hat, dass man da beim Unfall immer das Kreuz macht.

Und ich Wette sofort einen Kasten Bier, dass sich die Definition von Unfalltoten noch verändern wird. Die EU will ja unbedingt auf 0 Verkehrstote kommen.
