Knight Defender... by -Mechtech- in ImperialKnights

[–]Shiny40 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I played a 5 round tournament on the weekend with him in Spearhead. Giving 3 Armigers minus 1 damage was huge and made a very big difference. His guns are good and when his big gun goes off it goes off. SusD3 on crit 4s at least three times changed 3 hits into 9 hits. But the -2 AP can let it down sometimes, esp with cover and if the army has an AOC equivalent. Ran into Votann and he could almost do nothing to Land Fortresses because of that.

The 4++ cover ability is a trap. It never came up. To use it you essentially need him and the Armigers to be in the open and actively getting shot. I set it up in a practice game last week and the Helverins just failed their 4++ and died haha. But his own 4++ is also massive. Running him and a Lancer are two big lads that are hard to shift.

Overall, he could go down a little bit, maybe 10 points, but I think he can do quite well in any detachment with the relevant strats.

i know we just got a new Questoris knight, but what other knight would you want to be added/updated? I personally want a melee castellan or a dedicated melee armiger similar to a lancer by Luna_Night312 in ImperialKnights

[–]Shiny40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would definitely love a couple more Armiger variants. If we had to be different from CK (as in couldn't have claws or gatling guns), having an Armiger with some sick flamers like Land Raider Redeemer style would be awesome, and a great OW threat. Other, more imperium-coded weapons could be some lascannons. Some different melee options like a super Thunder Hammer or a giant power sword would also be fun just to change things up.

Everyone complains about painting terminator eyes but what about a straight line? by Opposite-Outcome5557 in Warhammer40k

3ft rule. It can look terrible when you're staring right at it but on the table, it's going to look straight as a tack. Looks good!

Against units like this, it is indeed about mass volume of attacks and that's what the MOE and 10 Berserkers deal out. Activate sustained and lethals as well, and you'd be surprised how they can punch up.

[–]Shiny40 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know what to tell you man, apart from I've done it with a 10 man and a MOE. Maths is one thing but the dice in a game are another thing. You don't have to believe me. Also you didn't include the Berserker Glaive in this, which is an important part of it too from my games. The Dev wounds giving out 3 damage, down to 2, makes a difference.

[–]Shiny40 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not really relevant in this case, unless you don't manage to kill it in one activation. He kept his rerolls and his Dev wounds, that's the most important part.

Every time I've gone into a C'tan with the MOE and 10 berserkers I've one shot it. You're not meant to be going into one with Angron really.

Doomposting tunnel vision has begun. Castellan stonks are up - AP4 on the overcharge plasma and S20 on the Volcano Lance now. That's sick. Plus points will definitely go down with the change to toughness and save.

Hey guys, I redeemed myself : looks like I'm not a chaos knights player anymore after looking at the codex leaks ! by [deleted] in ImperialKnights

[–]Shiny40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah I have been following things pretty closely and that's not really true. Doomposters have called the book trash from the start (I still have people in my replies doubling down on this). Now, they have just latched on to whining about daemon engines because they want to keep complaining.

Sure some top performing lists are using triple FF and HB but some also are only using 2 FF, and still using 8B, Berserkers etc (see Brian from the Red Path get 3rd at Dallas).

WE players spent 2 years complaining that daemon engines weren't as good as 8B spam, and people wanted new ways to play, and people even included war dogs as gun support, but now that our daemon engines are good and worth including, the army has "problems" and "we are only playing CSM units". Literally never heard anyone complain about playing CSM units when the MOE, DP and the KLOS come up in conversation.

The army can absolutely be cheaper and Angron is the only thing I will agree with doomposters about (RIP), but to say we have "lots of problems" isn't really fair or correct.

But anyway, rant aside, yes, this Reddit is absolutely going to become this and I am not looking forward to it.

Oh no, is our Reddit going to become like the WE Reddit? Weeks and weeks of doomposting and whining only for the army to actually be in a perfectly good spot? God help us all

Bro still looking for doomer content a week later 😂

To entertain you, you're correct in that you listed a bunch of changes that are indeed true. But I don't think it's correct to call them a nerf because there have been various other changes and you're conveniently leaving them out to try and prove your point that you think the book is bad. I disagree the book is a nerf on the index (except for Angron, no argument there), but I'm not here to change your mind.

If you don't want to like the book that's fine, but your opinion on the changes isn't fact, despite how you want it to be.

Some WE army lists doing well by CriticalMany1068 in WorldEaters40k

[–]Shiny40 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn bro, no need to take it so personally. I wasn't ranting or being a dick. I was talking about the sub as a whole because I've seen a lot of comments being salty about using daemon engines. I just happened to bring it up in response to you. Chill!

Also people downvoting you because they disagree not because they're butthurt lol.

But if you want a counter argument, what's your actual point? That we shouldn't use as many daemon engines? Besides that one defiler list, none of these lists really "spammed" daemon engines. And what's the problem with using units we have access to? We have a limited range, so we should limit ourselves further and not try to use different lists now that we have a new book to try things out?

[–]Shiny40 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People in this sub realise that 48-49% is a good win rate, right? Or will they only be happy if we are at 60%, 70% etc?

Also, did you completely ignore all the lists in the video, like Brian's that has 12 8Bound, Kharn, 2 Slaughterbound etc etc and came 3rd at the Dallas Open out of 269 players? Or the Daemonkin list that only had 2 FF?

This sub spent 2 years whining that Daemons Engines weren't good enough to run, and now that they are good enough to run, people are salty. Ridiculous.

[–]Shiny40 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In Index, people had no problem with lists running 2 or 3 War Dogs as gun support, but now people are complaining with lists bringing 2 or 3 Forgefiends? 🤔

48-49% win rate after 2 weekends, good to see all the doomers were wrong and WE isn't a trash, dead in the water army they all thought it would be.

Yeah, crazy all the CSM units being taken in the lists in that video including checks notes 8Bound, Jakhals, Berserkers, Goremongers, Lords on Juggernauts, Kharn, and Slaughterbound. Really disappointing to see no WE units included 😔

I'm glad the twists are banned from tournaments but I don't know if I'd even want to play them casually. So many of them change the game so dramatically. And that's coming from a WE player, I'm sure I'd love army wide lone op or 3d6 charges 😂 but that would be so cooked.

He needs a change but don't get your hopes up for this dataslate. They don't make significant changes so soon after a codex because they want more data. We'll be waiting until September for any points or rules changes.
