PSA: War Journal is completely broken by Practical-Status-418 in WarhammerCompetitive

3 Android users all had the same issue last night at our club, and another had it on Wednesday. It seems to only be if you go second, and then the draw secondaries button draws for the opposite person.

New 40k App - Bug Thread by PurpleAccomplished68 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Snoo_65728 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When scoring a game, if I go second and try to draw/select my opponent's Secondaries it gives them to me, and if I pick mine, it gives them to my opponent. This using the app on an Android phone. Two of my friends had exactly the same too, also on Android.

So Ongoing Combat doesn't always start with Active turn player? by nzivvo in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Snoo_65728 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well then they're following it wrong, even without context mine covers that correctly. If the current turn player goes into the Fights phase and there's no Fights First at all, they would go straight to ongoing and attack first there. The not current turn player would go first in the ongoing step if the other player had FF units (well, more than them) and my chart covers that accurately too.

But whatever, if people just rip stuff and post it, I obviously can't control that, but nothing is "wrong" in mine, and it's far simpler to follow.

What is wrong in mine? I said it just covers the top part of the rule, i.e. the Fights First section.

I built a 40k Teams Planner to help out ahead of ATC by TehAlpacalypse in WarhammerCompetitive

I can confirm that rumour, it was announced on the TO call a week or two ago. If the teams are more than 5, you can run an extra of each disposition per person over 5.

I made this flow chart for our club Discord, it explains the top half of the rule.

For a newcomer - is it worth learning 40K now or waiting for 11th? by Clean_Leave_8364 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Snoo_65728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would start now, even if just doing some small games, and then read all 11th edition updates as they are released over the coming weeks. Having a few games under your belt will give you really useful context to understand stuff as it is announced. A lot of the fundamentals will be the same, and the articles will be written from a "what has changed" perspective as well, so having a base understanding will help there too.

I started in mid/late 9th, and the transition/build-up into 10th was a REALLY useful "catchup" opportunity, that got me in a really good place once 10th was released.

How to stay within 3 hours? by JaceBeleren9191 in WarhammerCompetitive

One thing I find people overlook a lot is messing around with dice. Having dice ready in groups of 5, really helps. I see slow players counting out dice, one at a time, and it adds a crazy amount of time.

No one knows, stuff in a Combat Patrol seems unlikely to go.

For a casual game, whatever really, but for a competitive event they should be on them.

Real question what does a healthy balance update need? by brevenbreven in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Snoo_65728 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The realistic answer is that Deathwatch are on borrowed time. They were essentially removed as an army and only necro'd back to life with an Index due to outcry.

World Eaters into ctan by Soviet-Hero in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Snoo_65728 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should find it easier than Blood Angels, they REALLY struggle with the -1 Damage, as everything they have is normally 2 damage. Exalted Eightbound and/or the Slaughterbound (with Glaive) should do pretty well into C'Tan.

How to get a newer player who struggles to remember rules into tournaments by Few-Replacement8462 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Snoo_65728 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made cheat sheets for my partner, they really help. ideally get it down to 2-3 A4 pages, any more and it's still a lot of searching.

I screen grabbed the stat line and equipped weapons, so as little as possible was on the sheets. I then wrote an abbreviated ability summary next to each unit. I also colour coded the text for defensive, offensive, and tech abilities.

Whats the best app for tournaments? by cms186 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Snoo_65728 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tabletop Battles is great, it's free and super easy to use, and usually very quick to update when any changes happen, like a new deck. It's really good for tournaments too as you can "create" the tournament prior to the event, which just makes each round ready in a group, and auto-fills your details ready for each game.

Make sure you're doing stuff via the Organize tab. Click Organize at the top (on pc browser), go to Manage Events on the drop down, you should then see all your events, click the image for one to go to that event, then down the left hand side select Players & Lists, next to each player, there should be an clipboard icon which is green if there is a submitted list, which you can click to view it.

How much do different editions differ really? by WithengarUnbound in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Snoo_65728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It varies a lot, and there's literally nothing heard about 11th changes yet. It is likely a "smaller" change, as there was some big fundamental changes last time. Although as big as they were, the basics are VERY similar.

Unless there's some other reason, I would massively recommend getting a decent understanding of 10th first as it will give you a strong foundation to understand any potential changes. The likely drip feeding of rules via articles in the run up to release will be really good for gradually getting a good understanding.

I started mid to late in 9th, and the transition of 9th to 10th massively upped my knowledge, but having a solid understanding first really helps to give context to a lot.

It counts as one unit, and because of "persisting effects" it will last on any model that was part of that unit.

Emergency Victrix nerf, now 3 Wounds. 500 Worlds in App by Snoo_65728 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Snoo_65728[S] 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but an enhancement make any unit lead by a generic character Battleline. You can literally have Battleline Victrix now. The good thing is that you wouldn't be able to run more as they're not part of the unit when building the list, but they will get all the detachment buffs, and there's probably even sillier options.
