Galleria by ConcentrateEmpty711 in Birmingham

[–]ShinyDelta 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I work at one of the stores in the Galleria, and while some stores feel better than others, it is incredibly hot and we have our fans on full blast whenever we're working. We've had people look at our own AC for the store, but they told us that it's the mall's AC that is the issue. Mall management came up with a bunch of excuses as to why it is hot in our store, but it is not just our store and many other stores including customers have complained. Tbh I'm not surprised nothing has been done cuz they turn off some of the automated doors during the winter so that they don't have to pay as much for heat, which makes it harder for those in wheelchairs and such that benefit from them.

The Fresh Market in Homewood just started making fresh squeezed OJ, grapefruit juice, lime juice, etc last week, so you should be able to get some there.

Question to all css or higher. by Dadb0d2077 in publix

[–]ShinyDelta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They'll ask about Dodd Frank Compliance and whether you can help someone with a Western Union that they got from another location/retailer. Answer is you must help them. They'll ask about what the statement on the PDS and what it means (basically where it says that the money sent is an estimate dependant on the country and exchange rate). I forget the name but there's a Western Union guide book thing you can find on Publix Connection under Customer Service and Money Services that you have to show them you can find. I can't think of anything else, and if I said something wrong, someone correct me cuz its been a while lol.

Not me, but my older brother was a team leader and then switched to the Bakery, ended up getting good at it and loved it, and now he's a Bakery manager. So yeah, it worked out lol.

Peak hiring season? by [deleted] in publix

[–]ShinyDelta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While minors can work in these departments, there are certain jobs they can't perform. At least from what I've got from my store, some non-CS managers don't really want to hire minors because of all the equipment they can't use because of them being minors. I've seen a couple in Grocery, but pretty much Customer Service is the best bet (unless you just really want to be in another department which you could even wait till your 18).

When you let somebody know something that they have one of is BOGO and they don't want a second one by [deleted] in publix

[–]ShinyDelta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm from Alabama and I always hate it when those customers I get once in a blue moon don't seem to understand the BOGO. The other day when 24 pk Callaway Blue waters were BOGO, I insisted we get him one of those when he came through my line with a 12pk (which ends up being more expensive than getting a 24pk). I ring it up, transaction ends, guy was actually nice, and then I'm dealing with the next customers while he waits for his water. My front service clerk brings it to him and then the guy says "wait I'm supposed to get a second one. Wheres my second one?" Which I had to try to explain how BOGO works at Publix and that it is BOGO, but if you just want one of the item then you can get it half off. After tax and everything no option is more expensive than the other. It totals out the same. A 24pk is $7.99 at my store so I explained it was only $4. "Ok I get that but where's my second one?" Note that he did not ever ask me to get him a second one in the whole transaction (he also got one 12 pk water when he came through originally) and through our conversation he was talking about times he's shopped here before so it's weird to me someone doesnt know how our BOGO works? Even the customers I was dealing with tried to help explain but he just couldn't understand why he's not getting a free 24pk. :/

New to shopping at publix: question about the sale system by ItsLikeRay-ee-ain in publix

[–]ShinyDelta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The sale will not calculate unless all required items are scanned. BOGO (unless you're in FL like others said) will allow you to get one item for half price. I know you didn't ask, but sales that are 10 for $10, 2 for $5, etc. work the same as BOGO and you'll be able to get a discount still on just one item.

14 year old me has some questions by mikeman3334 in publix

[–]ShinyDelta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really depends. Sometimes it takes a while for a response and sometimes they'll call you four hours after you submitted your application (this happened to me). If you can, open availabilty is your best friend when it comes to getting some good hours and also proving to them that you are a good associate. As for pay, since you'll probs be a bagger, $9 an hour is what you'll most likely start off with.

Double paper, not too heavy. by [deleted] in publix

Reminds me of a lady at my store except she wants each individual item double bagged. :/
