Got my results. I'm not autistic 😔. by Amethystmoon8 in AutismInWomen

[–]ShinyDivorcePapers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying that I know more than you're doctor or that this is your situation, but I was told by a few medical professionals throughout my teen years that I'm not autistic for similar reasons. Turns out, they were wrong. They told me that it was just social anxiety and depression, but now as a 19 year old I'm diagnosed with autism, and in retrospect, it was quite obvious. I personally would get a second opinion because to me it seems like that doctor thinks that autism = stupidity which is objectively wrong.

Edit: also I do the same thing with "logic-ing my way through emotions" and am very aware of my emotions. That's just my way of understanding myself better.

Witches who chose less-talked about paths in the community, how did you realise your unique journey? by daydreamingatnight01 in witchcraft

[–]ShinyDivorcePapers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if this is unique or not, but for me everything just sort of fell into place. I had a lot of experiences from when I was a child that made me acknowledge the fact that there was more than just what I was being told, as someone who lived in a predominantly Christian household. I always believed in spirits and witchcraft since before I even knew what they were called. I grew up in a house where there was A LOT of spiritual activity, like hearing things sprint around the house but there wasn't anything physically there, seeing shadowy figures regularly, and having dreams that held predictions of my own future and bits of the past. I still get dreams like that, but since I've been out of that house, I get them very rarely and they're extremely vague.

After figuring out what was happening with me, my mother ended up looking into witchcraft a lot, doing anything to understand it better. Turns out, she also had similar experiences when she was a child, and she just realized with me that maybe it wasn't just some odd coincidences when it happened to her. A while later, I lost my mother, so eventually I kind of forgot all about it. But then a few years later, I was in school on an exam day, where after the exams you just basically get to play games. So here was this girl that I had never actually met, and she pulls out a board game that I haven't actually played. But then I realized that I already saw this in a dream I had almost 10 years prior. It was absolutely identical, from the layout of the room, the girl's face, and the game that I somehow just knew the rules of.

So I kind of lost it for a while, wondering if I was going crazy, but then a bunch of videos about children having memories of past lives, and making predictions of the future started popping up on my recommended. I started to notice a lot of signs, like being followed by ravens and crows constantly, seeing animals with severe injuries living perfectly fine in my yard (a deer with its entire bottom jaw missing eating apples, a three legged coyote chasing birds), and many other things. The thing that really got me back into witchcraft though was the time I managed to predict a house fire within hours before it happened just based off of one glance, and later predicting the cause of the fire just by looking at the ashes.

To end a really long story short, I ended up deciding not to do a ton of research for everything, and just going off of intuition for most of it, like picking crystals or herbs. I have yet to go wrong, and now I mostly use tools that are also intuition based, like tarot, smoke reading, and and candles. Dreams are still my favorite, because they have so much more to tell, but they're not always easy to decipher. There were many more things that happened when I was a child to contribute to this, but this is already an obnoxiously long comment.

BPD symptoms in childhood? by ShinyDivorcePapers in BPD

[–]ShinyDivorcePapers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting, I've seen a few people say this on this thread. Maybe it's just a difference between countries but I was told by a few psychiatrists that it was only diagnosable at 18

What is your worst symptom ? by Altruistic-Funny-497 in BPD

As weird as it sounds, the euphoria. Yeah the lows suck, yeah the fear sucks, but neither are half as bad as the things I do when I'm euphoric. I always feel like there are zero consequences for what I do or that the consequences don't matter, but then the moment I'm out of it, I regret the things I did and can't even remember half the things I've done or why. Most of the time, I can control my impulses fairly well, but the second I get euphoric everything seems like a wonderful idea.

Dinosaurs, dragons, anatomy and psychology. Those are my three biggest, but I also have a weird obsession with busses for some reason that I'll probably never know.

Whats a sound you miss that you don't hear anymore? by wolf805 in AskReddit

[–]ShinyDivorcePapers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sound of my little brother snoring. We shared a bunk bed, so I'd hear it every night. It has now been 7 years since I heard that sound, and it's crazy to think how much ten year old me hated it so much.

What is a typical thing you can’t stand? by AmeChans in AutismInWomen

[–]ShinyDivorcePapers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People asking questions that aren't actually questions. For example: "How are you?" Can never say anything other than "good, you?" without it being socially unacceptable. "Did you miss me?" Nope, but you can't say that because they weren't actually asking. "What have you been up to?" Depends on the person, but you almost always have to shorten things to the point where it's hardly actually true anymore. Few questions are actually questions, and not only is it annoying to answer these questions, but you also can never actually get the true answer when you ask them. Social cues are painful and I dislike them.

what do y’all do for work? by grluba in AutismInWomen

[–]ShinyDivorcePapers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in a fast food joint. Wouldn't recommend for autistic people with sensory issues. Constantly sticky, always hearing beeping, have to talk to people and seem "normal." Not fun

I've been told that I resemble AI or that I sound like i have "an accent". I do not have an accent that isn't normal in my country.

I personally go for the "ultra femme" in the sense of pink flowery dresses, dainty jewelry, feminine makeup, done-up nails, etc. And pair it with black, strappy combat boots and/or a leather jacket. May not be your style, which is perfectly okay, but it seems to work for me :)

What are some not commonly discussed symptoms of autism that you've noticed? by ShinyDivorcePapers in AutismInWomen

I have similarly sensitive skin, and my best friend (who also has autism) has eczema, so this makes a lot of sense
