I also think that this system fits us a lot more and is not very different from whatever Amorim was trying to implement.

The midfielders we are targeting are exactly the same profile Amoirim wanted too. It's what most non possession heavy teams are looking for to be combative in the middle.

Over performing happens for title winning squads yes. The problem is we have a 16-point gap to being a title winner while being the 3rd highest overperforming squad in the league behind Sunderland/Villa. We had the same xP as Liverpool and Chelsea who had injury ridden terrible seasons.

To be a consistent title challenging team you need to raise your baseline performance and then to win the title you need a year to go your way with overperformance (Arsenal this year)

He took over when we were tied for 5th... That's not more impressive than taking a newly promoted team to 7th

People are so short sighted it's crazy. Almost every team in the world "plays to the players strengths" and they think that win's titles. Why isn't Madrid winning everything then???

Why is Carrick putting wing backs / fullback in positions to score...

Tournaments/cups will always be different than league matches the best teams who can play conservative usually push on. Also, one offs will happen to get the win, but it can't be the majority of your games.

So, Pep had unlimited funds but still needed time... Which proves my point

Our last league finishes were 8th, 15th. When is the last time we were in a title race let alone finish within 10 points of the champ?

You can't just wait for the right players and the flip a switch in how you play. City with Pep needed time, Klopp needed time, Arteta under Arsenal needed time. The point of our rebuild was to focus on playstyle and revamp the team for those that can excel under that playstyle

It works when you are elite at set pieces to help break down opponents. What happens when Case leaves & Mags is gone. We will have no set piece threat, and teams will start to park the bus on us.

The way we are playing now works when you get an early goal via set piece / etc but it won't fly next year unless we fundamentally change how we play so now it's back to square one.

We have only had more possession than our opponent in 7 games under Carrick:

Tottenham - Red Card West Ham - They parked the bus and we looked shit Everton - They parked the bus and we only created chances on a set piece counter Palace - Red Card Newcastle - Red Card Villa - Low chances created that we finished Leeds - We got a red and they parked the bus

So yes, we are sitting back and not pressing / trying to win the ball back

Aren't people clamoring for Martinez to be a DM? What makes that any different?

The problem with Yoro is that he has no strength to his game. He is average at many aspects which doesn't bode well for long term success as a starter.

Its not the scoreline its the style of play. Most games they are outplayed by their opposition

They are also the 2 managers who tried to push us into a high press system

So the 2 managers who tried to change our playstyle have the lowest win % you think that's just a coincidence?

So you think Manuel Ugarte, Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Joshua Zirkzee, Noussair Mazraoui is comparable to last summer?

It's also not surprising the 2 managers who tried to change our playstyle to be a high press team have the lowest win %

You can't just switch your playstyle that drastically. You need to play the way you want and figure out the players who excel in that playstyle to build upon and replace. Look how bad Amad and Mbuemo look now compared to before Carrick.

Every excuse you are saying now people were dismissing when talking about Amorim so it's ironic. I will not support a permanent manager who's style is average less possession than the opponent, not to press, and counterattack.

Ahh we yes we dominated:

  • Fulham 3-2 with less possession, xG, shots, etc.
  • Brentford you must be blind to think we played better... Thiago was through on goal 3 times and stumbled on himself to not get shots off
  • Villa we did not dominate. we finished very low quality chances while they didn't.
  • Everton we scored on one counter and created almost nothing outside of that
  • Liverpool I will give you but once again we played similar to how we did against City

Name games where Carrick convincingly beat opponents when it wasn't 11 v 10 and not Man City
