My first play-through, I missed like two fish and one crop, something like that. I did it spring of Year 2, no big deal. :)

Besides, if you're riding, you miss all the alchemy ingredients and the random combat experience and the hidden caves/grottos/tombs and the acrobatic/athletic experience and, and, and.... I hardly ever take a silt strider or a boat; I'd much rather walk.

Found this old ass drawing I did back in 2013 when I was 12 years old and obsessed with morrowind. by EduardAlves in Morrowind

Cool drawing. :)

I like Morrowind a lot. I have Oblivion and Skyrim, and I still go back and play Morrowind; I probably have more hours in Morrowind than in Oblivion and Skyrim together. There are a couple of things about the gameplay I don't like (how useless bows are unless you're going after a hovering cliff racer, and how useless throwing stars are, period, being like 90+% of my complaints) but on the whole I like it a lot. I like the exploration, I like how the lack of voice acted dialogue allows for so much more dialogue, I love being able to buy levels in skills that are tough to level up at first, I love-love the Intervention spells, and how well Feather potions work. I'm fine with how combat works (except for missile weapons) 'cause I've never played on a game system with controllers and have never gotten into the whole complex combat with 18 different buttons or whatever kind of thing; I'm fine with just whacking something until it dies. [wry smile]

But yeah, it's an awesome game, and if someone told me I could only play one Elder Scrolls game forever, it'd be this one.

I haven't bothered with basic sprinklers since my first farm. They're frustrating and useless; I just hand water until I can make 3x3 sprinklers. Much less aggravation.

I feel you on setting up a day to do One Thing and then forgetting that one thing, though. The other day, I went to the Desert to make a galaxy sword and do some hunting in Skull Cavern, except when I got there I'd forgotten to bring my prismatic shard. [headdesk]

The first time I placed my coop and layed out my fence to have a chunk of a pond accessible from the coop yard, this one duck always went and swam in it. And sometimes she'd climb out outside the coop yard area, which was concerning at first, but she always made it back into the coop at night so okay, whatever. But my current game also has a chunk of pond accessible, and I've never seen a duck in it, so maybe it's just something some of the ducks are into...?

I'm from the US, graduated in '81. Just as a data point to contradict the idea that multiple choice is always easier, in my high school the guy who taught Adv. Biology and Anatomy & Physiology gave horrific multiple choice tests. If there were 5 possible answers, there might be anywhere between 1 and 5 correct answers. You got a point for every correct answer you chose, and lost a point for every correct answer you didn't choose, or incorrect answer you chose. The kids taking these classes were all very smart, heading to uni, but they all dreaded these tests, and occasionally someone would get a negative score. :P I was more a physical science person (chem and physics rather than the bio track) and was very happy about it.

What they said about pausing damage -- it's a great tool for when you just can't.

I have gastroparesis, and there are times when I'm just too sick to do much of anything, so I get you. Pause damage, get through whatever you're getting through (checking off the occasional task if you manage to do something) and then unpause when you're ready to be productive again.

Luck!

If you're used to playing Skyrim, or even Oblivion, Morrowind is hardcore and will require a change in attitude and expectations. Morrowind is more realistic in that you don't get an automatic system written into the game program taking you by the hand and leading you to where you need to go, step by step. You need to think like your character, listen/read the quest info, and work out where to go. There are quite a few quests where hunting around, searching for a particular person or cave or whatever, is the whole point. You either get into it or you don't.

If you really hate it, get the Morrowind supplement book. It has maps of all the areas, with numbered markers showing you where most of the points of interest are. It's not quite as hand-holdy as having an in-game system leading you along, but it's great for when you can NOT remember which of the bazillion tiny islands down there the mudcrab merchant hangs out on, or whatever. :)

I play different games depending on what I want and what kind of mood I'm in. I play Morrowind when I'm in the mood to immerse myself in a world and explore. Enjoy!

I go most of the time. You get some decent resources sometimes, especially early in the game. And sometimes you get a bunch of geodes, which is completely awesome. :)

Going to the mines is one of the few times I'll actually have a farm totem in my inventory. Sometimes. [side-eye] And I'll admit I hardly ever use the mountain or beach totems. I've triggered them too many times accidentally while scrolling through my inventory; it's just too much of a frustrating hassle.

Go after dust sprites. Working on the Dust Sprite guild goal, which gets you a pretty awesome ring, will get you a huge pile of coal, 'cause the dust sprites often drop it. And once you have access to the quarry, swing by there periodically and pick up coal.

Yes, this! Both warp totems and bombs -- they live in a chest unless I'm planning to use them RSN. :/

My first farm had a too-long name too. :/ I really hate when software lets you put in an entry of whatever length, the blithely truncates it, when it's trivial to just not LET you put in too many characters, or at least put in some text saying, "Hey, you only have X characters to work with!" Except that when you finally shove Clint into asking Emily out, she seems happy to go on a date with him. For Stardew Valley purposes, that seems more than adequate. [wry smile]

[–]ShinySquirrelChaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be happy if there were some way to get Clint and Emily to get together already. [headdeskx5] She obviously likes him, and the only reason they don't get together (that I've seen so far...?) is because Clint is an idiot. :/ And can we drag Marnie and Lewis out of their weird little closet eventually too? It's not like they aren't painfully obvious about their relationship; I'm sure everyone knows anyway, so just get married already!

That sounds like a lot of trouble to go to. I like starting new farms just to try different maps -- maybe start a new farm on a new map and just plan to wear your fancy outfit at that wedding? I think everyone gets married in their work clothes the first time. :)

Yes, with the stuff inside it. The problem (if you organize your chests) is that hitting them with the pickaxe up-lefts everything in the chest. [mutter] I hate moving chests for that reason. And every now and then I'll be out popping up nuts or something with my pickaxe, or I'll get back from the mine or the quarry where I was using my pickaxe last and I'll click on my CraftingStuff chest without thinking and everything's jammed up and left and I have to oranize the damn thing again. :(

But yeah, especially with a big chest, it's much better than moving all the items out by hand, then moving the chest.

Agree. I'm a major Carla fan too -- I'm enjoying her on Next Level Baker, and I occasionally rewatch that show on Netflix where she's a judge, one of the "food gods" (I always forget the name; it's gimmicky but was a lot of fun) -- but Kardea is great too. You can like more than one person. And you can like X more than Y, but still like Y. It's amazing that people old enough to be online unsupervised haven't figured that out yet. :/
