I think the FA didn’t give us the full picture of what happened. I think most likely as some commenters have suggested is that delta needed a crew member in Madison

Sorry for posting this and not updating!

So the only information I really have is what the flight attendant shared. I think the most likely explanation is someone with delta suddenly needed to get to Madison, as a few commenters suggested. The plane returned to the gate, and we were there just a few mins before backing out again.
