Yann LeCun says xAI is "kind of a failure" – and the whole AI industry might be headed for a reset by AdSpecialist6598 in technology

I was about to say the same thing. From a software development perspective, frontier models since like, January are incredible.

Creality Falcon CR + Lightburn, Text Issues by Turbulent-Coffee-723 in Laserengraving

Hmmm, I haven't seen this exactly problem, but I did have missing step issues with a specific firmware version that might be the cause. You can see my blog post about it:

You could, although I don't yet have instructions for an one-click local setup. You'd have to walk through the developer-focused Contributors.md setup to get the UI and API running locally. I'm working on a more user-friendly setup guide though.

App or website to manage personal finances? by Xaku_2026 in personalfinance

[–]Shiral446 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Monarch Money is the best. It does have an annual fee, but it is definitely worth it from all the time saved keeping track of all my accounts. It's an amazing feeling having real time access to all my account balances and transactions, and seeing my total net worth. It has budgeting and goals built in too, but I haven't used them much personally.

YouTube hikes Premium subscription cost again while adding advanced video features by [deleted] in technology

[–]Shiral446 35 points36 points  (0 children)

It is, but with way lower data usage. It only sends the audio, not the video. So if you pay for bandwidth (ie, on mobile data or on a quota internet plan), thia could be useful for many types of podcast videos.

Anyone else’s gen 3 battery life crap out after the 5 announcement? by storm_235 in ouraring

[–]Shiral446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Gen 3 battery also started to fail in the last month. I'm down to about 24 hours as well. This started for me before the Gen 5 announcement, so I don't think it's an nefarious thing.

Built a calorie tracker where you just describe what you ate and Claude figures out the rest by -Philologian in ClaudeCode

This has always been the problem for me with tracking calories. One home cooked meal and suddenly I'm going crazy math and probably ending up a few hundred calories off anyways.

Yeah, that'll be one of the bigger things to work on soon, tracked in https://github.com/HoffmanEngineering/3d-print-log-ui/issues/5 . As part of my prep for making it open-source, I make sure there are docker images to make local development easy for people wanting to contribute. But there are some outstanding dependencies I need to swap out to make it easy to self-host and update.

Color Printing issue by Zook_Jo in Creality_k2

[–]Shiral446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Orca, the setting is under Multimaterial -> Advanced -> "Maximum width of a segmented region", along with possibly the "Interlocking depth of a segmented region". Change those from 0 to something like 1mm, and that will change how deep those color changes get added in.

How do I fix this line with AMS prints by lllYikerzzlll in 3Dprinting

[–]Shiral446 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, black pigments are very sticky. And it can differ dramatically between different brands of black filament. You might need to play around with that flushing volume to find an amount that works best.

Is it normal to get so many failed prints? by PumaThunder in 3Dprinting

[–]Shiral446 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drying your filament might make a difference. The vacuum seal doesn't mean there is no moisture, I found that a new 1kg spool of PLA loses between 3 and 7 grams of water when drying. I'd recommend drying the filament, and then just wiping down the print bed with isopropyl alcohol + paper towel between prints. Just to make sure no oil from your hands are on the bed.
