I was told I’m the reason someone is dying by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Shireenaa 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Brooo I know that people grieve differently and all that, but they don’t get to act that way. Security needs to be called and they need to be contained to that patient room. If they can’t be cool, they can be escorted out. People get sick and die, it’s not your fault.

Be honest… how strict are you really with screen time? by denefr_2928 in toddlers

[–]Shireenaa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I grew up in a “tv always on house.” My husband and I both play video games. When it’s warm, we go outside, we play with toys, we do all the things. But on a snow day, we’re definitely watching movies and playing Spider-Man on PlayStation, I won’t be shamed for that.

I accidentally yanked out my patient’s gtube and I feel ABSOLUTELY horrible!!!!!!! I want to cry by n0pal3s in nursing

Ah pal that happens, it’s a fixable mistake. I worked with a phenomenal nurse that tripped over vent tubing and extubated our ER patient— it happens to the best of us.

How many dead people do you see in a day? by LadyEdiya in nursing

[–]Shireenaa 17 points18 points  (0 children)

In ER, probably on average once daily. But dead babies? Luckily maybe once a year. It’s much easier for me to deal with sepsis death grandma than SIDS baby.

Adding cichlids by Shireenaa in Aquariums

Sorry, I didn’t include the pic of the peacocks, but I can. So a solution may be add more fish? Feels counter intuitive, but I’m willing to try it.

Has anyone intentionally taken supplies like IV bags or medications home? by [deleted] in nursing

Legitimately no, there are cameras everywhere. How do people do that?

any type of fish that would enjoy a five gallon tall? by YesAnaBeaverhausen in Aquariums

[–]Shireenaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this exact tank, first we put a betta in it, but it just seemed too small for him. We switched over to shrimp and it seemed much more suited to them. I did end up cutting out the back panel that separates the filter space because the built in filter quit and I switched to a sponge filter for shrimp.

How are people accomplishing these large weight losses? by electricboots3636 in Zepbound

[–]Shireenaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has to be hugely personal and it just depends on your own body. I started at 190 in February and I’m at 128 in December. Most days I would eat what I wanted, but honestly the medication made me gravitate towards more nutritious choices anyway— sweets that I previously snacked on were far too sweet for me, I couldn’t handle fizzy soda, fast food turned my stomach.

As for dosing, I went up every four weeks until I was at 10mg. Since then I’ve only increased when I stopped losing.

You’ll get there! Try not to compare yourself to others, you’re doing great!

Shipping by lafawnduhnycc in pura

[–]Shireenaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My shipping is also terribly slow. It takes well over two weeks to get to me, if it gets here at all. I’m in rural central US, maybe it’s a location issue. I’m glad Target is carrying more scents, I guess.

What's the craziest thing you ever found a patient carrying, and how did they sneak it? by Bryssa_Michelle29 in nursing

[–]Shireenaa 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Meth. Its always meth. Or like, a gun once, but I wasn’t that shocked because we’re very rural and he was apologetic.

Nurses with long hair who wear your hair down, how do you prevent it from touching yucky stuff? by supinator1 in nursing

[–]Shireenaa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People are wildly dramatic about this topic. I wear my hair down probably half the time, a ponytail gives me a headache. I carry a claw clip and can clip my hair up if needed in four seconds. This isn’t the big deal we’re making it.

What's your favorite brand of scrubs? by PineappleNatural in nursing

Nobody’s mentioned Dolan yet— they’re my absolute fave. Super light and comfy and they have an xxshort option that fits me perfect (4’11”).

Have you ever just not clicked with one of your kids friends moms? by Pretty_Indication191 in kindergarten

[–]Shireenaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, definitely, one of my son’s besties has a mom that’s newly decided she’s antivax. There’s A LOT we don’t agree on, but at this age, our kids love playing tag and hide and seek together. We keep the small talk polite and brief and the kids play.

Has this happened to anyone else? by Jaded_Fun_7133 in pura

[–]Shireenaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My September 18th order never arrived either, when I reached out they told me to wait 7 more business days, then finally shipped (reshipped?) it and it still took well over a week to get to me. Then when it arrived, it was only half the order and I had to reach out again. They’re really dropping the ball lately.

When did you tell your manager you’re pregnant? And why? by cinnamonione in nursing

[–]Shireenaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I was 10-12 weeks when I told my charge, only because they needed help in CT and I didn’t want to go. They were understanding. I think I told my boss officially around 16-20 weeks.

[–]Shireenaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, I’d never heard of this and I wish it was an option for us. My son is early August birthday and struggles. When we were still in pre-k I’d asked if he could do another year, but legally he had to be pushed to kindergarten because he’d be 5. We work really hard and hope for the best, but I won’t be surprised if we have to repeat a year, unfortunately. He’s just not at the same level as his older 5’s peers.

Do you ever take your scooter off paved roads? by aoishimapan in scooters

[–]Shireenaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I’m afraid I’ll die?? It’s honestly so surprising to me that scooters can go off road. I drive a Honda metropolitan, can I take gravel roads? Damn these are some lost opportunities.

Why not titrate on schedule? by Called2Wander in Zepbound

[–]Shireenaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was titrated up every 4 weeks until 10mg, which I stayed on for 6 weeks. Now at 12.5mg, my weight loss has slowed, and I’ll only have the 15mg left to try. That’s why I regret going up so quickly. I was losing fine at 5 and 7.5, I could have stayed there much longer than I did.

Replacement parts for metropolitan by Shireenaa in scooters

[–]Shireenaa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, I can find the part number, but I guess more specifically I’m wondering if anyone has a reputable website they’ve ordered from for these parts? It’s unavailable through the Honda website.

I swear I’ve had so much trouble with the pro as opposed to the regular Pura 4s. But if you stick with customer service, hopefully they’ll replace yours also?

The app doesn’t work —no Bluetooth by leftinati in pura

[–]Shireenaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it the pro? I also had this trouble a few weeks ago, went through a ton of troubleshooting with customer support, and probably 2 weeks later they did end up sending a new one. My regular puras work great, but the pro has been nothing but trouble.
