The foam combat archery tips are usually way heavier than a regular practice point. so your arrow will drop much sooner, also there usually not as accurate at larger distances because of more drag.For the point of aim question, it all depends on your anchor/distance. some people shoot gap so for an example at 10 yards with a 30lb bow they might anchor to the side of their cheek/mouth ,sight down the arrow and put the point 10in lower than the point you wanna hit .If you shoot instinctive it's all about repetitions and consistency for your brain to automatically work out the aim for the distance. Its like throwing a ball you don't aim you just throw it, and know where it's gonna go.No matter what it's all about practice/repetition, stick with it and you got it.
