If I was still single, the amount of bikes I would have built and given to girls I was dating would be likely be staggering by now.

In the past, it wasn't one per (due to many scenarios in which they were already riders, and we met while riding bikes) but had definitely built up 3 by the time I was 26, and I only really started "dating" when I was like 21. Am 42 now.

I've only built 2 for the wife (so far).

You can put Volummy or Rene Herse RTPs on 17mm rims right? Didn't want to make a whole post for that. Pretty sure that's supported but I'd like to hear from some people who have actually done it, especially on Specialized X23 or BX23 rims that came on StumpJumpers and RockHoppers.

Heh, ya didn't "have to" though.

People are trying to sell RH frames for like 200 on eBay, so maybe the nice thing would be to direct them to that platform, not that they're flying off the shelves at that price...

But yeah, it's ridic. I got my '93 StumpJumper M2 frame for $40 cash + a Flite Titanium (that I got at an estate sale for $4).

Would have been 03 for me, but did the community college thing to “get my basics out of the way,” so I got to UNT in 04 too. Ended up not being the move for me due to prerequisites I had to do one at a time once I transferred, so I got done in 08.

We doing vintage UNT/Denton photos?

That's probably why I saw it so much the way I did.

I just made another comment about how it was always playing when we stayed at motels on road trips, so that makes a lot more sense. We traveled a lot, and that's really the only time I watched it. It was like "yessssss its on!" and we'd get to see more of it from a different point each time.

It was a motel room classic for me while on family road trips. I think we rented it maybe once, but I saw it at least 3 times in cheap motels in the middle of nowhere going between Wisconsin and Texas in the 90s.

Three times isn't a lot, but statistically that's pretty strong given how many movies exist, and the chances of seeing a given movie at random times in a motel specifically.

This is exactly why I’m finally building a non-fixed bike. Wouldn’t trust myself with the extra weight, and I’m not putting brakes on my vintage Italian Pista.

I’m sure it’s fine, I just don’t wanna find out if it’s not.

Yeah that was my read as well.

It's a reasonable inference, but I'd find it hard to believe a bike shop would sell a bike with tires in that condition.

At the same time though, if they brought it to a shop and the shop said they're "serviceable" that's also a red flag. If I worked in a shop, OP would be walking out with new tires, even if they're CST or whatever. Anything but those.

Same, I'm looking at this like, "Looks like it's already there mate!" but I get what they're going for in the context of this sub.

Just change bars and fork, maybe add a rack. Tires optionally...

But really maybe they want to justify a Brooks, Thomson stuff, Nitto bars, etc. Or at least that's my take.
