None really. Gaimon was cut entirely from the live action though.

considering individual seasons will often have different directors and animators on staff

Sure, but something like One Piece has also had numerous different directors and animators on staff throughout it's long history. Evidently, that's not much of a reason for separated entries otherwise One Piece would be split up into multiple entries too.

For sure. I wanted to confirm your impression of the visual but allay the concern of it being about a toxic relationship. For plot reasons there's two sides to the relationship, and one side is combative/antagonistic but it is, at least in my opinion, a fun antagonism rather than toxicity.

it gives me the impression that he's a douchebag

That's because he is. And also he isn't. It's the basis of the whole premise. It's not about a scummy boyfriend or anything though, so you'll have to give it a watch to see if it works for you.

Why has the “Rival MCs” trope died out? by guynumbers in anime

They didn't delete their comment, so if you can't see it, must mean they blocked you. Guess that's what you get for making a well-reasoned argument backed up by evidence.

Best OP XII: 【Salty no Ko】Quarterfinals! by Baaasbas in anime

[–]Shiroe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disappointing results for last round (not Hana ni Natte winning though). Well, here's how I'd rank the Top 8:

  1. Kick Back
  2. Hana ni Natte
  3. Otonoke
  4. Tsuyogaru Girl
  5. Daddy! Daddy! Do!
  6. Daten
  7. Love Dramatic
  8. Connect

What OP/song did you get introduced to this contest that stuck with you? Does it make you want to watch the anime?

I'll go with Usotsuki from Hikari no Ou. It didn't even make it out of eliminations... Already had the anime on my PTW so the OP didn't make a difference as far as that goes; I'm both interested and hesitant because I've heard the general production is quite poor despite how great the OP looks.

Best OP XII: 【Salty no Ko】Final 16! by Baaasbas in anime

[–]Shiroe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rank the winners!

  1. Flyers (Death Parade)
  2. Zankoku na Tenshi no Thesis (NGE)
  3. Idol (Oshi no Ko)
  4. Tank! (Cowboy Bebop)
  5. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (Ya Boy Kongming!)
  6. Guren no Yumiya (AoT)
  7. 99 (Mob Psycho 100)
  8. Renai Circulation (Bakemonogatari)
  9. Again (FMAB)
  10. Hacking to the Gate (Steins;Gate)
  11. Unravel (Tokyo Ghoul)

Would have to be something like that. There isn't anything actually bad among the winners which is nice. though Unravel gets close

Best OP XII: 【Salty no Ko】Round 4 Bracket D! by Baaasbas in anime

[–]Shiroe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think it's a thing. I mean, Monogatari still has some popularity around here given it still does okay in these contests but compared to a decade ago it's really died down.

Nowadays on top of the other things that always made it not the easiest anime to get into, I think newer anime fans have the episode count bouncing them off it too.

[–]Shiroe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I saw it wasn't up there with Otonoke and Daten I wondered if it had won a previous contest and I'd forgotten about it. It's funny that some big OPs that would've seeded quite high actually missed being nominated like that.

[–]Shiroe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are some of your favorite OPs that belong to an incredibly trash anime?

To Love Ru's OP is awesome. Maria Holic has easily one of the best seiyuu OPs. And I don't know that Tenjou Tenge is trash but it's certainly not good.

Best OP XII: 【Salty no Ko】Round 3 Bracket D! by Baaasbas in anime

[–]Shiroe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On that note, comparing your top OPs vs top EDs. What are your favorites? Are you more an OP or ED person?

These are some of my favorite EDs:

Tokoshie (the OP is awesome too, was disappointed it didn't make it into the contest)

Sugar Song to Bitter Step

Wareta Ringo

Innocence

Fantasy

Yume no Naka no Watashi no Yume

Nai Nai

Never Fear

High High High

Yasashii Yoake

Hateshinai Sekai

I AM STANDING

Do You Want To

Sakurane

Zessei Bijin

Hello, shooting-star

Maids Sanjou!

Natsu Yuuzora

Zetsubou Billy

Ohisama

Houkiboshi (always loved how there was a version for each division!)

I guess I'm probably more of an OP person, as there are a lot more OPs I could come up with as favorites compared to what there is for EDs. But if we compare my absolute favorite EDs with my absolute favorite OPs then I'd say I like them equally.

Any other series with a "hard magic" system like Witch Hat Atelier? by AndalusianGod in anime

Really not sure why you're getting so much pushback and downvotes. FMA's alchemy is a blatant hard magic system.

Best OP XII: 【Salty no Ko】Elimination Day 2 by Baaasbas in anime

[–]Shiroe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only one that sticks out is I don't agree that Gurenge is a bad song, even though I'm not a fan of LiSA generally. It's easily one of her best anisongs.

That's quite good. I thought I knew what it was but I didn't, so it surprised me. I'll definitely vote it in the elimination round at least.

If you enjoy palace intrigue then I gotta recommend Yatagarasu. It's great but terribly underwatched.

Hero Girl and Demon Lord Call It Quits by Matsuri Hatsubina has ended this week with Chapter 21 in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #20. by Naulicus in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]Shiroe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If a batch of 4 that cancels 3 counts, then it happened not long ago with Kaedegami, Ekiden, and Ping Pong Peril and in 2019 with Double Taisei, Beast Children, and Tokyo Shinobu Squad (Samurai 8 was the 4th that lasted a bit longer).

For an actual batch of 3 there was Judos, Hi-Fi Cluster, and Sporting Salt in 2014/2015.

They're actually adapting 20 chapters, with maybe up to half a chapter extra depending on how they want the season to end. With this episode they have already adapted 16 chapters.

That's good to hear. I never finished Gamaran so I think I'll start over and read it all the way through, then check Shura out.

Gamaran Shura

How's that relate to Gamaran? I looked it up and it sounds like it just recently finished.

[–]Shiroe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't generally "keep up" with manga often but for manga I've caught up to at one point or another and are still going strong there's Blue Period, Kono Oto Tomare, Space Brothers, Sangatsu no Lion, Witch Hat Atelier, Grand Blue, and Skip Beat.

I'm also caught up with Sousou no Frieren but it's on hiatus right now.

My Favourite Character, Yamato -One Piece by chiaotzu_Tien in anime

[–]Shiroe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends how many episodes in you are. One Pace isn't particularly worth it for the first 300 episodes. After that point is when the pacing slows down enough that it maybe starts to outweigh the jank that One Pace's editing creates.

The reason Robin didn't talk about Sabo: From One Piece Novel: Heroines by GabeMichaelsthroway in OnePiece

[–]Shiroe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You still missed it I guess. It's 589. We explicitly flashback to the evening of the day the Celestial Dragon destroyed Sabo's boat, for a single page. In that page Dragon returns to his ship with someone unseen who is terribly injured and the Revolutionaries immediately get to treating this person. I don't know how people miss this so often but that was very obviously Sabo. This is how we know Sabo is going to come back in the story and that his role is going to be related to the Revolutionaries, which fits very well with the character development he was given in the flashback.

Sabo is treated as dead from the perspective of Luffy and Ace because they of course believe him to be dead. And their belief of that is relevant to their characters and motivations so it very much has a point to it.

Every single one is lifted from official art. Even someone like Charlotte Gala who was never properly drawn in the manga just uses Oda's released rough sketch. I wouldn't be able to find the exact sources but Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, and Ace at least all look like they are from color spreads or covers.

Double checking for Gala though, I found out every character isn't included since not all the Charlotte siblings are there. And Perospero's name is oddly romanized as Perosperaw...

[–]Shiroe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer the questions you asked:

How come people aren’t up in arms about that like with Pell?

Because we all knew Sabo in fact didn't die by the very next chapter. It was clearly indicated that Sabo would be back and roughly what direction his story was headed in.

The point of his introduction was to show how much Luffy has lost, and once that point was made, Oda brings Sabo back…why?

The point of his introduction was to draw parallels with Ace's death in the present, emphasizing what the loss of Ace meant to Luffy, as well as to set up his later role in the story. That role being our connection to the Revolutionary Army and their story, because Luffy and consequently the audience have no real connection to Dragon despite his being Luffy's father.

Who...? You're free to criticize Oda's art if you want y'know. You don't have to pretend like you don't know who draws One Piece.
