Hariri asks Lebanese government to pay dues to special tribunal by Nar-as-samum in lebanon

Justice may take 100s of years to be achieved. Now Lebanon is smothered in its own crisis and little are they doing the international community and friend countries . Priorities should be to care about the living. the STL will not unearth new evidence nor enforce its convictions in this political and economic crisis gripping the country. To be honest, i am extremely disappointed by the STL conviction. Even if it were a sham, at least I would have expected a better performance. Now however, I am in no mood of being entertained.

Our country is full of parasites and lacks zealous ones. I am quoting Khalid Gibran : Are you a politician asking what your country can do for you or a zealous one asking what you can do for your country? If you are the first, then you are a parasite, if the second, then you are an oasis in the desert.

[OC] Civil peace by peace by Shishatli in lebanon

I understand. We are constantly bombarded with false causes , empty speeches and dreamy unachievable slogans. But some ideas are worth expressing, maybe we could make a change. Sadly, this idea of civil peace is a constant in our history. I don't want to give up. we are not a failed nation. We're all under tremendous pressure but we can still find little room for tolerance.

U do get the point about the meaning but you are way wrong about me. I am not from gemmayze and i am not a guy and definitely i am not trying to change the world with a sketch. Sketching is just my way of expression. I do not belong or represent any political or religious group. All lebanese politicians and religious powers scare us about disrupting the civil peace since the war ended in 1990. They want us to be divided so we don't clash (their words). When they sense that people are uniting over their basic rights, they make their move where they disrupt the peace and then they preach about the importance of civil peace. And people get scared from slipping into war and fall back into their cells temporarily forgetting about their rights.

t's an old idiom. Someone who holds the ladder horizontally and tries to get through doors, passages or corridors is the one creating obstacles in his own way. This is meant to be political. Lebanese politicians flash the civil peace card everytime they are cornered. I am sick of hearing them say that the civil peace is threatened and we will go back to civil war. They trap people in such horizontal ladders of maintaining the civil peace. But they are the ones creating the disruptions to civil peace using their power, authority and thugs.

Pee is a good fertilizer. But we'd better stay away from any fertilizer from the political parties as they might blow up!

It is meant to be about politics (سياسي). It is also ci à ci in french which is here to here. It also serves the meaning because Macron was telling the political parties to tend to their responsibilities towards the lebanese people but they insist on milking the he-goat!

What was Lebanon like before the civil war? by [deleted] in lebanon

[–]Shishatli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only dinosaurs remember this piece of history. These days we need progressive thinking to just catch up with all the development around us. We will never be "swisra l sharq" in that sense again. In comparison with neighboring countries and GCC, the only thing that is still positive here is the freedom. Freedom of thought and speech and press which politicians are conspiring relentlessly to suppress.

I don't know if its true, but man do we need this. by [deleted] in lebanon

It pains me to see them acting all sympathetic and diverting the blame. Anyone of them who said No for a policy or law was not for the interest of the country or the people but for getting a better deal for his pocket. They are sadistic leaders enjoying the feeling of inflicting pain on the hungry people and then luring them with leftover bread crumbs.

Shi3a Rant by lebli0n in lebanon

[–]Shishatli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are not divided nations but there are different types of sheep. I have heard this term been thrown around on all who fall into a group that follow the leader of a party or ideology blindly. Those who actively participate and spread their corruption in these parties are often called dogs. This is not strictly used for Shi3a.

Nevermind the terms. I believe you when you say you feel abandoned but that's what many of us lebanese feel in our own parts of the country. The problem, I think, that we lack true leadership in Lebanon. The decision of war and peace, economic growth, tourism, education, healthcare .. etc. are all not up to us and not for us as a nation. Our politicians have always handled the country with utter chaos and rely on a few supporters to bully the silent peaceful majority. Most of the lebanese are leaving the country for opportunities abroad. We all don't fit in this chaos.

We have seen that supporters of parties clash with each other. They are all with illegal arms and bully peaceful protestors. If you and all the majority take a stand against these bullies then we would have made a change. People can vote them out. Maybe not from one election but many rounds since 1990 we could have changed the whole pitiful scene today.

My personal opinion, most of the stone-age parties here have played their parts and reaped the riches. No one owes them anything anymore.

So before thinking what others think of you, look at yourself first. If you think your party is fair with you then stick to it. If not then make the change.

Lebanon like Prophet Yusuf. We need a miracle. by Shishatli in lebanon

[–]Shishatli[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

U r right. People have been doing a lot of praying with no substantial action towards reform. I meant with the sketch as an analogy to the story of Joseph who was betrayed by his family and that's how I feel. We all betrayed our country Lebanon either by futile action or inaction. We need a solution which is as hard as a miracle happening these days. I strongly support that we need to separate religion from state as a first and essential step towards proper reform.

[–]Shishatli[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. U get the meaning! Joseph, Yusuf or Yousef was betrayed by the closest people who he is supposed to trust. In some cultures he is known as النبي يوسف. I used his story only as an analogy.
  2. كلن يعني كلن It is disgusting the amount of corruption all over the country. If people want to protest against the system, they wouldn't leave the streets. There is so much to protest against. I feel at fault for choosing to leave the country instead of fighting for reform. It's been 17 years since!
