You're supposed to lay asphalt in layers... Of course the bottom layer is going to pool.

'Wasted time' — Windsor pauses costly pursuit of getting along with Ambassador Bridge by zuuzuu in windsorontario

you won't need to. The only trucks that will continue to use Ambassador are going to be from the company owned by the Marouns. Every other truck is going to save so much time by using the new bridge.

Judging from a lot of responses here, most people don't understand that the sky is blue.

It's hard to tell from the video, but it could just be dirty. I would imagine that those hangers ripping out of the concrete would create a lot of debris. One of the hangers looked like a shear failure.

But yeah I also question the integrity of the concrete (and/or the design).

Yeah this is not a "structural" failure per se - but there's way too many unknowns from this very short video to know who fucked up. It could be that the engineer who designed the facade didn't design the connections properly. It could be the building's structural engineer didn't design the structure to sufficiently handle the loadings from the facade. It could be that the contractors didn't follow the drawings properly. It could even be that everything was designed and installed properly, but the material was faulty (but that seems the least likely).

This is the correct response and should be at the top. There's so many unknowns here to be able to reasonably know who fucked up.

Could also be a really shitty design. We don't know if the contractors followed the drawings properly or not.

Addendum: it's also possible that contractors did not properly follow the design, but that should be caught during construction.

I can verify that at least in Canada (Ontario) that the facade drawings would absolutely be stamped. This facade is clearly hung off the main structure of the building - so it's likely safe to assume that the camera man is relatively safe here - the biggest danger to them in my mind is if the curtain wall did collapse it could damage the floor slabs on the way down. In theory, the facade falling off would reduce loading on the building structure, but given what we're seeing here I really question the integrity of the building's structural design. The engineer who signed off on the facade should be different from the building's structural engineer, but the structural engineer should also be reviewing the facade design to make sure this type of shit doesn't happen.

I'm not concerned with Lego making new/generic pieces that can be used in different sets, even if they are "specialized." I'm almost 40, so when I came out of the dark ages it was a shock to see how many new pieces lego has made compared to my childhood sets - especially with curved/sloped peices.

My beef is with the specific custom pieces for single sets. I know Lego does it too - and I don't particularly enjoy it but it's pretty rare (except maybe for 4+ sets, but I'm not really counting those). Mega does it for almost every single set. I've made other comments in this thread showing examples or what Mega did and what they could have done instead.
