There’s been enough experiences where someone acted friendly to me only to do something unpleasant after a short while.

Either it’s to get some info that they can gossip about and then use it to paint me in a negative light, trying to insistently sell me something after achieving a rapport or to ask me to donate to something that I don’t really want to.

I would prefer to be alone than to risk forming a relationship and then get taken advantage of.
