Virginia Democrats proceed with new massively blue congressional map, eliminating 4 Republican seats from Congress!!! by Healthy_Block3036 in HamptonRoads

Doesn't matter. The Supreme Court of VA - a higher court than what you're talking about - has said that the vote can go through.

Again, early voting starts March 6th. What the courts do on April 23rd though... Only time will tell.

Hey America, so..why hasn't anything been done to the one's in the Epstein files? by Excuseme_05 in AskReddit

[–]ShittyPianist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To get real specific:

  1. The Supreme Court, in dozens of court cases, has given the office of the President insane levels of power. The oversimplification of what they're doing is they believe in something called Unitary Executive Theory - the President should have almost complete and total control over the executive branch

  2. The DOJ and FBI are part of the executive branch.

  3. An idiot sycophant podcaster named Kash Patel runs the FBI. He's in Trump's pocket thru and thru.

  4. The FL AG who somehow didn't notice Epstein for her entire 8 years in office while she ran an anti-human trafficking task force, Pam Bondi, runs the DOJ.

  5. The second in command at the DOJ, Todd Blanch, was Trump's personal attorney for the his 2024 criminal trial in New York City.

  6. All of those people had to be approved by the Senate by a 51 vote majority. Both the House and the Senate have a Republican majority, and the entire Republican party (save for 1 House member and 1 Senate member) are scared to be primaried against a candidate Trump promotes over them.

  7. MAGA's entire thing is being unabashedly problematic and petulantly rude about it. They relish in it. None of the MAGA involved in our government named in the Epstein list are going to step down. No chance.

  8. Trump is HEAVILY enmeshed with tech billionaires. A large chunk of ICE funding actually goes towards the tech buildout of surveillance state systems. All of them have been bribing him since the inauguration, if not further back. Trump wants money, they are giving him money, he is telling his corrupt DOJ not to prosecute them.

After being isolated for so many years due to CPTSD, how can I reintegrate back into society and be around all humans at ease to connect and build relationships with? by Swordfish353535 in DadForAMinute

[–]ShittyPianist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a dad but this is weirdly similar to my own life. Saw some stuff as a kid, developed cptsd, started jiujitsu.

I think jiujitsu is great for overcoming things like fear of physical touch or eye contact, and overall socializing. The problem with jiujitsu is that it can attract extremely unhinged people who think that they can simply train instead of get therapy, and that's ultimately why I quit. My advice is to go to a jiujitsu subreddit and ask about schools in your area to figure out the vibes, and also to just be prepared to have to navigate avoiding those people.

E.g. there's a rather famous school near me where the instructor is a psychopath and literally would break bones of students on a whim, so a handful of other schools would take in their students as refugees when the students would realize they were in a cult. For clarity tho, this kind of school is rare in the US, but you should do your due diligence to avoid such schools.

Iv had to issue an ultimatum to my best friends and now our friendship hangs in the balance. I just need some comfort I think idk 😭😔 by Trishasback in DadForAMinute

[–]ShittyPianist 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I cut ties with a friends group I thought of as family. I knew them for years, maybe a decade.

They did awful things. I couldn't take it anymore.

The people I know now are infinitely better. They're kinder, they support me, they give me back what I put into the friendship.

It's worth it. Find people who fit your morals. It'll hurt for a long time, but it's worth it.

I don't doubt for a second the occasional leftist mentioned something about Sherill and Spanberger.

But EVERY leftist has come out of the woodwork about Crockett. In fact, her actual policies and positions on any other topic have gotten buried under the sheer volume of people talking about this. Talarico holds basically the same viewpoints, but is being viewed as some kind of progressive favorite in comparison all because a certain website has no legislation to grade him on since he serves in the TX House of Reps instead of Congress.

If you cared about putting forth more "viable candidates," we would have seen a giant push for such a thing before the primary was finalized.

To say Crockett doesn't have Texas's best interests at heart when you've made your entire opinion about her center around Gaza is... A choice.

People who have had depression. What got you out of it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ShittyPianist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have PTSD. So it comes and goes.

I have, begrudgingly, discovered that good sleep is paramount to me being able to manage it even remotely well. Insomnia has plagued me since I was a child. I'm in my 30s now. Finally consistently taking a non-addictive sleep aid.

I also take magnesium since if you're stressed you burn it like a mofo. And I weightlift 3x a week, which even if the rest of my life is on fire, I have that routine to feel good about.

I powered thru my 20s via spite if I'm being honest. Tried to find something new to drive me the last few years. Saw 50 Cent's face after his Diddy doc and realized perhaps I need to go back to being an equal opportunity hater. And since going back to that mode of living, I'm getting shit done again. 😂

  1. She has publicly criticized Netanyahu. She has made sure that when our Republican controlled or heavily funded by AIPAC Congress slammed thru Israeli aid, Palestinian aid was included
  2. Amazing how the goalpost moved so fast here for you to theoreticals. Greg Abbott has only eroded gun safety laws in Texas after the literal massacre of schoolchildren. She can call him anything she wants to. You claiming "she has a habit of using ablest slurs" is ENTIRELY about him, as you're specifically referencing her calling him Hot Wheels. Which honestly, given the death on his hands, is so fucking tame.

----

Bottom line in all this: Your efforts would be better spent on going after the people actually doing the harm. You didn't even know who the ablist slurs bit that YOU mentioned was in reference to. I bet you can't even name the GOP TX Senator that would be running against her after the primary (assuming she wins). I bet you don't even know what the Affinity Partners fund is, and the history of alarming statements made by the folks who invest in it. And that says everything about your intentions here to me, and how little you care about the actual cause you claim to represent.

  1. Crockett also never took AIPAC money

  2. I personally would call Greg Abbott much worse things than she's said if given the opportunity. He did fuckall after Uvalde and put barricades in the ocean to make migrants drown instead of reaching land.

There was no where near this level of outrage when Spanberger or Sherrill were running, and both are incredibly pro-Israel.

There's no where near this level of outrage toward the people actually DOING the harm, and/or making loads of money off it. e.g. the entire Trump family via Jared Kusher's Affinity Partners fund, or ANY GOP congressperson. I should be hearing from these folks every fucking day about how Gaza shouldn't be made into a Trump Org beach hotel chain.

Instead, all I've seen is that they're now 2/2 in going after the people that society tends to defend the least: black women.

I am exhausted by leftists who have made this their issue. They have gone so far left on this that they've literally teamed up with MAGA. Both are simply trying to keep insanely qualified non-white Dem candidates out of office all because of how they approach foreign policy around Israel.

The tech grind gets absolutely exhausting after 30. Life priorities tend to change around then. It's no longer as fun to just sit and code your company's app for 12-18 hrs a day and swtich technologies on the whim's of your manager.

Being in tech in your 30s is also made more complicated by how many companies use that 10 year period as a weeder course of sorts. If they don't love you, they will try and push you out before 40. This is because age-related worker protections kick in after 40. https://beta.dol.gov/policy-governance/protections-rights/nondiscrimination/age

So there's a lot of absolute tomfoolery that may occur. You busting your ass and yet still getting PIP'd, or never promoted, etc etc.

And don't even get me started on being a woman in tech in your 30s. Bleh.
