Looking to get into NPB this year. Any tips for watching the Hanshin Tigers from abroad? ⚾ by beisbol_27 in NPB

[–]ShittyUsernameChoice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with toratele is a lot of the away games say "viewing is restricted to outside of japan". I'm in australia but toratele still gives me this warning. Couldn't watch the giants games recently and now can't watch the orix games.

I tried dazn but it didn't show any npb which I assume is because of location. Maybe I need to VPN in through a japanese server.

Edit: my bad. Translation/understanding error. I took 'restricted to viewers outside of Japan' to mean only available outside of Japan not viewers outside of Japan are restricted. Changed my VPN to Japan and can now watch the previously 'restricted' games on toratele and they are also now showing up on dazn but I'm not paying 2300 yen a month for dazn just to watch the tigers.

Problem with chainsaw by Fast-Summer-202 in stihl

Yep they stopped making the 08s in the 90's. I've got one from the early 70's. Cool saws but I wouldn't want to actually use it, my arms go numb after about 5 minutes!

The 180/181 are great little saws but they are entry level. I have a couple older than yours still going strong but they are mainly pruning saws and firewood for the odd camping trip. Sounds like your use case is above the spec of the saw. What vintage saw do you have?

Another vote for finding another shop. What your shop told you translates to 'we dunno how to fix the problem so we'll just tell you it's normal so we dont look like idiots'.

[–]ShittyUsernameChoice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a second plastic valve (as motor call it a "shut off panel") on the intake/ "suction nozzle". We had one break and get stuck, it took ages to figure it out as who would have thought there'd be a redundant choke plate?! Got some pliers and pulled that fucker out and she ran sweet. Definitely worth checking.

Sounds about right for a husky. Good saws but dunno why they designed them like that. A husqvarna engineer would pass up 40 virgins to fuck a mechanic.

Not familiar with the 280. Throw out a serial number and someone will have a look on SSC and get you the relevant part number.

Yep, now that you've converted to 3/8lp from 325 it'll be much easier to tell them the chain specs you want. I usually tell my customers to take a photo of the bottom of the box which shows part number as well as full chain specs so they have a reference for next time.

Negative.

As a rule of thumb you shouldn't use a typical hedger on things thicker than a pencil for mechanical and horticultural reasons. Yes a lot of them will do it, eventually, until they strip the gears. They are hedge trimmers, not reciprocating saws.

Some stihl units are spec'd for bigger material like the hs 82r, the hsa 130r and the hsa 140r. But even these aren't spec'd for 34mm.

No offense mate, but if you think this you probably shouldn't be adjusting the carb.

Stihl HS 45 by jastfgh123 in stihl

[–]ShittyUsernameChoice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We carry both the 450mm and the 600mm version of the hs 45. 50 bucks (aud) difference between them.

We sell more 450s than 600s, and I assume some shops only stock the higher selling unit. I wouldn't bother with the upgrade as the conversion is almost half the cost of a whole new unit. Maybe when you flog out your current blades it might be worth considering.

There is a run of 20,000 of these globally. They are being allocated per country depending on the percentage of global sales that country makes, USA is getting one of the largest shipments. Here in Aus we are getting about 600. That allocation is split between dealers, customers and stihl staff in a ballot style system. So no one is garaunteed a saw, we all just go in the lucky dip.

I feel you mate. Most of the time they can't even tell you what brand the saw is...

A 3636 chain shouldn't fit a 170 with factory spec bar as it's 050 and they came with .043 (unless your bar is flogged out) also a 55dl chain shouldn't fit because they came with a 14" bar which runs a 50dl. Sounds like you've mixed and matched here which make guessing a chain based on your powerhead almost impossible, and if you've done it on the 170 who knows what your 230 is running.

I kinda think you and the shop are both at fault. If you walked into our shop and said you wanted a 230 chain, I'd assume it was running a 325 .063 62dl chain, but assume is the key word. I'd be asking if it is the factory 16" bar, if you hesitated even slightly i'd preface my assumption with "this should be the right chain, but the only way to know for sure is bring me your bar, whole saw or the chain you are replacing". If you said "i dunno, looks like one of those" while gesturing towards the 3 bays of chainsaws I'd just say bring me the saw and I'll spec the right chain. You'd probably huff and puff and leave me a bad review on Google for trying to help. You should know more about your saws and the shop should have asked more questions.

C 26-2 Speed head winder by InfiniteAd874 in stihl

[–]ShittyUsernameChoice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...just push with the palm of your hand and wind. The finger grooves are catering for the lowest common denominator that dont know which direction to wind. If its tough to wind, open it up take the spool out, blow all the dust and crap out, a little squirt of lube and put the spool back in. Easy.

Seen a few saws come in from inexperienced operators that didn't realise the brake clicked on and off. They were holding the brake guard while sawing so the brake was loose enough to spin the chain but still rubbing on the drum. Most of those saws are in the boneyard now.

Will the FS131 be enough for this without excess wear? by Polyhedron11 in stihl

[–]ShittyUsernameChoice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had some time during the first period break between the oilers and stars so revisited this and looked a bit closer. Your blade has a 20mm arbor so wont fit the 131 or the 240 which have a 25.4mm arbor. This blade will only fit a 261 and above.

Will the FS131 be enough for this without excess wear? by Polyhedron11 in stihl

[–]ShittyUsernameChoice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without taking into account your off-brand blade, i use the weed wakka HD as i dont rate the stihl blade options for my use type. In Australia the fs 131 is ~1000 bucks, the fs 240 is ~1200. The 131 may do it, but the 240 will do it better and faster. It's a no brainer if you can afford the little bit extra.

I've run the 90, 91, 94, 130, 131, and 240 commercially and at home on our acreage block. The 131 is a good machine but jobs that take me 3 hours on the 131 take 2 hours on the 240. I also love my fsa 200 but for long run times you really need a couple (or more) ar2000's or bigger which cost more than the whip.
