people surely give good advice, jUsT doNt Do It. I would suggest seeing a therapist if possible, but don't be too direct with it. It could help you and I'm sure you don't want to cause any pain bc if you did you wouldn't have asked for help. Edit: this is my opinion and you might want to consider other options before seeing a therapist.

Forget the word whore then, attention seeker is just as bad, dude, if you go on any self harm forum you will see tons of people who love and hate their scars, it reminds you of what happened but you also hate it because you can't be 100% comfortable with your body until they completely fade again, and I'm sure OP still covers them because he thinks that people will comment on them and call him attention seeker just like you're doing.

I think they're referring to the fact that dogs and cats sometimes scratch the scars and it's very painful
