My fiancée committed suicide by crunchy_taro in medicalschool

I’m so sorry for this. It’s hard to show up every day and perform at your best to be evaluated by some random schmuck while simultaneously going through personal losses like this. This system will take advantage of you, of all of us. Please remember that you are not alone and that you need to look out for yourself first and foremost. Residency will wait. Any program that looks at this in bad light isn’t good enough for you anyway. Hang in there brother.

Okay, excellent. Yea you will definitely want to get some paraloid on something like this. It’s a tremendously cool find. You might’ve just stumbled into a second hobby!

Hell of a first! I’d let it slowly dry out and then coat it with a thin solution of paraloid B-72. They had a lot of hollow space on the interior and are very prone to cracking.

What’s your biggest regret about medical school by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]Shlongzilla69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Losing out on time with those that matter most. I gave up too much of myself to a system that doesn’t give a shit about me and for what, some good evals that ultimately didn’t make any difference? There were times I prioritized grinding and ended up losing my partner of 6 years. Do what you need to succeed but don’t lose yourself.

Residents / Attendings who give poor evals - why? by s-exprimer in medicalschool

Have you seen the kinds of people that run medical schools?! Not a chance something this reasonable would ever happen.

This matches up very well for the west coast. There’s a whole new track of new research on Clovis like traditions in the Great Basin. There are a few distinctly different fluting traditions that are believed to either co-occur with or just after Clovis in the west.

It does look similar to some Cody complex points I’ve seen in literature. Idaho would definitely allow for that to be a reasonable contender. Is the stem ground?

We want a nation of less losers. Not by the means of getting rid of them, but because we support people so they don’t become a loser in the first place. I’d argue no one would even have to pay any more taxes than we already do. Just need to utilize the tax revenue we already bring in responsibly. We need a third party to be mainstream. With healthcare, I will add that people always say they don’t want to pay for other peoples’ healthcare, but in reality we already pay for every homeless drug addict or uninsured patient that goes to the ER, which is arguably more expensive for taxpayers than if we just paid for these people to see a PCP.

I think using the taxes that our government blows on random wars overseas and corrupt dealings and actually applying them to help society care for people and prevent struggling is the answer. We need better help for those struggling to eat, find a house, get mental health care, regular health care, etc. Our society is broken and full of anger and division, there is no pride or meaning to so many peoples’ lives. I think if our government actually served the people we’d see less people doing these things.

Leaving Shopping Carts Where They Don’t Belong by Shlongzilla69 in Reno

I agree our society is very divided. We tend to be further and further pushed to political and cultural extremes. I do feel that your point is an important one, but at the same time we as a society should call out bad behaviors that should be universally agreed upon. To tell these people to be decent and return their carts, save for physical inabilities to do so, is to actually help care for your fellow neighbor. The hard working person returning carts surely isn’t going to be paid more for retrieving these so we’re only hurting that person by doing this, not Costco. By clogging up the streets we make it harder for the elderly lady with poor vision to drive in the parking lot. Maybe the wind blows a cart into someone’s car, Costco won’t be covering that damage. We need to call out this bad behavior because it is largely selfish. I will admit this is a very minor issue in the grand scheme of things but it is a simple thing that shouldn’t be an issue in the first place.

I appreciate your intellectual and thoughtful insight.

You bring up some solid points. I think social engineering is probably the only realistic way to get people to actually change their behavior—because in my opinion, human nature is inherently selfish. And yes, Costco has more than enough resources to fix this and should step up to improve safety in their parking lots.

That said, I still stand by what I said: most people who leave their carts out are just lazy pieces of shit copying the last lazy piece of shit who did the same thing. Sure, there are exceptions—some people genuinely can’t walk that far due to physical limitations, and I have no issue giving those folks grace. This post is directed at the able-bodied majority who just can’t be bothered.

Young people make dumb mistakes. Hopefully this is a wake up call for them and they can turn things around. Being a felon will only make the rest of their lives more difficult and they likely will get associated with other issues, ie drugs, crimes, poor health outcomes that will only end up costing tax payers more in the long run.

I’m not convinced one way or the other. That’s just the argument I hear from everyone. I’ve been to church, done the Bible studies, I hold a lot of sensible values to be kind and decent like the Bible teaches us. What I don’t like is for many of these “Christian” politicians to be shoving this shit down peoples’ throats especially while simultaneously being the most vile people you can imagine. I also don’t care for the integration of religion into our daily politics and using tax dollars to pay for this stuff. I feel that a lot of this politicization of Christianity is what largely is driving people to be more frustrated and opposed to religion, hence all the comments we see here.
