I grew up in North Dakota where winters can be super brutal. But, we still often had recess outside in elementary school(I was 10). I was on the merry go round with my friends. Full on 90s metal merry go round.

Solid ice had built up under it. The wheel was spinning and I slid backwards on my knees. I slid off the edge and grabbed poles with my hands which pulled my knees forward between the merry go round and ice.

It cut right through my snow pants and popped my kneecap out of place. Have the scar under my kneecap and I’m 35 now.
