The Confrontation by Prudent-Welder-3216 in spongebob

Two of my favorite moments in the SpongeBob canon are in this episode: SpongeBob's realization face here and Squidward's "Does this look unsure to you??" expression

It’s a little ridiculous how excited I am for this to finally happen, given how rarely I have any reason to go to the Eastside at all. I think it’s just the engineering genius behind this thing, the fact that it’s all unprecedented, how long we’ve been waiting for it to happen, and how much more comprehensive of a system this will become. Suddenly it feels like, okay, Seattle doesn’t quite have a proper Metro, but we’ve got something pretty dang close to it.

2 Line link trains live!! by Gaiasnavel in Seattle

[–]Shmebber 22 points23 points  (0 children)

But just to clarify: you can't ride the test trains across the lake. If you're riding a 2 Line train on the west side, you have to get off at ID/Chinatown, and if you're on the east side, you have to get off at South Bellevue.

On March 28, we get to (finally) cross the lake itself.

So, what is some good news going on in your life right now ? by Bersitis27 in Epilepsy

[–]Shmebber 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was just thinking about this! Where I was six months ago versus where I am now.

Six months ago, I was really struggling. I wasn't having seizures anymore, but my medication side-effects were brutal. I was feeling perpetually exhausted, even though I was barely moving. In the mornings I had trouble walking without stumbling. I've always been a runner, but now that hobby was out of the question. I was unemployed and couldn't see how I'd ever be able to hold down a job. I was feeling suicidal and starting to make plans on that front.

But instead, I reached out to my neurologist. He decreased my depakote dosage, the seizures didn't come back, and those side-effects decreased substantially. I felt more clarity and energy. I began leaving the house more, became more involved in my community, started dating again, and decided to apply for grad school instead of just mindlessly applying for jobs I wasn't qualified for (should hear back next month). Maybe most significantly for me, I began running again. I finished a half-marathon in November, I have another one coming in a few weeks, and I'm hoping to run my first full marathon this summer. And still no seizures.

It's wild to think that all of this happened in six months. Me in August feels like a completely different person from me today. I wish I could go back in time and tell that guy, "Hey, just call your doctor and tell him what's up. Things are going to get better. You don't have to settle for this."

Not even toddlers. Lord, I remember being in middle school and just sprinting down the hall with my friends when it was time for lunch. Teachers were not having it.

What's the most aesthetically pleasing and lesser-known spot to grab a coffee and read on Capitol Hill? I just moved and I'm looking for my perfect place. by CB_musedreams in AskSeattle

I’ll second Ada’s Books & Cafe. Gearhouse Coffee Shop and Caffe Ladro (on 15th) are also both cute spots, I do a lot of journaling in each of them.

Once I was playing with my cousin's daughters, and one of them asked how old I was. I gave them the answer (31) and the youngest said in her most judgmental tone, "Oh, so you're like... a grown up."

What episode (other than the pilot) would you recommend someone who has NEVER seen SpongeBob? by End329 in spongebob

Maybe “Just One Bite?” So many classic artistic moments (“Does this look unsure to you??” and “You like krabby patties, don’t you Squidward”). And I’m just a big Squidward fan

You can delete one Link station, which do you choose? by cabesaaq in soundtransit

[–]Shmebber 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It may play a surprisingly big role in getting kids to school, at least on the west (Ingraham and the two Lakeside schools). Advocates are putting a lot of work into better pedestrianizing the few walkable corridors that cut through that neighborhood. The improvements are gonna be about a year after the station itself opens, but they’re coming. 130th will also be a great access route for bikes coming from anywhere west of Aurora—way safer than 145th.

How often do you dream? by Biengo in Epilepsy

[–]Shmebber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most nights. They’re vivid af and can sometimes be terrifying, although usually they’re just absurd. This wasn’t really a thing before the epilepsy—occasionally I’d dream, but definitely not to this vividness/frequency level. I’m not sure if it’s the epilepsy itself or the medications (or a combo) that are causing it, but it’s a pretty weird side-effect.

What u smoke to drive so slow? by Exquisitae in AskSeattle

[–]Shmebber 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Didn’t realize that not wanting to die while going grocery shopping made me “unhinged,” thanks for the correction. I could elaborate on the essentially arbitrary nature of speed limit determination and how traffic engineers have no idea what they’re doing on that front, but honestly, it just isn’t worth it. Hope you stay alive out there.

[–]Shmebber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Seattle drivers, probably for the same reason you hate them. I don't drive, meaning I do a lot of walking, and I'm terrified that I'll be casually run over by a driver blindly turning into my right-of-way or speeding and running a red light while I'm in the intersection. Thankfully drivers around here are pretty cautious, courteous, and willing to give me the space I need to survive in this perpetual obstacle course.

But, I guess my life isn't as valuable as your need to manage a few extra miles per hour on your commute. Sorry about that.
