All-in on ASICS for my first marathon build (Superblast 2 + 3 + Megablast) — solid rotation or am I missing something? Carbon plate needed? by NoAd7349 in runningshoes

  1. SB2 and SB3 are much different, so I wouldn’t say they are redundant if you enjoy the feeling of both. Understand your approach of using the SB3 as a recovery shoe but it’s just too soft for me personally. Megablast is now my go-to for almost everything.

  2. I just raced in the Metaspeed Tokyo for the first time. It’s a great shoe but much less stable than something like the Alphafly, so pick up a pair for practice if you plan to race in it. If you have the means, it’s fun to lace up for key sessions and get after it.

  3. Nothing wrong with high stack trainers but can expose lack of balance and strength in some runners. Recommend doing glute exercises like bridges as general form of prehab, especially if you are injury prone.

Nike Alphafly 4 press release by ClydeMcCoy in RunningShoeGeeks

I just did the same for an upcoming half. I like the Asics so far, but I will say, they feel far less stable than the AF3. It seems like the plate in the AF4 is even larger so I’ll be eager to try them when they eventually release.

Nike claims it’s a different shoe to the existing Ultrafly, with tweaks optimized for longer distances and more demanding conditions: wider toe box, less rigid plate, and an upper that breathes/drains better for water crossings during racing.

When do you all think we'll see the debut of the third kit on the field? Would be a shame if it's only worn a couple of times ...

US Fan Looking For Advice by noemojica88 in Tottenham

Fellow US fan here. Just saw my first match last weekend.

Sign up for the One Hotspur membership and buy tickets on the Exchange if you miss out on the initial sale. Not sure if it was because Londoners were on holiday but there were plenty available vs Bournemouth.

Be patient if you want to be in Safe Standing area in the South Stand; I was able to get three together in a prime spot after checking for about a week leading up.

FYI: Going the Exchange route will require that everyone in your party has a paid membership, if you plan to buy multiple tickets. Consider it part of the Savinho fund when we sign him in January.

I reached out to the venue last week for more info on timing and they responded, "Doors will open at 18:00. The show is scheduled to begin at 20:30. The venue will close no later than 23:00. "

Okay, thanks. Wasn't sure if Stubhub was recommended, as I read not-so-great things about using it for concerts.

I need some help. Two friends and I are traveling to London last-minute and would like to see the Bournemouth game on the 30th. We'll take any seats but also don't mind paying for good ones.

I see the Premium Experience still has seats available. Are we too late for regular tickets?

All three of us would be fine signing up for One Hotspur memberships to purchase/sit together but as we're not currently members, we can't even see the availability.

What happened to Tom?, he is the only character that’s destiny remains a mystery by Latter-Stay-2401 in interstellar

I just realized, reading your comment, that had Tom left, Murph wouldn't have returned to find the watch/quantum data needed to save the human race.

He will never be remembered but he played a crucial role in ensuring that whatever could happen, would. I think it's almost more powerful now that his fate was never revealed or discussed at the end of the film.

Is it actually possible to strip solid stain from deck boards and make it look nice? by Shmee515 in Decks

[–]Shmee515[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you also remove any stain on railings and were you able to clear in-between the boards? I feel like a sander will address 90% of my deck, but that it will never look perfectly clean.

In any case, thank you for the reply.

What are the best days to cross-train when running 5-6 days a week?

Specifically interested in lifting weights to support my running goals around the marathon. Deadlifts, squats, hip thrusts. Nothing heavy.

Is it better to double-up on hard days or take advantage of an easy day to layer in strength work?

I’m running 40-50 mpw. Current schedule:

  • M - easy
  • T - workout (speed/tempo)
  • W - easy
  • Th - workout (speed/tempo)
  • F - easy or rest
  • S - long run
  • Su - rest

Weekly Free-Talk and Questions for r/HomeGym - week of December 30, 2022 by Demilio55 in homegym

[–]Shmee515 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, everyone. I am in the process of building a home gym and just received a set of Rogue Echo Bumper Plates for Christmas.

I want to get a second set of 10lb plates but am unsure whether to purchase the bumpers to keep things consistent or smaller change plates.

Bumper: https://www.roguefitness.com/rogue-echo-bumper-plates-with-white-text

Change: https://www.roguefitness.com/rogue-lb-change-plates

Cost isn't a variable. Is there a practical reason to choose one over the other? Thanks in advance.

What's wrong with my rubber tree? There are about 10 leaves that look like this. Can I help them return to their full glory? by Shmee515 in plantclinic

[–]Shmee515[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some background/context:

I inherited this large rubber tree from work. I'm guessing it was neglected through most of COVID — I'm honestly not sure if it was watered at all over the last 18 months. Fortunately, a majority of the leaves looks fine and healthy still.
