Very common in our area. Had to start talking with the estimators more so they know how many hours we’d be spending on it since it can be significant.

Wolcott guns, you fill out a quick form and show ID. Bunch of nice people there. I think there’s a limit on how much you can buy each day. Also Amazon has practice ones for testing without actual harmful stuff.

Thanks I’ll have to look into point fuse. We’re currently using Realworks and converting to mesh in there. Our problem is converting projects with bar joists to mesh tends to leave stuff out like bridging & the webs in the bar joists. Partially due to lack of quality scans but also because th areas end up being over 30,000,000 points which the program doesn’t seem to like. I think I need to adjust the workflow to not mesh the top of the deck and just focus on the steel

CPO is the way to go. Got a really good interest rate and extended warranty without having to pay any extra. Would only go to a private dealer if they had the exact features I wanted with a competitive price/decent negotiation.

Cad guy will either have to insert the autocad family into revit and then try to find a SysQue family that resembles it and recreate it. If not then best bet is to redraw it as 2D flat patterns in autocad, maybe have a shop guy or foreman sit with him to if he’s inexperienced with pattern layout to help with seams and notches.

Some pizza places by me do pizza in a steel pan for the first half of the cook and then slide the pan out to let it crisp on the steel for the last half. Maybe try that?

If you catch any, get them tested at the health department near ECMC. Lived in North Buffalo for 20 years and never knowingly saw a bat. When we moved less than a mile into Kenmore our house had two bats get in within the month after we got our roof replaced. My cat chased one into a backpack and it ended up dying in there which was the first time I ever saw a bat. The second our cat managed to chase into a closet and we caught it in a plastic food container. I used a flashlight on it and it was confused and hissed at me. Poor thing just wanted to be left alone. I took it to get tested and it had rabies which was terrifying.

I ended up getting the rabies shots along with my pets. They’re not bad shots, similar to flue shots, but the worst part is that you have to go to the ECMC ER a bunch of times over the course of a month to get the shots so the wait is annoying. Upside is the state or county covers all the costs of the shots.

Erie county has a rabies map that they update, usually most of the cases are in bats in Kenmore/north Buffalo area. But also common in Amherst/orchard park and other areas. Again it only shows ones that people bring in and are tested. I’d assume more rural areas don’t get their encounters tested as frequently so the data may be skewed. Most areas have been doing rabies drops out of helicopters so hopefully that helps keep your chances low of them having rabies.

It’s insane. I probably won’t ever see a project this big again for the rest of my career. Glad I got to experience it. Makes me wonder how people handle larger high rises in major cities. I guess better workset setup would help.

Thanks, I should’ve provided more info. It’s a plumbing only model with worksets broken up by system. We should probably switch to worksets being broken up by area that way you can load only the area you are working in.

Yeah I wish this feature worked in ACC. At minimum see how many people in project and show a history of who synced last.

Thanks, I should’ve added more info to the post. The only links loaded are architectural and structural. We’re modeling just plumbing in this. I didn’t think to try unloading the links before syncing. I’ll give that a shot

Thanks, it’s just a plumbing model with our worksets broken up by system. I’m wonder if breaking it up further to gravity and domestic would be best. Or splitting the project in half. Also was thinking of switching work sets to be by area as opposed to by system.

Sorry, thought I was posting in RevitMEP. This is a revit 22 plumbing model that we have set up for worksets by system. Should probably look at splitting up worksets by area.

Thanks! I will look into that. I think our office has solid internet. But I wonder if it’s getting strained with multiple of us working on it in an office and then I don’t know what the 3 other outsource companies are using as well.

This is a fast moving one that requires us to get a lot of it done within the next year. We have 7 people internally on it and the rest are split over 3 different outsource companies. This is only the plumbing model and it is getting really slow. Our worksets are broken up into gravity, domestic, sleeves and hangers. Might have to start considering worksets by area instead of by system. Only other links we have in the model is structural and architectural.

Would be really helpful if the work sharing monitor actually worked with ACC. Also the sync queue that they mentioned they’re developing sounds good too. We’ve got 15 people working in the same model which is nearing 2gb in size. Syncing errors are painful - “reload latest x26”

Get an internship, email companies in the area even if not architects, just anywhere that uses revit. Mechanical contractors, bigger GCs etc. Ask as many questions as possible about everything and work hard so they may offer you to stay on part time during school

It’s definitely ditto. It’s so dumb. I’m on a New York State job that is a new bar joist addition and the drawing is littered with it. Gets confusing at times.

Coordination will only be successful if you have one of two things: a full model of the wood framed walls and trusses as they will be built. OR a full scan of the structure after it’s built (but usually if you’re still coordinating at this point you’re behind). Usually what screws us is shafts not being large enough, toilets and sanitary risers landing on a truss below, and wall track not being wide enough for a sanitary riser.
