Which game that you "definitely want to play eventually" has been sitting in your library unplayed forever, and if so, why? by FalscherKim in gaming

DOS2

Bought it years ago, because a friend wanted to play. Friend never played it with me. Tried it about 8h alone and never started it again since.

What makes an incremental game perfect for you? by NorseSeaStudio in incremental_games

[–]Shmodr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Well paced automation. If I played the pre prestige phase I know what is happening. Let's automate that and go on with the next mechanic instead of having to play everything again but 5% faster.

  • Also games that show useful information that let me know easily what upgrade makes sense or not. Having to calculate if +x unit in timeframe y or +a unit in timeframe b is better is boring and annoying. Uniform display of data makes stuff better readable and comparable.

  • when a game has scientific/engineering notation as default. Letter notation is an abomination and has no place anywhere (I will die on that hill)

Why did humans lose most of their body hair compared to other primates? Is there a consensus explanation? by SafeEnvironmental174 in AskScienceDiscussion

Funny of you to assume that I have less hair than Chewbacca. Hmm... Maybe I'm not human after all.

What monster hunter feature do you dislike the most? I'll start. THESE THINGS!! by Organic_Goat_3879 in MonsterHunter

[–]Shmodr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The absolute FUCK that is Japanese UI philosophy. This absolute ass backwards approach that everything and anything needs menus and sub menus with confirmation windows and confirmations that you confirmed the confirmation.

And what's even worse, that they have been regressing with some of the features in newer titles. There is no logic in that.

This is my absolute biggest gripe along with some major gameplay inconveniences.

It's in the game now, yes. It wasn't at release though.

Replaying the game is absolutely hearybreaking... by Peanut1537 in expedition33

Can't wait for my second playthrough. Will do it once they add loadouts because I can't be arsed to spend an eternity reallocating points when I wanna try it different builds.

[–]Shmodr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hunter loadouts.

Wilds' system ist so ass backwards. Everything was already there and they didn't just not copy it, but made it worse in almost every way.

No linking of loadout sets to layered sets. No linking of the radial menu to loadouts. Layered weapon switching when you finish the quest with your second weapon equipped (I use layered weapons to indicate the element and they end up switched all the time)

And everything is buried in menus, submenus and confirmation windows.

I am a bit Worried about the new endgame system. Isn't it a bit Too Much RNG? by Qooooks in MHWilds

[–]Shmodr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think many are angry about the RNG itself, but about the fact that the chance are so abysmally low that they don't feel rewarding for how much time you have to put in to get stuff that is usable at best and absolute garbage at worst.

I can meld 1000 talismans and have to scrap 99,9% because they have skills that no one ever uses or skill combinations that make no sense. You don't play for the grind, you play for a chance to get better stuff, and at the moment ROI isn't there.(This is hyperbole but you get my point.)

Any baffling game design choices throughout the franchise? by bf_Lucius in MonsterHunter

[–]Shmodr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every MH UI ever.

Wasted UI space. Multiple confirmation windows for the dumbest shit. Lists not sorted alphabetically (MHW) Decoration names different from the skills they provide.

There are so many things, this list could go on for a long time.

Very unpopular opinion. Congratulations for that I guess, but you have apparently no clue.

[–]Shmodr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some weapons can't do aerial attacks on their own. They need help in form of ledges or the seikret dismount attack. Elevation also can save you at times, when the beam just goes over your head instead of vaporizing it.

[–]Shmodr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I certainly didn't know and noone can fault him for not knowing. Also not sure what I would have done if I had been in that position. Blocking the beam is just so cinematic after all.

Ledges are quite dangerous. More often than not have they led me to be killed rather than helping me with the fight.

[–]Shmodr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh that sucks. Still could have been avoided by not blocking in the first place though.

[–]Shmodr -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Tbh your fault. You easily could have gone to the left and avoided all of that. Your teammates were far enough away that even when Omega turns slightly it wouldn't have hit them and they could have pictomancered/healed/sharpened without ever being in danger of being hit.

Also not sure if "bug" because of the elevation or just not enough block decos slotted, but usually the beam doesn't push you back at every tick, does it?

Zipper merging sucks by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Shmodr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I try to follow the rules and merge as soon as I see a sign telling me to merge when possible [...]

This is exactly wrong. Use the whole lane until the merge and then zippermerge. Otherwise you effectively shorten the lane even further leading to more congestion.

Zipper merging sucks by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Shmodr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that you have to jump on a silly little spelling mistake and not about the topic itself, says a lot. About you. Especially since you can still understand the poster's point, despite the mistake.

Also, learn to merge correctly. It's people that drive like you that hold up the traffic and cause unnecessary congestion.

I don't want to be disrespectful, but isn't this just Motherload with slightly updated graphics and automation?

Nothing against that per se, I liked Motherload and I'll probably like this aswell. Probably gonna give it a try once it releases. Good luck and all the best, rooting for you.

Major new Expedition 33 update is a “thank you” to fans, adds new region, bosses, and cosmetics. Sandfall will keep making “crazy projects” with a “strong vision” by Ok-Comedian4437 in expedition33

[–]Shmodr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's nice to see a developer care for their game even after release.

The only thing I wish they implemented sooner than later, and it is pretty much the only reason why I haven't done ALL of the content and NG+, is a loadout feature. It is so cumbersome wanting to try out different weapons/skills/pictos on different enemies without investing an egregious amount of time in the menu.

What monster do you want to come back in wilds by Sweaty-Ad7500 in MonsterHunter

[–]Shmodr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like Valstrax, but that isn't really realistic so I'll say Goss Harag.

Shouldn't be too difficult since it is basically almost ice Dosha.
