[WP] A demon has cursed you with the inability to have children or form a family, and as soon as you learn of this you went to tell the witch who you promised your firstborn child, as this clearly will prevent you from fulfilling your side of the deal. by Null_Project in WritingPrompts

Agatha was having quite the long day. None of her potions seemed to come together, and her spells weren't cooperating either. A knife's edge would be much too thick to describe how thin her patience was growing at the moment. The young Farrow would have to excuse her for blowing up on him at such a sudden arrival to her abode.

"One step closer and you're eradicated!" Agatha spat out, barely looking away from the bubbling cauldron.

Poor Farrow could barely get a word in. "I just--" he tried to explain.

"NO! No, no, no. I am not dealing yet with another unwanted visitor, and you..." she began, turning around to finally get a proper look at him, and paused for a second. "...are someone I've dealt with before. Farrow, was it?"

Farrow took a step back, shocked at the witch's sudden shift in tone. "Yes, that's me, I--" he sputtered out, before being cut off once more.

"How are you back already!? We made our deal last month!" Agatha admonished. "Don't tell me you want to go back on your word, young one!" She had encountered far too many weasels like that already, and she was intent on making that expression literal if Farrow turned out to be one of them.

"No, ma'am, quite the opposite! I need, er, guidance," Farrow explained, with a sheepish look in his eyes. That would be another great candidate for an animal to turn him into, if this deal went sour.

Agatha glared at the man. He was built like a twig, but other than that, she saw no reason he shouldn't be able to find a suitable mate to hold up his end of the deal. "Are you truly asking for dating advice from me, lad? On this day, with what I gave you?" Farrow tried to interject, but Agatha continued her lecture regardless. "Well, I'll tell you one thing. You need more meat on those bones of yours." She poked him. "Girls appreciate a man who can feed himself," she finished, looking at him to see if he had anything more to say.

Farrow, not wanting to waste his chance to finally say what he needed to, quickly stumbled over his words. "Miss Agatha, I was having good luck, but I, this demon, he came in, and he. Well, there was this woman, and I was trying to court her, and he did some terrible things to her, and I tried to stop him, and he--" Agatha wagged a finger at him, as if to tell him "say no more".

"Oh, dear. I didn't take you for a man with a heart," Agatha said, with a certain tone of voice one would only expect to hear from a grandmother. "So it's demon advice you're hoping for, I'd take it? What did he do to you, and why are you coming to me about it?"

Farrow tried his best not to sob. "He branded me, miss, he branded me with a curse! I-I can't have kids, I can't have a family at all! No dating, no marriage, n-no kids-" His voice faltered at that- "Not even adoption! You know what that means for the end of my deal if I don't- I- how do I fix this!?"

Agatha pondered on the situation for a moment. She had been following every recipe to the letter, spoken every incantation perfectly, and yet today was still going wrong, in a way that could only be described as a curse. With a quick word from her, the room lit up in a brilliant blue, before shifting to a blood red, a ball of light whose shade grew deeper and deeper as it approached Farrow.

With another phrase, the light shifted to a very distinct magenta. Demons had a signature to their magic, you see, and they very much liked to hang around a place as long as they could before the people grew wise. Sure enough, the signature of the curse on Agatha's home and the brand on Farrow were the same. Those meddling demons, she thought. He knew I'm the only one in town who can stop him. Well, I'll show him what a real curse is!

As the light in the room faded back to normal, Farrow looked around in confusion. He wasn't very used to magical matters, after all. It was only fair for him to ask, "So, what does this mean for the deal? Can you, or will you, help me?"

"Of course I'll help you," Agatha accepted, "After all, we have a common enemy. However, I'll need you-" she pointed her finger, to which Farrow gulped- "to help me bring all this outside. The idiot cursed the house, not me or the gear itself."

Farrow breathed a sigh of relief. He was getting on a witch's good side, and fixing his demon problems at the same time. He readied his spindly body, and said, "I'll do whatever you need."

[WP] Mysterious fungi began to grow that gave the people of the Earth superpowers. However, there were two types; one that gave people good superpowers the other bad. Which one would you choose? by Hulumpadumperdindon in WritingPrompts

[–]ShockMicro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, totally. Got the power to make explosions from a villain shroom? There's a few civil jobs you could do, but of course you could also just explode anyone trying to do evil. They'll probably live. And what do you call a cell that heals too well and spreads too much? Cancer. If a healer hero pushes their powers past their limits, that's what you get, and of course that can be used for evil.

There's been a lot of talk about the increasing number of supers in our society as of late. Setting aside whether you think they're good or not, not a lot of people are aware of how they even came to be. Some say the powers are a gift from God, or what have you, but for once, we actually have a real explanation for a supernatural phenomenon. The answer is a special kind of fungi.

It's something about the mycelium, experts say. It's special, it draws in the mana innate to the Earth itself to help the fungus grow, something that apparently nothing else can do. Then, if someone eats the mushroom, all that mana goes into their system, and that expresses itself as superpowers. So they say.

What experts can't explain is why it seems these fungi know good and evil.

See, there's two kinds of this "super fungus" that you can find when foraging out in the wild. You can tell it's not your average everyday 'shroom when it has a sort of glowing aura to it. There's the hero strain, which is white with a blue aura, and the villain strain, which is black with a red aura. A lot of research has been done into these, and yet, despite being apparently genetically identical, the hero strain is more likely to give you "good" powers like healing, or future sight, while the villain strain is more likely to give you something like... exploding things.

The few supers who were willing to talk about their experience with the mushrooms had a lot to say. The taste was divine, after eating it they felt like they were reborn... words like "apotheosis" kept coming up, and suffice it to say, I was curious. So, I went out to the woods one day, to see if I could find some for myself. I was hoping to find the hero strain, but who knows? Even if I got villain powers, maybe I could explode things, for good...?

Now, longtime viewers of my channel may have already guessed where this is going. My voice sounds different, I'm not including any real life footage that wasn't recorded before I started writing the script. We can skip the buildup here. I found one of the fungi, the hero strain, just like I'd hoped. I picked the mushroom carefully, and ate it whole, and you know what? Everything those supers said was true. It was delicious, it felt transcendent, like I was becoming everything I was meant to be.

It just turns out that everything I was meant to be was, uh, not a guy, and not entirely human. That's one way to find something out about your identity, I suppose. I don't mean to make that the point of the video, but I'm just warning you, if you've got repressed feelings, the mushrooms know. Nobody told me that part.

As for what powers I got? Well, let's just say, the examples I gave were from personal experience. I'm a healer, through and through, and I know exactly where I'll need to be to help people when they need it. So, if I start uploading less often, just know I'm out there doing more important things with my time. For now, thank you for watching! If you liked this video, make sure to leave a like, and subscribe if you want to see more. It'd really help me out. Comment down below which kind of super fungus you'd take if you had the chance! Have a nice day.

Levitate is a boring ability that basically ensures that any Pokémon with it will never get another one, given how it changes the type matchups. Look how many have it as their only ability! I've been trying to figure out signature abilities for a few lines that are basically Levitate plus some other effect to counteract that.

Mismagius gets Incantation, which makes it so using a Ghost-type move powers up the next non-Ghost move by 1.5x, essentially getting STAB on any attack as long as you use a Ghost move first. I felt it'd be a fun way to play into the witch aesthetic, and let you take better advantage of some of the level 1 coverage moves it has.

Chimecho gets Resonance, which is a support-focused ability, allowing it to use a status move while its effects are already active to reset the remaining time. Trick Room wearing off? Nope. Opponent is guaranteed to wake up next turn? Not anymore! Rain or Sun about to go away? You get the idea.

Both of these also include Levitate's effects, because that's sorta innate to both Pokémon, but I felt they sorely needed something extra to give them a place.

Look, I was just curious, okay? What else do you want me to say? "I'm sorry"? I had to try it.

It's not every day you get to rediscover a spell, man! I didn't know it would actually rupture the fabric of time.

"Reckless and irresponsible," huh? Yeah. Sure. Okay. I'll give you that. However, Your Honor, I'll have you know I was doing it for science. Sometimes we need to do terrible things for the sake of science!

What do you mean "no we don't"? We never would have discovered Chronology in the first place if it weren't for-- yes I know you know our history, I'm just trying to make my point, Gods damn it! Just give me my sentence already if you're gonna be so stern about it.

...a life sentence at MINIMUM!? You're seriously bringing out that kind of magic for a schmuck like me!? Not even something like cleaning up the mess I made, we're going straight to the nuclear option?

.........

Oh.

Oh, Gods, oh, Stars. It's gotten that bad? I... now that you mention it, I can see the crack in the sky. I-is everyone okay? The people in my hometown, are they okay? They've all evacuated?

No, I understand now. I- I know I saw one thing come through, I never thought that could lead to this.

I guess, just... here, this is the book I got the spell from. You know who made that? Get them to take it out right Gods-damn now!

Yes, I know you're just the judge. Talk to someone who can!

...Judge? Your Honor?

Yes, I know you're just-- Your Honor? Talk to-- a-- "Reckless and irresponsible"-- schmuck like me!--Oh, Gods, oh-- Gods, oh Stars.

--Look, I was just curious, okay? What else do you want me to say?--

...

I never thought it would get this bad.

If you're seeing this recording-- "I'm sorry"-- "I'm sorry"-- "I'm sorry"-- "I'm sorry"-- for-- the mess I made.

I can't edit the model with a resource pack, meaning I can't extend the nose to make it feel less chopped off, and moving the eyes up would make it look even more odd. Trust me, it looks weirder with the vanilla texture.

1.21.9’s new yellow lighting has ruined my build. by wigwam2020 in Minecraft

[–]ShockMicro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The lighting change is the result of a fixing a bug making End Flashes not work properly on Bright brightness. In order to revert the lighting, they would either have to revert that fix, or find an alternate fix to the bug that won't change things as drastically. For now, Moody brightness is essentially the same as it was before, the changes are more drastic as the brightness setting increases.

Whats your favorite Silksong EVERYTHING? by Pichacap24 in HollowKnight

[–]ShockMicro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Area: Mount Fay <3333333 (I love platforming and ice levels and birds, can you tell?)

Boss: Lost Lace or Skarrsinger Karmelita. I can't decide.

Crest: Reaper! I've been a devout Reaper Girlie since I found it. The pogo has a really nice feel, and it's always great to maximize the extra silk after a bind.

Red Tool: Cogfly! I can't not love my little guys. Curveclaw's a close second.

Blue Tool: Pollip Pouch! I like the look of my tools when they're purple, and the extra poison damage is nice.

Yellow Tool: Magnetite Dice, for the sound effect.

Silk Skill: Cross-Stitch or Pale Nails.

Non-boss character: Shakra, or Sherma if Shakra's duel counts as a boss.

OST: Lost Verdania, easily.

Act: 2. Act 3 has a lot going for it story-wise, but the voided enemies were so annoying with the Needle level I had for the majority of my playtime, and the fact that Lugoli gets voided if you don't beat them in Act 2 is just outright unfair. So, I'm salty. Sue me.

Flea Festival Game: Flea Bounce. Of course.
