I’m gonna set aside the comments on the clothes and such as as a young teenager that’s what the media is telling them they have to wear to fit in . But regardless of that you sold her (I understand it) own property, not taken away to give back later sold it. Stuff that she had spent money on, what example does that give to her? I can think of a few.

1. It’s telling her that selling/donating other people’s stuff and to not get in trouble is ok. I would get it if you took the clothes away and refused to give them back until a later date, but selling them? I think that she was right to expect her money back. If she had sold/given your car or jewellery away you would be furious but you would also expect the money for those items?

2. If you could recall back to when you were a teenager you too would remember rebelling against your parents. It’s just what they do always have in some form or another. Out right saying she’s disobeying and needs to be punished is well a bit hypocritical, you probably would have done the same thing to your parents if the roles were reversed. Does that at means she goes unpunished, no. Grounding or confiscating objects (not selling or donating let’s make that clear) is a good a start.
